Vehicle sound effects and recordings – cars, helicopters, motorcycles, airplanes, ships, trains and sci-fi
Need the sound of vehicles passing by? This sound pack is a composite collection of pass-bys, featuring (Suburban-, Passenger-, Freight-) Trains, Trucks and Cars that I on various freeways and railroads. These sounds come in handy not only for for the obvious purpose of giving the right sonic feel for trains, trucks and cars passing by – but also as design elements ans a great starting point to create a vast number of sci-fi style whooshes and pass-by effects.
This sound library features 60 sound clips of passenger locomotives and commuter cars. The tracks feature riding a train at various speeds in both first class and coach.
There are train takes from both interior and exterior perspectives, as well as some doors and horns and toilet flushes while moving.
Each engine is diligently labeled by engine type and version and detailed in full Soundminer metadata.

This massive Peterbilt Model 379 from 1988 is the trucker's truck with a “big cam” Cummins engine. The model has been featured in several classic car movies such as The Fast and the Furious, Gone in 60 Seconds, and Black Dog.
Now you can get the 7-channel recordings of this beast for your own projects, which consist of L+R exhausts, L+R interior, two engine channels and one compressor channel. Total driving time is 11:46. The library also contains start, stop, idle, revving without gears, lots of driving and the legendary jakebrake.
The Peugeot 307 SW sound fx library features 463 clips in 17.98 gigabytes of a 2004 French model. A total of 27 takes depict the sound of the car’s 2.0 litre 134 horsepower petrol straight 4 cylinder engine.
The collection includes 19 perspectives of the car. 11 onboard perspectives arrange 16 channels of microphones on the engine, at the exhaust, and in the interior (including an Ambisonic perspective). They capture driving at fast, medium, and slow speeds with constant RPMs, ramps, and gearshifts. The exterior perspectives (18 channels) include recordings on straightaways, corners, and at various distances with the car starting, turning off, departing, arriving, and passing by. The collection includes discrete performed effects of doors, dashboard instruments, horns, and more. There are also Altiverb and Waves impulse responses.
Every clip is embedded with 18+ fields of professional metadata.
The Peugeot P4 sound fx collection includes 26 takes from a French military unarmored off-road jeep. It includes a total of 276 sound clips and 9.52 gigabytes of recordings from the jeep’s 2.5 L XD3 diesel I4 engine in 25 channels.
The bundle includes both onboard and exterior clips at slow, medium, and fast speeds. The onboard seven perspectives includes takes from the interior, the engine, and exhaust at steady RPM and with ramps. The eight exterior perspectives include departures, passes, arrivals, and 3 point turns from microphones arranged at 3 locations. Also included are various performed effects of doors, switches, and so on. Each clip includes 18 fields of Soundminer metadata, plus BWAV metadata and MacOS spotlight comments.

The 1993 Italian Piaggio Ape TM P703V sound fx libary gathers 333 clips in 27.73 gigabytes of audio. It showcases the sound of a three-wheeled transport rickshaw and its single one cylinder gasoline engine.
The bundle presents 14 synchronized takes from both onboard and exterior perspectives. The 7 exterior perspectives arrange microphones in four positions to detail driving at slow to fast speeds while arriving, departing, and passing by, together with starting, idles, and shut downs. The 12 onboard perspectives collect recordings from the engine, exhaust, and interior (as well as Ambisonic perspective) while driving with gearshifts, ramps, and steady RPMs. Multiple performed effects of doors, windows, pedals, and more are also provided.

The sound bundle shares 13 synchronized takes of both onboard and exterior driving. The 12 onboard perspectives arrange microphones at the exhaust, engine, and at various locations on the frame to capture driving with steady RPMs, ramps, and gearshifts. The 9 exterior perspectives recorded arrivals, departures, and passes by at fast, medium, and slow speeds from four locations. Also included are three custom stereo mixes of the onboard perspectives, as well as multiple performed effects of kickstands, brakes, kick starting, and more.
The package is delivered with Pro Tools and Reaper mixing sessions, and 18+ fields of professional metadata embedded in each clip.
Get the sounds of an old Piaggio Zip 49cc, a 2 stroke scooter from 1999. Its peculiar sound makes it an inestimable tool for film and games, whether it is a karting game, a sandbox or a drama movie.
The library contains 72 onboard, 36 external and 38 foley recordings. Onboard recordings consist of 3 channels (two exhaust and one engine). A mix of these 3 channels has been included. Each single channel is included as well, so it can be layered as you please and make a different mix of the onboard recordings. External files include a stereo setup and a following shotgun.
The riding recordings, where many different actions are happening, contain descriptive markers to highlight interesting events in an otherwise featureless waveform. These markers can be read in programs such as Izotope RX, Reaper and Soundminer. The markers are also included as .txt files in a separate folder.
All files come in 96 kHz/24 bit with embedded metadata.

