German Autobahn – Highway Ambiences

$54

This is the perfect traffic ambient bed or road background sound for any media production that features highways, interstates, freeways or German Autobahn.

For this library I recorded dry, moist and wet road surfaces. I recorded sparse traffic, busy interstates and medium filled highways. The cars, trucks, busses and motorbikes drove slow, medium fast or at high speed.

There are highlight sounds like honks or sirens, rattling trucks, creaky suspensions and noisy medians. A lot of pass bys and vrooms.

Different perspectives range from close (<4m), medium, distant (>30m), top ( bridge), below (tunnel) to behind noise barrier.

Most sounds have been recorded at night to avoid other noises. Few selected feature other noises on purpose, like a cicada chirping at a truck stop or birds in close by trees for a full atmo.

Last but not least I recorded some handrails at the Autobahn with a contact mic. These metallic ambiences can be used for experimental sounddesign.

Sound of Essen started in 2017 as an official project for the European Green Capital 2017. 12 selected places from the rivers Ruhr and Emscher in Essen were introduced via sound. I offer free downloads of atmos, animals, machinery, vessels and many more along pictures, texts and maps of my trips in Essen. In 2018 the blog continued with the project Assindia X, a 10 year recording project in Essen, also supported by the city of Essen. In addition, I will continue to feature soundscapes of places and events in Essen and even offer libraries for sale with sounds from my hometown.
