Product Description
Six 35mm film cameras, every one mechanically operated with no electronics anywhere in the sound: a Nikon F2, a Nikon F, a Leica M3, a Zeiss Contaflex IV, an Exakta VX and a Rollei 35S. Mid-century bodies, German and Japanese manufacture, 1951 to 1980.
Each was recorded across eight to fourteen mechanical actions, six to eight takes each: wind-and-release cycles with the back open and closed, self-timer wind-and-run sequences, shutter speed dials, f-stop rings and click dials, focus rings, lens caps on and off, lens and filter mounts, back covers, backplates and bottom plates, film wind levers, film spindles, pressure plates, rewind and frame-selector levers, a light meter cover, and shutter releases. 65 distinct actions across the six bodies.
Every take was captured on three microphones at once, through a Sound Devices MixPre-10 at 192 kHz / 32-bit float. A Sennheiser MKH 416 holds the production-sound centre. An Oktava MK-012 adds musical body and weight against brighter microphones. A Sanken CO-100K, omnidirectional with response to 100 kHz, captures the mechanism far above human hearing, and that is the layer that survives hard pitch-shifting and time-stretching.
260 master WAVs: 65 mixed three-microphone blends ready for the timeline, and 195 per-microphone stems, one per microphone per action, for resynthesis and layering. Mono, 192 kHz / 24-bit PCM. Total runtime 2 hours 33 minutes.
Every file carries UCS v8.2 filenames and embedded BWF and iXML metadata with a per-file TraceID. Descriptions, categories and keywords arrive intact in any UCS-aware library manager.
