Sound effect based instruments for sound design and music composition
Discover one of the biggest collections of bells ever recorded with nearly 6 hours of sound.
Beautiful Bells BUNDLE contains the solo ringing of 76 swinging bells and 135 stationary bells, captured in 62 bell towers, carillons, chapels, churches, cathedrals, basilicas and clock towers across France, with unprecedented quality. Most of the sounds were recorded inside bell towers.
Swinging bells are struck by a hanging clapper. They have a natural pitch modulation due to the Doppler effect, and a timbre modulation due to varying orientation. They produce a deep and lively sound and are mostly used to announce masses, religious holidays, weddings and funerals.
Stationary bells are struck by external hammers. They have a steady and rich tone, with a long sustain. They are mostly used as musical instruments in carillons, to indicate the hour in clock chimes or to alert the population in tocsins.
Every bell size and pitch is represented in this library, from huge 10 ton bourdon to tiny carillon bells weighing a few kilograms. You will find bells founded from 14th to 21st century with a great variety of timbres and tunings, over a range of more than 5 octaves. The sounds are sorted by note from D2 to G7.
The library contains 2 carillons with 54 bells and 10 bells, available as sound files and virtual instruments (NI Kontakt and EXS24 with round robin).
You will also get 15 peals of multiple bells, called plenum.
By sorting the solo sounds by location, you can recreate authentic bell combinations. You also have the freedom to create any custom combination or use the sounds as instruments in musical scores.
All the sounds in this library were recorded in bell towers or as close as possible to provide great sonic precision and optimal signal-to-noise ratio.
Over 12,000 kilometers were traveled during six months to get you one of the most exhaustive swinging bell collection ever recorded.

Clicky and rolling metallic sounds from an old metallic Sweda cash register from the 1970s + a bonus Kontakt MIDI instrument.
Great source material for designing all sorts of odd mechanical insects, robot or machine movement, mechanical UI buttons or just actual cash registers in shopping scenes. ~270 sounds in 165 files.
We recorded the cash register with high quality microphones from multiple perspectives – even with a lavalier microphone hidden inside the machine for super dry mechanical sounds and contact microphone attached to the back for beefy low end that can be mixed in to make your sounds feel heavier. We even added punchy ready-to-use detailed mixes of all the microphones. Recorded in a professional noise free recording studio, giving you the complete freedom to shape the sounds as you please
We experimented to explore all the sonic gems hiding in the machine. You’ll find sounds of the electric number indicators rolling when pressing the payment button, creepy click-clacky insect-like movements, thin metallic movements and impacts and foley sounds from touching and handling the cash registers.
The library has been tagged with extensive metadata and has been tested in Soundminer, Basehead, Soundly and Pro Sound Effects’ Search to make it easy to find the sounds you are looking for.
The library comes with a Kontakt instrument (requires full version of Kontakt 6) with several round robins and multiple microphone positions that be used to add mechanical rhythms to your music, or easily sync the sounds to pictures with MIDI notes.
– Mechanical click-clacky insect-like movements
– Beefy rolling sounds from electric number indicators rolling when pressing the payment button
– Several metallic drawer movements
– A huge variety of mechanical buton clicks
– Foley and impacts from handling the register
– Several microphones from different perspectives as well as a punchy ready-to-use detailed mixes of all the microphones
– A Kontakt Instruments with several round robins and multiple microphone positions that be used to add mechanical rhythms to your music, or easily sync the sounds to pictures with MIDI notes
MaK is a Kontakt instrument which replicates the sounds of a person using various computer keyboards, mice, or touchscreen devices. This allows you to very quickly perform the foley of using one of these devices via midi.
There are 15 devices available in MaK: 5 Keyboards, 5 Mice, 2 Touchscreens, and 3 digital keyboards. Each of these devices has been meticulously recorded at a number of different velocities for a very realistic playback performance.
