Testimonals:
The PSP oldTimer MultiBand compressor has quickly become a staple on my drum bus. I’ve also been using it for mastering work. Unlike most of multi band compressors, the oldTimer can be used for subtle band compression and warmth without adversely affecting with the overall tonal balance.
Barry Wood (The Other Room)
The new PSP oldTimer MultiBand is quickly becoming my “go to” for electric guitars in particular. It’s easy to thicken and squish them without pumping, tame any ice picks, and to smooth out rough edges. It’s also inspiring to use, it’s hard to make things sound bad. The “Valve” parameter is a major bonus, my new favorite saturation device. Changing the filter slope gives another way to differentiate sounds and the stereo spread feature for each band is intriguing – I used this to widen the highest frequencies on a guitar bus which made the guitars sound more three dimensional. It feels and sounds analog, hard to believe…
Hank Linderman (The Eagles, Chicago, Don Henley, Timothy B. Schmit, Robert Lamm …)
Finally a vibey multi-band compressor! PSP oldTimer has been one of my favorite compressor plug ins for a long time, and the new multi-band version is an important addition to my mixes.
Mikael Eldridge aka Count (Tycho, DJ Shadow, Radiohead, No Doubt, Galactic, Mavis Staples, The Revivalists …)
I’ve been using the PSP oldTimer compressor for a number of years, it’s really become an essential part of my live drum recording sound, working equally well on room microphones and tom tom mics. It really adds quality impact to almost anything. I was therefore intrigued to start using the newest incarnation, the multi band version. It’s even better than I had imagined! Especially if you have a troublesome frequency in your signal that makes a regular compressor behave in ways that you didn’t expect. PSP have combined all the vibe of the original but now with forensic controls.
