VOXBaby is a unique collection of authentic newborn baby recordings captured during the first three months of a babyโs life in a natural home environment.
Created with the goal of documenting the complete sonic development of a newborn from birth to three months old, this library follows my son through a wide range of everyday situations, emotions, and behaviors. Rather than isolated sound effects, the recordings capture genuine moments and natural performances, providing sound designers, editors, filmmakers, game developers, and documentary creators with highly realistic newborn baby ambiences and vocalizations.
The library contains 73 carefully recorded files featuring sleeping, breathing, breastfeeding, swallowing, hiccups, sneezing, yawning, vocalizations, baby colic, calm moments, emotional transitions, restlessness, and various types of crying. Many recordings capture complete behavioral sequences, such as waking up, falling asleep, feeding sessions, escalating cries, post-feeding reactions, and quiet nighttime sleep.
Recorded in a quiet domestic environment using a matched pair of Neumann KM184 microphones in XY configuration, the library preserves the intimate details and natural dynamics of a babyโs earliest months. The recordings were captured over an extended period rather than during staged recording sessions, allowing the collection to reflect authentic newborn behavior and natural day-to-day development.
