Yes, itโs true. Windows 10 is out. Of course, thatโs news to exactly no-one โ but what you may not be aware is what Windows 10 means for pro audio. I wasnโt, but over at Synthtopia, I spotted this interesting keynote with Microsoftโs principal program manager for music, audio and embedded technology, Pete Brown. And while the keynote may have a music slant, many of these changes affect all of us working with sound on the PC platform.
โข Audio and MIDI in Windows 10
โข The new AKAI MPC, which runs a version of Windows 10 Embedded
โข Xi-Machines custom Windows workstations for audio
โข Obedia high-performance audio workstations
โข DAWs that are working on Windows 10
โข Windows 10 audio performance statistics
โข Propellerhead Reason on Windows 10
โข The Windows Mobile port of Propellerhead Figure
โข Image-Line FL Studio and Windows 10
โข Bitwig Studio working on Windows 10 and
โข A preview of Microsoft Hololens augmented reality system and virtual reality music software.
Did you take the plunge with Windows 10 already, and howโs it working for you in the audio department? Personally, Iโll probably wait till the dust settles and any driver kinks are worked out first โ but itโs exciting to see Microsoft putting in an effort to improve the pro audio experience in Windows 10.
