Plus, we have libraries that will meet some very unique needs with sounds of a 12-meter fishing boat, reverberant stairway doors, evil zombies, crazy cartoon effects, an old Sony Walkman, and designed sounds of tinnitus. Happy listening!

British Suburbia

'British Suburbia' by SKYES Audio takes you to a world filled with warm beer, cricket, and endless parks that you can enjoy all year long with free library updates over the coming months!

  • Nature & Countryside British Suburbia Play Track 15 sounds included, 35 mins total $100

We all know what central London sounds like. It’s noisy, crowded, and full of people trying to sell you watches. Ok, maybe that last point wasn’t that relevant, but have you ever wondered what lies beyond?

A short drive towards the suburbs will reveal a world filled with warm beer, cricket, and endless parks, where deer roam free.

When planning this library, the intention was to capture the quieter side of the metropolis, all year round! As a result, this library will receive multiple updates over the coming months. There will be one more summer update soon, along with an autumn update, winter update, and spring update.

If you purchase the library now, you will get it at the lowest price, and you will also get all the remaining updates for free.

So far, the first version of the library contains 15 .WAV stereo files at 96kHz/24 bit, recorded with a Sony PCM-D100/1, and contains approximately 35 minutes of summer ambiances in different locations throughout suburban London. Over the following months, I’ll keep traveling around the suburbs, collecting more and more ambiances, each update representing its own season.

Each file has been carefully edited in iZotope RX in order to remove as much unwanted noise as possible, such as random shouting, barking, etc. This will provide you with clean ambiences that will add character to your projects, without distracting the audience. That being said, do please note that the recordings contain some amount of traffic noise, and some also contain airplane noise. This is, of course, unavoidable when recording in a city such as London.

In addition to that, each file has been filled to the brim with SoundMiner metadata, allowing you to quickly search through the files, waste less time and dedicate more time to what you love doing!

If you have any questions about this library, feel free to quickly send me an e-mail. I tend to reply within minutes.

  • River Estuary is a series of recordings centred around the River Deben estuary in Suffolk, an area famous for its natural beauty and wildlife. It is a treasure trove of sounds that capture the ambience of this serene environment, with a focus on the wading bird calls that give the estuary its unique sonic character.

The Deben starts its life in Debenham and ends at the fishing village of Felixstowe Ferry 54 kilometres away, passing through villages such as Ramsholt, Melton and the town of Woodbridge on the way. Over the course of a year, I made various trips along the stretch of the river to record the ambience and wading birds. I spent time living on a boat stationed in Woodbridge, with private access to the boatyard, allowing me to record over night. I was also granted permission to record on the privately owned Sutton Hoo side of the Deben, another of Suffolk’s areas of outstanding historical significance and beauty, equally full of life but further away from the rumbling traffic and human life coming from the town.

The library was mostly recorded in Woodbridge in the late winter of 2018, during the infamous “Beast From the East” cold snap. I continued the recordings up until late summer, making trips to other areas in between. It includes the sounds of curlews, oystercatchers, redshanks, geese, swans, ducks and various other wading bird calls, as well as general ambience recordings of the area at high tide and low tide and all hours of the day. The night calls that echo over the expanse of the river at low tide are particularly evocative.

The library was recorded entirely in 24bit/96k with a double Mid/Side rig consisting of Sennheiser MKH60/30 and 8040 mics, encoded to 5.1 Wav. A stereo option is also available at a lower price. As a bonus there is a collection of bird call spot FX taken from the recordings with noise reduction applied, for those who may need to add individual wading bird calls to their ambience.
