Videogame Foley Essentials Vol. II

'Videogame Foley Essentials Vol. II' by Sonic Bat is a collection of 1,454 short, snappy one-shots that can be layered, stretched, and bent to create a variety of effects. The sounds are organized by type, such as foliage, footsteps, rocks, and rummaging, and jiggling to help you create engaging soundscapes.

  • Bundles Videogame Foley Essentials Vol. II Play Track 1454 sounds included, 46 mins total $40

Continuing the popular Videogame Foley Essentials series, Vol. II offers up an additional 1454 individual sound effects all mixed at the same volume level, carefully cleaned-up of any unnecessary background noise and artifacts ready to be dropped onto any audio middleware solution such as Wwise or FMOD. These sounds were created with videogame development in mind, meaning all sounds are short and snappy one-shots with dozens of iterations each, capable of being layered, stretched and bent with surprising results. The goal is to help the editor/sound designer on their workflow by simply dropping these ready-to-go sound batches on their middleware projects, avoiding auditory repetition and fatigue for the gamer whilst keeping them totally immersed on their upcoming adventures.

You’ll find on this library the following folders with clear nomenclature and respective metadata pertaining to various interactions either with environmental objects or the characters you’ll find in the game itself:

Foliage: interactions with multiple foliage types like dropping dry/leafy tree branches, logs clashing with one another, grabbing sounds of branches/plants, brushing against different plant types, pulling plants from its root, stick impacts/snaps and tree branch sways.
Footsteps: numerous one-shots of different ground textures (deep water, shallow water, glass, grass, mud and wood).
Rocks: regular interactions with rocks of various sizes ranging from drops, grabs and scraping.
Rummaging & Jiggling: textures being handled in several ways, from rummaging/dropping/dragging/handling/jiggling sounds of a metal chain, furniture, wooden box filled with domino pieces, glass bottles and a screeching steering wheel lock.

‘Residential Forest III’ is the third library in my series of long-term recordings from a German allotment environment. This remote area, surrounded by forest, features cottages, ponds, and an abundance of natural sounds. The library captures a blend of suburban, residential, and forest ambiences.

‘Residential Forest III’ includes 36 unique ambiences recorded in Germany during spring, specifically in January 2023, from 1 p.m. to 11 a.m. the following day. From these 23 hours of recordings, I have carefully edited and curated the best moments, creating a 4 GB auditory journey through the afternoon, evening, night, morning, and midday hours in this residential forest setting.

To capture the profound silence of the night, I used a matched pair of Rode NT1-A microphones with exceptionally low noise, paired with a Tascam HD-P1 recorder.

The total duration of the library is approximately 3.5 hours, with most ambiences ranging from 5 to 10 minutes. Some are longer, while a few are shorter.

‘Residential Forest III’ was recorded in AB stereophony at 48 kHz, 24-bit.

Multichannel, recordings of the ice; Surface/underwater recordings of the ice. Check the sound list for info/ object of recording.

Each multichannel recording (or position/place of recording) is in a separate folder. Each channel/recording is Metadata tagged with description of equipment/format/character. Each multichannel recording (each folder) consist of:

    –        4 Ch STEREO Mix, all channels mixed together (surface and underwater), ready for use stereo file

    –        Ch 01-MID, mono file, front/MID microphone-cardioid, RAW

    –        Ch 02-SIDE, mono file, SIDE microphone-figure of eight, RAW

    –        Ch 03-HYDRO LEFT, mono file, Left side hydrophone, RAW

    –        Ch 04-HYDRO Right, mono file, Right side hydrophone, RAW

    –        STEREO HYDRO Mix, stereo file, two hydrophones mixed together, ready to use underwater/ice stereo file

    –        STEREO (surface) file

You can use mono channels to create your own mix (or use it as mono) or use a stereo-ready to use file (or combination of both).

Using mono recordings/files for multichannel mixing can be very creative for SFX, or maybe in film, for example, to accompany first surface (frame) and then underwater (frame) separated, or half submerged camera (frame).

For mixing stereo (surface) files (microphones) you will need an MS matrix (plugin). This is a very creative tool which allows you to control the amount of stereo field or front to side ratio of the sound captured. If you are not familiar with MS there is a ready to use stereo (surface) file and you can use/mix it with underwater/ice file(s).

(for MS: Sennheiser MKH40 – front microphone/cardioid and Sennheiser MKH40-side microphone/ figure of eight.) Hydrophones are Aquarian audio H2a XLR.

  • Animal Sound Effects Forests and Mountains Play Track 96+ sounds included, 220 mins total $110

Forest and Mountains features nature and wildlife sounds from California, Washington, and Oregon.  Included are a number of bird recordings and forest ambiences, along with some insects, winds, rivers, and rain.

These were recorded over the past three years in various forests, foothills, and mountain environments.   A lot of these took place in or near Southern California’s Angeles Forest and San Gabriel Mountains, an area that spans 1200 Square Miles and varies vastly in terrain.

Also included are some sounds from Northern California, along with recordings from the Pacific Northwest.

The recording techniques for this varied as sometimes I went with the recorders running unattended to capture night, dawn and early morning.  Other times I’d record while being close by.

Working as a Sound Effects Editor I’ve curated this collection with Editors in mind.  Background Ambiences and Spotted FX can really bring a location to life and give it so much story and character and that was a lot of the inspiration behind putting this all together.

    Forests and Mountains

    Metadata
Detailed with descriptions and markers and photos to easily navigate and allow for options when searching.  UCS was used to categorize and various bird species are identified.  I’ve also labeled the metadata with what I consider Lower Elevation (up to 1500 feet), Middle Elevation (2000-5000 feet), and Higher Elevation (above 5000 feet).   Included are the season of the year which was mostly Spring and Summer.  Using Open-Tier in Soundminer you can use these to help get a bit more specific to particular environments.
