Submerged Tapes

Award winning sound designer, field recordist and composer based in Bristol, UK.

All my libraries contain extensive metadata in broadcast wave format and most contain metadata in soundminer proprietary format too.

Feel free to get in touch about libraries, design work or just to say hi at my site: submergedtapes.com

  • Polystyrene Destruction!

Hopefully, the name says it all. I took a claw hammer, saw, metal bar and my hands to various different types of polystyrene (packing peanuts, big stiff packing material and softer packing material) and wrenched lots of weird sounds out of them. Plenty of squeaky gross crunches and cracks useful for sweetening bone breaks, impacts and other gore stuff if you’re bored of celery and cabbages! Also good for sweetening up other foley stuff too and lots of the recordings contain lots of high frequency, squealy material which is fun for pitching. I included some designed stuff as well including a few UI bits, some pitched impacts, weird alien bug wings and various other bits and bobs. Recorded at 96Khz/24 Bit and processed in Reaper and RX.

  • A full library of recordings from a 2009 Ford Fusion Plus with a 1.6 litre Duratec petrol engine. Includes door opens and closes, windows up and down, seatbelts, switches, buttons, engine turn key, start and idle, revs and more. Recordings made using Sennheiser MKH416, 8050 and Rode NT5 mics into a Zoom F8 and F4, plus some additional recordings using a JRF contact mic.

Also includes three 7+ minute continuous driving interior ambisonics (Ambix B format) recordings with synced mono engine bay recordings. Covering turn key and start, driving through the countryside up to 60mph on dual carriageway, into the city and stopping. Made with Sennheiser Ambeo and ME2 mics.

If you need a no-nonsense, great quality library of an ordinary car, not a fancy flashy sports car as I often do, then this is the library for you! Everything is delivered in 24 Bit / 192 kHz making it useful for sound design purposes too. Need a massive metal impact? Pitch down one of those doors!

All files contain extensive metadata in both Soundminer and BWAV formats.

  • A collection of fine bleeps and bloops from two vintage toy synthesizers, a Major Morgan and a Stylophone.

Both synths were modified to coax some more unusual/interesting sounds out of them and the library includes some bonus designed sounds to give some inspiration to designers for the direction these sounds could be pushed in.

All sounds contain extensive metadata in both soundminer proprietary format and broadcast wave format to make finding these sounds and getting them into your project as easy as possible!

  • A library of designed ambiences, drones and background textures. Includes designed winds, underwater sounds and more abstract backgrounds.

Ideal to help bring your horror or sci-fi productions to life or for any other scenario where you need interesting, moody, dark background textures.
All files contain extensive metadata embedded in soundminer and broadcast wave formats for easy finding!
