The Oscar nomination announcements are inching closer. And in the running for Best Sound is director Regina King’s One Night in Miami… — a fictional account of a meet-up in which Muhammad Ali, Malcolm X, Sam Cooke, and Jim Brown discuss their roles in the Civil Rights Movement and cultural upheaval of the 60s.

In this Amazon Studios-created video interview, Formosa Group‘s supervising sound editor/re-recording mixer Andy Hay and sound designer Bryan Parker break down their sound work (even sharing their Pro Tools sessions) for specific scenes from the film: the opening Wembley Stadium fight, and Sam Cooke’s a cappella stage performance in the Boston.
