Tired of crafting helicopter scenes with those cliché two-blade rotors sounds from Hollywood, like the UH-1 or Bell 206?
Even if you’re not, this library is still a must-have for any helicopter-related sound design project. It bridges the sonic gap between the beat of a two-blade and a four-blade rotor—something incredibly important when crafting a dynamic and versatile sound palette.

The H125 from Airbus (formerly Eurocopter) sounds just beautiful. Its character is truly unique. Neither the H130 nor the H120 sounds as clean as this one, thanks to the absence of a Fenestron tail rotor.

This library contains a wide variety of helicopter maneuvers and perspectives, recorded at 24-bit / 48 kHz during the summer of 2020.

WHAT MAKES THIS LIBRARY SO UNIQUE?

  • This helicopter was recorded on a private field where it was performing cargo-loading operations for power line transportation. This allowed me to record many different flights over the course of two full days.
  • The pilot himself helped me by performing certain maneuvers and allowed me to get extremely close to the helicopter during startups, capturing a highly detailed character of the blades and engine when needed.
  • Startups, idling, takeoffs, hovering, approaches, pass-bys, and shutdowns were all recorded from close, medium, and distant perspectives whenever possible.
  • You get a processed folder containing some of the most commonly used sounds in movies, such as distant fly-bys, dramatic engine shut-offs, and cool, isolated components of the helicopter’s machinery like its tail rotor or turbine.
  • Additionally, you get two ambisonic tracks of this aircraft slowly passing overhead, recorded last year with a MixPre-6 II and an NT-SF1 microphone.

GEAR USED: Sound Devices Mix Pre 6 II, Zoom F4, MKH416, Rode NT-SF1
