Character Cars is a library of traffic for accenting backgrounds.
This library is the best-isolated elements out of a 170 consecutive hour recording session pulling single elements like car horns, sirens, trucks, and interesting sounding car bys.
Each isolated element is grouped into strings of grab bags of different topics like car horns, sirens, helicopters, and of course cars so you can easily accent lulls in dialog with a characteristic sound.
The intent of this library wasn’t to get the most pristine elements, but to create easy to use grab bags of background specific moments at a street level that can pop
Fireworks frankly are a difficult thing to record due to a mixture of legal restrictions, location, and price. This little collection are all sorts of novelty and aerial fireworks shot in a very remote desert with no birds, bugs, cars or anything of the sort, recorded at 192 with a spaces pair of Sanken CO100k microphones in close proximity for pitch and speed manipulation.
No microphones were hurt in the making of this library
Gizmo is a mechanism library for designing mechanical actions in machinery without the engines. This library covers the gambit of steam, ronks, clicks, clanks, clunks, servos and all sorts of mechanical actions from various props.
Unlike most libraries, this one was recorded at 192 with a stereo pair of Sanken CO100k microphones for extreme lossless pitching, so you can take something small like a typewriter, and make it sound like a massive printing machine.
This is a collection of 2016 Toyota Prius sounds with 7 channel onboards covering two perspectives of the motor engine, electric engine, tailpipe, wheel well, and a stereo interior. Included is a collection of “foley” of doors, shift knobs etc. and various Pass Bys from two perspectives.
Electricity is a collection of various types of designed electricity sounds using various props and signal processing. No actual electricity was recorded in the creation of this library, its intent is for high intensity and combat electricity sounds that would be difficult to edit with acoustically recorded elements.
This is a collection of various types of paper being performed in common actions like turning pages, crumpling, tearing, and other handling sounds. Included are more bizarre textural sounds using paper like violent flapping, buzzing, bowing, and squeaking.
This collection also comes with two folders, a close up set of recordings, and a sister collection of medium-distant recordings back in the room. This is for use in background, like a person in an office turning a page over, a man shuffling a newspaper, or counting money on a table.
Many of the sounds have been recorded at high resolutions for use slowed down for textural and slow motion use as well.
Viscous materials are probably one of the more common elements that come up on a regular basis, and one of the grossest to record. Let me save you the trouble. Slime is a collection of different Viscous materials ranging from literal slime to more abstract slime-like sounding materials like rubber.
One of the featured sounds of the library is a gallon of slime being tossed around, man-handled, and squished.
All the items in this collection were recorded at 192khz with a Sanken CO100k, so there's a lot of flexibility to be had pitching and manipulating the sounds.
Before you stick your hand in that jar of mayo, give the demo a listen. It might just save you some time, and smelling like a sandwich the rest of the day.
The first mobile roomtone library! Parked Cars is a collection of roomtones of car interiors at different times of day, often in the same locations with both windows up and windows down.

Los Angeles Skylines is the first release of the Series 2000 collection from Kai Paquin. This library features understated traffic beds to build Los Angeles city ambiances. Covering a variety of different locations from the coast of Santa Monica to the Mountains of Pasadena, this library contains over 4 hours of rooftop and overlook recordings.
Each location was recorded for 15-20 minutes so you can find a variety of interesting moments like sirens, street walla, and trucks while having the flexibility to cut around those moments or be able to reuse the same recording on multiple scenes without it repeating.
Additionally, the library was carefully tagged with metadata, including flags in the recording pointing out where moments that pop out of the bed are making it easier to find specifics to cut in or around.
What is Odds and Ends?
Let me soothe your worried mind with a short concise explanation:
Odds and Ends is basically a general SFX library, but smaller. Most general libraries total up to about 100gb or more, whereas this is a lot of the same material, but aimed to supplement your already existing library.
Odds and Ends contains a variety of ambiances, studio foley, and unique one off recordings that couldn't be expanded into a full library; for instance recordings of a baby alligator chirping, or a small collection of submarine ambiances.
On that note, one of the most extensive portions of the library are 8gb of various stereo ambiances. Due to how much I traveled during the production of this library, I’ve covered quite a few locations, from the Pacific NW to the Deep South.
Take a look through the metadata sheet provided below, and give the demo a listen.
This collection of Air Conditioners, Vents, and Ducts gives a collection of understated airs and room tones appropriate for most every day situations.
Modular Synth is a collection collaborated by Ross Fish and Kai Paquin, this collection represents a series of one shot sounds featuring sample and hold, granular, and FM synthesis using a custom built modular synth rack.
Ronks is a collection of metal screaming, groaning, and resonating. This library primarily features dry ice resonating a large air duct in a variety of ways, but also covers a variety of smaller metal objects like cans, spoons, and small bits of metal.
This Muscle car was hoisted up on jacks and run up to 40 miles per hour, recorded from the hood, underbelly, interiors and tail pipes you’ll get full coverage of the car running, getting up to speed, and slowing to a stop. Included in the library is through car foley covering doors, glove box, seat belts, and seat adjustments.
Using a Magnetic Coil, this library contains electro-magnetic fields of a variety of household, commercial, and industrial electronics. Hear electronics like you’ve never heard them before in the Series 1000 Induction SFX Library
In a unique experiment, this glass breaking library was designed to use multi mic-ing from various locations in a large live room.
Mics were placed close, medium and distant ranges with a variety of different types of microphones. All the files in the library are labeled and begin at the same sample, and can be layered, or cut for multiple perspectives.
Useful for party scenes, fights, and instances with multiple perspective shots. (for instance reality television)

There are many great independent sound effect libraries available these days. The main problem with having so many, is keeping track of them!
A Sound Effect is a great hub, and is one of the first places I visit to look for sounds by category or genre. I started coming here to see if I could find libraries that I knew I had heard, but forgot WHERE I had heard them.
And in the process discovered libraries I never would have found otherwise. Great work! Keep it up!
We're always looking for new sounds to mangle, so when A Sound Effect had a holiday sale, I tried them out.
The purchase experience is really smooth and quick, and delivery is almost instant.
I'll definitely come back to them again in the future!
A Sound Effect is a wonderful resource for indie sound effects libraries. On top of that, it has some of the finest sound design, film and game audio interviews!
I often need very specific types of sounds so I've become a big supporter of independent recorders.
Until now I've always had to go to their individual websites. Now I can find them all in one place.
And, Asbjoern is great to work with!
A Sound Effect is a well curated boutique sound effects shop and a great place to find industry interviews and learning resources.
