On The Fly Audio seeks to buzz your ears with high quality, original, inspiring recordings.
Sometimes you find the sounds you’re looking for – and sometimes you find the sounds you were longing for.
Jorgo De Groof, founder of On The Fly Audio (Belgium), works since 2005 as a sounddesigner, composer and field recordist. He likes to create sounds with both real life objects as wel as with digital sources. Besides working many years for kids television productions (animation and live action) as a sounddesigner he has a background in writing and creating hearplays and making audio documentaries for private clients.
So with a lot of playful and colorful experience On The Fly Audio aims to release sound-libraries that spark the imagination and are just yummy.
This sound collection covers a wide range of sounds produced by this rare vintage Fire Truck from 1966, with a 8 valve V-304 engine. Besides the driving sounds there are also a lot of Foley recordings to make this vehicle come to life in any production. All in high quality 96/24 BWAV-files, recorded with high end equipment. All sounds include extensive metadata.
The recordings are multitrack. For the onboard sounds you’ll find synchronized recordings of engine (mono), exhaust (mono, and only for the driving sequences), cabin ceiling (stereo), cabin dashboard center (mono) and cargo area (mono). For the roadside recordings I used a Sennheiser MKH8070 to chase the passing vehicle.
Mind you that some sounds may sound very silent. This is to preserve the relative loudness between different perspectives. Place the different perspectives in sync on separate tracks in your DAW and adjust the balance.

This sound collection covers a wide range of sounds produced by this unique racing (kit)car from 1991. The engine is custom built and is a combination of elements of a Citroën 2CV engine and a Citroën Visa engine. Not only extensive driving sounds but also foley (doors open close, window knocks, body tapping, gear lever, blinkers…), horn blasts and engine loops. All in high quality 48/24 BWAV-files, recorded with high end equipment. All sounds include extensive metadata.
The recordings are multitrack. For the onboard recordings you’ll find synchronized recordings of engine, exhaust, cabin (back seat and front seat for open roof and back seat only for closed roof). For the roadside recordings you’ll find an ortf stereo pair (on a stand) and a long shotgun mic (handheld, tracking movement)

This sound collection covers a wide range of sounds produced by the Vintage 125CC motorcycle Vespa 1962 . All sounds recorded with high end equipment – 24 bit and 96KHz
All the files are mono. The stereo impression in the demo is created by means of panning.
In this collection of high quality sound-recordings you’ll find several tandem and multitrack recordings. Please note that phasing issues between the MKH 8070 and the DPA4061’s are perfectly normal because of fluctuating time differences. The 4061’s are always onboard, fixed and in phase in contrast to the MKH8070 which was handheld on the roadside or handheld pointing at the exhaust while driving along as a passenger.
Besides that also important to note:
The 5 LOOPED SOUNDS are not unique. They
are edits from the larger driving sounds. I just put these in for your convenience should you
quickly need some loops for your project. This is also true for one of the the Revs soundfiles.
(Heavy revs) I thought I just cut this one too for your convenience to quickly have a list of all
relevant revs in this library. So those six soundfiles are the only double content.

This sound collection covers a wide range of sounds produced by many different steam engines. In addition to the real engines there’s also a wide variety of Foley sounds which can be layered to make funny (steam) engines for cartoons for example. All sounds recorded with high end equipment – 24 bit and 96KHz (some in 48KHz)
The ‘MAIN’ demo gives a good taste of what’s inside. The ‘POTENTIAL KONTAKT demo gives a glimpse of what you can do with the FREE BONUS Kontakt Instruments. So the latter is just a demonstration, these sounds are not included as such!

With A Sound Effect, Asbjoern has created a web site where our international community can browse, learn, and share the vast fruits of our labors. Together we are accelerating the very real potential power of sound design as a recognized art form.
A Sound Effect is an excellent resource for us to keep our animated films sounding unique and exciting.
A Sound Effect is a great asset to have discovered.
We found the site very easy to navigate, purchasing and downloads were effortless and the effects themselves are awesome! Asbjoern has done us all a great service.
We’ll definitely be back!
There are many great independent sound effect libraries available these days. The main problem with having so many, is keeping track of them!
A Sound Effect is a great hub, and is one of the first places I visit to look for sounds by category or genre. I started coming here to see if I could find libraries that I knew I had heard, but forgot WHERE I had heard them.
And in the process discovered libraries I never would have found otherwise. Great work! Keep it up!
We're always looking for new sounds to mangle, so when A Sound Effect had a holiday sale, I tried them out.
The purchase experience is really smooth and quick, and delivery is almost instant.
I'll definitely come back to them again in the future!
A Sound Effect is a wonderful resource for indie sound effects libraries. On top of that, it has some of the finest sound design, film and game audio interviews!
I often need very specific types of sounds so I've become a big supporter of independent recorders.
Until now I've always had to go to their individual websites. Now I can find them all in one place.
And, Asbjoern is great to work with!
A Sound Effect is a well curated boutique sound effects shop and a great place to find industry interviews and learning resources.