The majority of the devices have 5 velocity layers; from soft to hard. Each of these velocity layers have 32 different samples: 16 for the press sound, and 16 for the release sounds of each device. That’s 160 samples per device! MaK will randomly trigger press and release samples for each layer based on the velocity you play the notes. Easy to use controls allow you to adjust additional layers of randomness in both velocity and pitch. All of this adds up to realistic devices, and convincing performance. This library requires the full version of NI Kontakt (not included)
Whether it’s for animation, live action production or a videogame – Blue Sugar Audio’s ‘Footsteps’ library will help you bring your characters to life!
This Footsteps library includes 5 types of footsteps: bare feet, heels, sneakers, work boots and dress shoes -each tied to their own little character- sneaking, walking and running on 5 different surfaces: concrete, laminate, dirt, metal and hollow wood. The great variety in high quality samples will help you create three very natural sounding paces.
As a courtesy the library also includes Kontakt files -compatible with the full version of kontakt 5 only- so you can Foley your way through your production in a flash!
Attention: This is NI KONTAKT instrument, so you need full version of KONTAKT (at least version 5.5.2) to run and play it. It will not work in KONTAKT Player!
However, this library contains 96kHz WAVs in separate folders for each of three kalimbas if you don’t have (or need) KONTAKT.
Here you will find two models of high-end kalimbas, as well as a bonus: prepared low-quality rattling kalimba to add some low-fi textures to your music or sound design.
All were recorded with condenser and contact stereo mics and have separate controls for both microphones levels. Also, the use of five round-robins for each mic allows to achieve variability and human-alike sound.
All three instruments are built on the same KONTAKT engine with many useful controls: room and contact mic gain, AD envelope, low-pass filter with resonance, chorus, reverb, delay and three-band equalizer.

Gear Used:
A killer antique accordion full of paper crinkles, key clacks, sick sounding wheezes and old wood creaks. The antique accordion was rescued from a local antique shop. It has a hole in the bellows that creates a distinct wheezing sound, and it is loaded up with strange squeaks, pops and paper textures.
We rolled on this instrument for about an hour, and did everything from flicking the keys to dropping and pounding it. The accordion took some abuse, but in the end what it gave back was a wealth of old sounding textures you can’t fake.
This instrument was recorded at 24 bit 96k, in dual mono – with an AT4050 for a wide perspective and a Schoeps CMC6.MK4 for a close perspective. Comes with 57 .wav files and 19 Kontakt .nki files (the .nki files require the full retail version of NI Kontakt 4.2.3 or later)
Get a huge variety of simple or complex lockdown mechanism sounds with a wide array of different latches and impacts with Lockdown, a performable Kontakt instrument and sound effects library.
We brought in dozens of props big and small to generate a massive array of source material recorded at 24 bit 192kHz. These included cameras, carabiners, wrenches, rack cases, knives, can openers, tongs, crimpers, solder suckers, file cabinet doors, vehicle doors and servos and much more – all with multiple unique performances per set.
Great care was taken to record each performance with the highest sonic quality and detail. We chose a pair of MKH50s in XY as our primary setup, creating a big, clean stereo image on every sound.
The designed collection uses samples based on the elements recordings that have been transformed into entirely new and different sounds using heavy processing and layering. It was created to produce interesting design and transition sounds quickly and easily. Lockdown includes over 500 fully lockdowns of all sizes and scales.
Little Boxes is a curated collection of four unique sound sets designed to compliment one another sonically and texturally. These textures move from acoustic to electroacoustic to analog synthesis – all programmed into beautiful Kontakt 4 instruments (full NI Kontakt
4.2.3 or later required).
A small device meant to be hung flat on the wall, the balls will swing and strike the strings if the ground begins to move.
This box was shaken, plucked, strummed, performed and ebowed to produce a beautiful palette of acoustic string textures.
In Kontakt those sounds evolved into a group of instruments that ran from folksy, zither like patches to lush, shimmering pads.
