A collection of sounds recorded by a professional field recorder, who also happens to be a supervising sound editor.
There is a strong focus on interesting sounds that tell a story. I want you to use my sounds in your productions and be as happy as I am when I find the right sound for the right picture.
I am a Sound Recordist / Sound Designer / Supervising Sound Editor from Denmark with over 20 years of professional experience. I have won the Danish Film Academy Award for best sound 3 times, in 2004 for Reconstruction, 2011 for R and in 2013 for A Hijacking. In 2016 the film A War by danish director Tobias Lindholm was nominated for the best foreign language film at the Oscars, I was the supervising sound editor / sound designer on that film.
This sound effects archive contains sounds recorded in Cairo and Alexandria in September 2015. I spent a month in Cairo recording sounds. There are many crowds, traffic recordings and recordings of prayer calls. The city has 20 million people, 5 million cars and it never sleeps. It is truly a fantastic, noisy place, recorded in glorious 96 kHz/24 bit. I hope you enjoy the archive.
Looking for electric car sounds? This library delivers 211 files / 162 minutes of stereo recordings of the BMW i3 electric vehicle.
The BMW i3 is a B-class, high-roof hatchback manufactured and marketed by BMW with an electric powertrain using rear wheel drive via a single-speed transmission. Its underfloor Li-ion battery pack is offered in two capacities as well as with an optional range-extending gasoline engine. The i3 was BMW’s first mass-produced zero emissions vehicle and was launched as part of BMW’s electric vehicle sub-brand, BMW i.
As of December 2016, the i3 ranked as the world’s third best selling all-electric car in history with more than 65,000 units sold since its inception.
This very quiet car has been recorded using onboard DPA-4060 microphones, to capture the engine and tyre sounds. The different surfaces are gravel, asphalt and rumble strips on the highway. The interior sounds have been recorded using the Zoom H5 XY microphone. There are also contact mic recordings of the wheel housing using Schaller mics.
Passby sounds have been recorded using Line Audio CM3’s in an XY setup as well as the Zoom H5 XY microphone. There are passes on dry and wet asphalt as well as gravel at different speeds.
Finally the engine has been recorded using the Elektrosluch electromagnetic microphone, resulting in 33 minutes of electromagnetic madness in 96 kHz.
I sincerely hope you will find this sound archive useful!
Best,
Morten
This is the windmills sound effects archive from Morten Green Sound FX
27 soundfiles of totally 62 minutes of sound in 96 kHz 24 bit.
The windmills recorded in this archive are 6 old 45 metre tall windmills, generating electricity on the coast of the small Danish island Orø. They are rather old and worn out, so they generate a lot of interesting noises, especially when you get very close to them.
The structures are from metal, bolted into a concrete foundation with small openings, so you can actually get the microphones underneath the reverberant structure itself, for sounds from inside the windmills. The blades are made from glass fibre and pretty worn, so they give a lot of nice whistling noises.
There are recordings from many different distances to the windmills, ranging from 150 m to right underneath the windmill structure.
Most of the sound files are more than 2 minutes in length.
Enjoy!
Looking for electric car sounds? This library delivers 111 files / 123 minutes of 96k recordings in mono and stereo of the Renault Fluence Dynamique electric vehicle.
The Reanult Fluence was one of the first medium sized electric vehicles in Europe, originally produced in 2012. The car is based on the Renault Megane conventional vehicle.
In these recordings, we have recorded the engine with contact mics, capturing the raw sound of the otherwise very quiet electric engine.
We also have a lot of tire sounds on different surfaces, gravel, asphalt and rumble strips on the highway, as well as passby sounds.
With A Sound Effect, Asbjoern has created a web site where our international community can browse, learn, and share the vast fruits of our labors. Together we are accelerating the very real potential power of sound design as a recognized art form.
A Sound Effect is an excellent resource for us to keep our animated films sounding unique and exciting.
A Sound Effect is a great asset to have discovered.
We found the site very easy to navigate, purchasing and downloads were effortless and the effects themselves are awesome! Asbjoern has done us all a great service.
We’ll definitely be back!
There are many great independent sound effect libraries available these days. The main problem with having so many, is keeping track of them!
A Sound Effect is a great hub, and is one of the first places I visit to look for sounds by category or genre. I started coming here to see if I could find libraries that I knew I had heard, but forgot WHERE I had heard them.
And in the process discovered libraries I never would have found otherwise. Great work! Keep it up!
We're always looking for new sounds to mangle, so when A Sound Effect had a holiday sale, I tried them out.
The purchase experience is really smooth and quick, and delivery is almost instant.
I'll definitely come back to them again in the future!
A Sound Effect is a wonderful resource for indie sound effects libraries. On top of that, it has some of the finest sound design, film and game audio interviews!
I often need very specific types of sounds so I've become a big supporter of independent recorders.
Until now I've always had to go to their individual websites. Now I can find them all in one place.
And, Asbjoern is great to work with!
A Sound Effect is a well curated boutique sound effects shop and a great place to find industry interviews and learning resources.
