FOLEY PROPS SFX: Household, Bells, Clocks, Party & Doors
FOLEY PROPS SFX is a hand-performed prop collection: the small, specific sounds a scene needs and a library of ambiences never has. A hotel reception bell struck once. A wall clock ticking. A carillon music box wound by hand and left to play out. Crystal glasses meeting in a toast. A party horn, a bursting balloon, a clown horn. Keys in a lock, a knock on a door that will not open, a roller shutter running down its track.
Everything was performed and recorded close, mostly with a shotgun microphone at short distance and 71 of the 74 files at 192 kHz in 32-bit float. That combination is what makes prop recordings worth owning: the transients stay intact, the noise floor stays out of the way, and a snap or a clink can be pitched down two octaves and still hold its shape.
The collection also includes the classic substitution props that Foley artists actually keep on the bench. Celery and carrots snapped on mic in several takes โ the standard stand-in for breaking bone and tearing sinew. Nutshells cracking. Bubble wrap, plastic sheet, bags, bottles and cups crushed and crumpled, which layer into fire, footsteps in undergrowth, insect movement and creature skin. These are source material as much as they are household sounds.
Inside the Collection
The library is organised into UCS-compliant categories to streamline your workflow:
- Foley Props & Plastics (22 files, 5m) โ The core of the library. Celery, carrot and breadstick snaps in multiple takes, nutshells cracking, bubble wrap, plastic sheeting, bags, bottles and cups crumpled and crushed, an office stapler, velcro and clothing zips.
- Bells & Chimes (13 files, 5m) โ Handbell rings long and short in mono and stereo, a hotel reception call bell, a bicycle bell, an electronic doorbell, and a carillon music box โ hand-wound and playing its melody through.
- Household Appliances (8 files, 5m) โ Hairdryer, vacuum cleaner, electric oven fan, a steam radiator expanding as it heats, water reaching a rolling boil on a gas stove, and a lighter igniting.
- Clocks & Timers (7 files, 3m) โ Analogue wall clocks and a kitchen timer ticking, one running through to its alarm, plus a twin-bell alarm clock.
- Party & Celebration (7 files, 2m) โ Party horn blasts, a clown horn in short and long honks, balloons bursting, and rubber balloon friction โ the squeal that reads as everything from a cartoon to a creature.
- Doors & Windows (7 files, 2m) โ Key locks operating, a metal locker lock, an armoured door on its lever, knocking at a locked wooden door, and manual and motorised roller shutters.
- Glassware & Kitchen (7 files, 2m) โ Crystal glasses clinking and toasting, a tumbler struck, knife blades rubbing, and drink cans opening with and without carbonation.
- Books & Paper (3 files) โ Pages flipped through a book and a catalogue.