TEXTROBOT is a NI Kontakt instrument designed to help you in the sound design of UI sounds and to produce retriggered samples for VFX text animations.
All 165 sounds are easily accessible using a MIDI master keyboard from the first octave. You can choose a category to load a set of samples and play it manually, or in the retriggered way (if active) by holding down the note. The full version of NI Kontakt is required to use this library.
• Click (10 samples): very tight, clicky sounds for UI interface usage or small text VFX
• Bleeps (16 samples): it contains bleeping sounds, tones, and alerts for telemetrics and sci-fisound design
• Big Size (16 samples): a collection of low frequency sounds for big title animation
• Percussive (22 samples): organic and processed percussive sounds like shakers, maracas, and woods for multimedia apps or menu sound design
• Fun (30 samples): a collection of funny sounds for cartoonish motion graphics
• Digital (20 samples): glitches and lo-fi sounds for experimental videos
• Keys (28 samples): keyboards, typewriters, and mouse sounds
• Mechanical (23 samples): switches, clangs, squeaks, and metal impact sounds for mechanic motion graphics
The Squelch sound library is a collection of 6 radios, walkie talkies, and CBs recorded both through the speakers and in some cases through the line outs. Each device served up a broad palette of static, beeps, clicks, squelches, and random idle chatter.
Comes with 93 recordings with hundreds of individual sounds + one Kontakt instrument (instrument requires the full version of NI Kontakt 4 or higher).
The Kontakt instrument is a unique performable radio device designed for experimentation and discovery of the broad palette of sounds. It also includes a classic spring reverb unit with a custom interface created from a Pioneer SR202W. See the Kontakt interface here.
These authentic radio recordings are useful in sound design/film applications and can be twisted out into musical and sound design effects.
HARMONICS is a new designed sound collection that explores the inner beauty of resonating metals to create an extensive set of inspiring sonic material for sound design and film scoring – proudly presented by SampleTraxx.
Metal happens to have the right combination of speed of sound and decay. Different metal shapes produce a broad spectrum of soundscapes and tones.
HARMONICS investigates this hidden magic by designing and layering these unique timbres.
The result is an extensive set of designed evolving textures and designed metal elements which are great to create sound cues in minutes, metal hits, passby-reverses and evolving drones.
The nature of this soundpack doesn’t call for compressor or maximizer. Close attention has been paid to preserve the original dynamic excursion of each sound and fully enjoy its natural vibration and evolution.
Having a wide dynamic range guarantees more freedom in layering and arranging different elements to create endless variations.
The sonic material contained in the pack is all presented in a designed fashion and different levels of design are provided: from simple elements to evolving multilayered soundscapes and textures, all based on metallic sources. No external sounds apart from metals have been added to the mix.
Features:
86 Designed Textures and Elements (dur. up to 1’10″)
37 Hits (Hi and Low Designed Hits)
10 Drones
26 Pass-by Reverse
9 Tibetan Bowl (Raw Recordings)
9 Kontakt Instruments -Kontakt 5.5 full required for these (free player not supported)
Note: the WAV themselves files can be used without Kontakt
Motion Texures is a broad library with a narrow purpose: to draw sonic lines and create gently moving sonic textures.
The concept is that consistent sound of friction will translate well to visual design elements that have CG and text movement on screen.
We recorded the friction sounds of dozens of small to medium sized props in constant motion. Major categories include metal, plastic, cloth, wood and skin. Some of the most interesting sounds came from the props that had small cavities such as the spray can lid and the water bottle. The constant changing of the cavity state relative to the mics creates strange vocal sounds.
Once the sounds were recorded we employed a proprietary smoothing process as a second pass to the sounds and provided them in addition to the original textures. These smoothed out sounds still have the organic quality of the original recordings, but with far fewer transient events. The end result are sounds that feel straighter than the more circular sounding original textures.
