Feel the void – Shadows bloom, the air becomes heavier, filled with unspoken tension… HAL presents DRONE ATMOS, an immersive 7.0.2 sound library featuring 174 meticulously crafted soundscapes. DRONE ATMOS captures the dark and vast sonic worlds of empty parking garages, gritty industrial sites and deserted corporate spaces. The native 7.0.2 recordings are augmented with carefully worldized elements—buzzing lights, deep rumbles, tonal pads, and resonant hums—delivering a singularly rich and enveloping experience. Whether you’re creating cinematic tension, crafting large game environments, or designing immersive installations, DRONE ATMOS offers a wide range of sounds to enrich your story.
Crafting sonic textures – To expand the natural characteristics of these vast spaces, we introduced curated abstract sounds directly into different environments through multiple loudspeakers, capturing their real-world interactions with the space. This worldizing technique gave birth to a wide variety of resonant textures, where architecture and sound coalesce into deeply atmospheric drones. The result is a collection that retains the authentic spatial qualities of native 7.0.2 recordings while offering rich layers of sonic mystery and tension. We also designed a set of analog effect chains —using distortions, filters, and delays— that were applied to some of our 9-channel ambiences. Each channel was processed individually before being recombined into the full immersive format, offering highly detailed and dynamic textures while preserving the acoustic realism of the source sound spaces. This meticulous workflow ensures that every sound in DRONE ATMOS feels alive and layered while keeping an unmatched sense of depth.
Just be drawn to it – Each sound is loopable, UCS compliant, and embedded with extensive metadata, making it very easy to find what you’re looking for. The drones are divided by type (industrial, neon, tonal, rumble, subtle, expressive, and rhythmic) and mood/character (aggressive, restrained, ominous, grounded, textured, etc.). For Soundminer users, navigation is made even simpler through the use of the Open Tier field. DRONE ATMOS is available in three formats—native 7.0.2, 2nd Order Ambisonics (both with stereo downmixes included), and stereo only—providing full flexibility to suit your production needs.
