This week on A Sound Effect, you can dive into a diverse soundscape of libraries and bring your creative visions to life!

We have upbeat and whimsical music that will infuse your games with playful orchestral melodies and charming casual music. Also, check out cinematic textures of roaring fire and otherworldly ice.

If you're looking to get outdoors instead, immerse yourself in the beautiful soundscapes of coastal African cities, explore three new volumes of windy valleys, forests, and grasslands, and bring the world to life with sounds of airplanes landing in California.

And finally, if you're looking for everyday sounds, check out the familiar hums and buzzes of refrigerators, recreate playful childhood brick knickknacks, or go for a touch of whimsy with fantastical steampunk contraptions. Happy listening!

Art Machines – Fantasy apparatus and kinetic engines

'Art Machines – Fantasy apparatus and kinetic engines' by Sound of Essen is a collection of sounds from fantastical, kinetic machines. These 23 multi-mic recordings capture the whirring gears, clanging metal, and humming motors of these artistic contraptions designed for use in fantasy or steampunk settings.
 
  • Industrial Ambiences Art Machines – Fantasy apparatus and kinetic engines Play Track 201 sounds included, 300 mins total $83

    This library contains sound from 23 multi-miced kinetic machines and wounderous apparatus split into mixdowns and construction kits of each machinery.

    The mechanisms have been designed and build by and recorded in collaboration with the kinetic artist Willi Reiche in a quiet setting at the Kunstmaschienenenhalle.

    Spinning gears, squeaky leather belts, grinding metal, humming motors, tonal elements and rattling parts construct an imaginative factory ambience. It can be perfectly used to design a magical lab, an inventor workshop or a steam punk industrial complex. Of course any tiny to big gear and machines can be brought to live with these sounds. You can easily layer different parts from various machines to create the desired mood and characteristic of your visuals or story.

    There are both electric machines driven by servo motors and machines that have to be handled by hand. Additional emf content has been captured from the electronic devices.

    Gear used: Up to 10 microphones have been used on each machine, including Schoeps MK41 / CMC1, Dpa 4060, Neumann KMR81i, Earthworks QTC50, AKD D112, Lewitt 540s, Ambient ASF1 and EMF microphones.

    Get the authentic sounds of West Africa with over 6 hours field recordings from Gabon.

    This library features a broad range of unique field recordings covering tropical thunderstorms, vibrant markets, walla, bustling city/beach soundscapes, a selection of unique industrial ambiences and even some rainforest atmospheres. The sounds were all recorded over a two week period in 2023 in the capital Libreville and the surrounding areas.

    All sounds were recorded using a Sound Devices Mixpre6ii with either a Rode NT5 stereo pair or a more covert DPA 4060 stereo pair, as well as 3 bonus mono sounds.

    All sounds are UCS compliant with burnt in metadata and PDF spreadsheet with sound list.

    The approach for this pack was to create sounds in the anime style, I loved that genre and I wanted to see how this type of sounds are created. In this pack there are: Punches, slaps, energy, hits, spells, destruction SFX, hitmarks, explosions SFX, impacts, sword attacks, whirlwinds, whooshes, unarmed combat SFX.

    Although they are anime sounds, they can be used in different styles of video games or other media projects.

    I hope you enjoy implementing this sounds in your project!

    All this sounds were originally recorded with a Zoom H6 (cardiod microphone), and were processed with the Logic Pro X sampler, Omnisphere and using plugins like PitchMonster. In this case, the recorded sound have been heavily changed, because anime sounds are not usually “realistic”.

     

    Some considerations

    1. Keep in mind this sounds can be used in a variety of situations, I put a name to the SFX but this doesn’t mean it can’t be used in other contexts.

    The original 1957 Jeep model Hotchkiss from the French army was used during the Algeria conflict during the 50’s/60’s.

    It was meticulously recorded in 96 khz 24 bits for high quality. This collection includes more than 2 hours of recordings in 432 audio files. The audio files are in stereo and UCS compatible.

    The sound pack contains engine and exhaust recordings, rev, idle, acceleration, deceleration, constant rpm loops on onload and offload, passby, brake, handbrake, horn, hood closing and opening, belt movements, fuel injection button press, gas tank opening and much more.

    The original IL4 cylinders engine produces a very unique sound. That will be a perfect fit for any old school military jeep in your project.