Inside of the Kontakt instruments we stacked layers and effects to create a broad base of deep and interesting textures. Many of the Kontakt presets mangle the sounds far beyond recognition of the original recordings.
Indecent Machines is a sci-fi sample pack inspired by a concept of mechanical disrepair and emergent AI consciousness. It features 1.7 gigabytes of 24-bit/96khz samples and bundled Kontakt kits, created by producer/sound designer Chad Glenn.
These sounds originated from field and studio recordings of various machines which were then processed through custom DSP algorithms using Kyma and other sound design tools.
The result is a unique set of mutant robotics, mechanical snippets, evolving textures, rhythmic artifacts and menacing atmospheres appropriate for music and sound design projects of all kinds. Features 347 .wav files and 5 Kontakt kits (full version of NI Kontakt required for the Kontakt files).
Signal Return is a performable Kontakt instrument and soundset designed to create a wide variety of interesting and textured sounds.
All of the source material comes from recordings of various devices feeding back into themselves either electrically or acoustically. No software based speaker emulators or distortions were used in the creation of these sounds. Comes with 250 .wav files – more than 2 hours of recordings + 22 Kontakt instruments (these require the full version of NI Kontakt 5.0 or higher).

The Burroughs Protectograph that we acquired was manufactured around the turn of the 20th century and had a single unique function – to stamp and emboss checks for banks. The Burroughs corporation has been around since 1886, and was an early force in the adding machine, check stamper and typewriter industries. This Protectograph version had an electric mechanism that would move large printheads down through a ribbon and would stamp a check hard and repeatedly for as long as the print key was held down. Our machine was acquired in perfect working condition.
Its keys have a short through but a satisfying clack, and the punch mechanism is a huge whir stamp sound than can cycle if the punch button is held down. We rolled with the case both on and off, which revealed very different sounds from the main electric mechanisms.
We ran the whole session with three perspectives miked up – front by the keys, in the back by the punch and a wide perspective perfect for bgfx placement. The front and back mics were Schoeps CMC6.MK4 and the wide mic was an AT 4050 in omni about 5 feet away. Listen to the straight examples give a clear accounting of the type of sounds we got from this machine, and the bent examples show what can really be done with those sounds and the Kontakt instrument.
3 mic perspectives give full coverage on an antique typewriter in good working condition. The typewriter had a loose front plate and we clacked, hit and dropped it for a wide range of cool typewritery sounds. The Kontakt instrument presets requires the full version of NI Kontakt 4.2.3 or later.

With A Sound Effect, Asbjoern has created a web site where our international community can browse, learn, and share the vast fruits of our labors. Together we are accelerating the very real potential power of sound design as a recognized art form.
A Sound Effect is an excellent resource for us to keep our animated films sounding unique and exciting.
A Sound Effect is a great asset to have discovered.
We found the site very easy to navigate, purchasing and downloads were effortless and the effects themselves are awesome! Asbjoern has done us all a great service.
We’ll definitely be back!
There are many great independent sound effect libraries available these days. The main problem with having so many, is keeping track of them!
A Sound Effect is a great hub, and is one of the first places I visit to look for sounds by category or genre. I started coming here to see if I could find libraries that I knew I had heard, but forgot WHERE I had heard them.
And in the process discovered libraries I never would have found otherwise. Great work! Keep it up!
We're always looking for new sounds to mangle, so when A Sound Effect had a holiday sale, I tried them out.
The purchase experience is really smooth and quick, and delivery is almost instant.
I'll definitely come back to them again in the future!
A Sound Effect is a wonderful resource for indie sound effects libraries. On top of that, it has some of the finest sound design, film and game audio interviews!
I often need very specific types of sounds so I've become a big supporter of independent recorders.
Until now I've always had to go to their individual websites. Now I can find them all in one place.
And, Asbjoern is great to work with!
A Sound Effect is a well curated boutique sound effects shop and a great place to find industry interviews and learning resources.
