Field Recording Library introduces Ultimate – a collection uniting the best recordings from the libraries Kaleidoscope, Vol. 1, Vol. 2 and Vol. 3. This comprehensive sound archive spans four years of work and captures the entire diversity of Russian sounds, ranging from spring nature awakening to autumn chills.
Kaleidoscope offers a wide range of atmospheric recordings created between 2022 and 2023. Here you’ll find sounds transporting listeners to diverse locations – from quiet forests and courtyards to busy highways and bustling city squares. These recordings are made in 48kHz format and are suitable for all audiovisual projects, creating vivid and realistic soundscapes.
Vol. 1 elevates quality to another level. All tracks are recorded in 96kHz, 24bit format, providing exceptional sound detail. This library focuses on the sounds of Russia and Saint Petersburg from early spring until late summer. Long background recordings up to 20 minutes extend possibilities for selecting and combining sound textures, making work on projects more flexible.
Vol. 2 concentrates on the autumn sounds of Saint Petersburg and its suburbs. From warm September days to damp November evenings, the library features urban and natural sound sketches under different weather conditions. Extra channels synchronized with main recordings add unique dimensions, like underwater river waves alongside surface ones, while contact mics capture hidden textures invisible to conventional microphones. Recordings are done in 96kHz, 24bit format, making them ideal tools for audio design professionals.
Vol. 3 is the culmination of a year’s travel across northwest and central Russia – from Saint Petersburg and Leningrad region to Karelian Isthmus, Kola Peninsula, Murman, and even Tambov area. The new soundbank consists of numerous moments captured in extraordinary settings. Hear the subtle whispers of northern nature, life in provincial towns and the Northern capital, mesmerizing waves of the Barents Sea, and gentlest vibrations of the wild.
Each recording opens a door to completely unique spaces previously unknown to human ears. Made using unique equipment: my favorite Nevaton MC50 surrounded by two Nevaton MC59 microphones. This setup provides incredible volume, sense of air, and sound depth. Sometimes additional devices were employed, such as contact mics and geophones, revealing secrets of the micro-world of vibrating surfaces.