This library is quite self explanatory, ” Planes – Takeoffs & Landings ” is a collection of various commercial jets taking off and landing on a runway.
We recorded as close as possible to the airport fences with a multi microphones setup giving you different sonic perspectives.
The “Source” folder contains 130 files corresponding to 34 different recordings :
– AB stereo (LOM Usi)
– Cinela LCR array (Sennheiser MKH8040 ORTF + MKH8050 Center)
– a shotgun mic following the plane (Neumann KMR81)
The “ Designed” folder contains 46 files / 28 processed sounds such as fast jet fly by or sonic boom.
All the files are 96kHz /24bits and embedded with rich metadata ( Soundminer, Basehead, iXML ) .
Planes Passbys is a quick pack of 20 pass-bys from interior and exterior perspectives.
These recordings are clean of distractions like birds, traffic, wind, and crowds, and they gracefully pan for a realistic sounds image. Rather than spend all day chasing planes with Plane Finder, give this library a listen.

This sound library delivers 20 unique ambiences suited for space, planets or anything else science fiction. Each sound is 5 minutes in length giving you plenty of range to choose from. Featuring many different kinds of ambiences, ranging from calm winds to busy rain forests this library will be a great addition to any extra terrestrial atmosphere edit.All sounds were recorded using the Sound Devices Mix Pre 6 and a stereo pair of Sennheiser MKH 8020s.
In-depth recording of a Plymouth Cuda Convertible from 1971 with the extremely rare 426 Hemi engine and a 4-speed transmission.
Only two of these with the manual transmission were produced in 1971 so this car is obviously a clone but a very well built one. An original 1971 HemiCuda convertible is today extremely valuable, selling prices up to $5 million. The engine has 2 x 4-port Carter carburator and is (under)rated 425 horsepower by the factory.
The recording contains eight onboard microphones for interior, engine, intake and exhausts, and eight channels of exterior material.
It includes startup, idle, shutdown, driving at steady rpms, steady rpms in neutral, cruising, ramps, accelerations and decelerations through gears, approaches, passbys, aways as well as some foley like doors, hoods and knobs. Total recording length is 37m 39s.
A very in-depth multitrack recording of a Plymouth Road Runner 440 Sixpack from 1970.
The car has the 440cubic inches engine with the famous 3 x 2 barrel setup. The rating from factory was 390 horsepower. This car has the three geared automatic transmission.
The recording has eight onboard microphones, L+R interior, two engine, intake, L+R exhausts and finally a back center exhausts microphone. Exterior recording consists of four different stereo pairs, all in sync with the onboards.
The recording includes startup, idle, shutdown, blips, standing steady rpms, cruising, driving at steady rpms, various accelerations & decelerations, ramps, passbys, approaches, stops, aways and more.
It also contains foley recording of doors, hoods, gear shifter, switches and horn. Total recording time is 32min 7s.

The Polaris RZR sound fx collection includes 195 clips in 16.9 gigabytes of audio from a 2017 American all-terrain vehicle. It showcases the sound of its XP 1000 EPS engine with a ProStar 1000 HO 2-cylinder 4-rate DOHC 999cc with EFI fuel system and automatic variable transmission.
The bundle collects 9 synchronized takes from 30 channels of audio. The 11 onboard perspectives mount microphones at the engine, exhaust, and in various positions on the frame as the car drives with throttling, steady RPMs, and ramps. Three custom stereo mixes of the onboard channels allow for easy editing. The 8 exterior perspectives document departing, passing by, and arriving at slow, medium, and fast speeds.
The package includes Pro Tools and Reaper sessions with all fx pre-aligned to allow editors to begin mixing and editing immediately. Also included are 18 fields of Soundminer metadata, plus BWAV metadata and MacOS Finder comments.
The Pontiac GTO sound fx collection includes 606 sounds in 27.05 gigabytes of audio. It features the sound of a 400 c.i. 335 horsepower V8 engine from a 1967 model of the American car.
A total of 26 takes depict both onboard and exterior perspectives. 14 onboard perspectives (15 channels) share exhaust, engine, and interior microphone recordings (including an Ambisonic POV) of steady RPMs, gearshifts, and ramps. Very in-depth recording of a Porsche 911 SC 1981 with the 3.0 liter engine. It is rated 204 horsepower at 5900rpm. The car has the 5-speed 915 gearbox. The recording includes all kinds of driving at different speeds, cruising, startups, shutdowns, reversing, driving at constant rpms, various accelerations and decelerations, ramps and even faked unsteady bad driving. Lots of foley is also included like doors, hoods, switches and knobs, horn, seatbelt, electric windows and more.
Approx 25 channels out of which 8 channels are inboards covering interior, engine and exhausts.
The exterior microphones are positioned at different spots around the recording location and covers approaches, aways, passbys and more at different speeds.
A fun trivia is that this library was used for the main character’s car in the Swedish version of the TV-series “The Bridge”. Total recording time is 75min 28s.

The engine was recorded in sync with cabin interior ambients, and you’ll find different styles of driving – from casual city driving, through accelerations on a highway up to rpm ramps and constant rpm loops for game audio.
In addition to engine recordings, this sound effects library features exterior passes, whooshes and other road related sounds recorded in mono and stereo. Last but not least, there are foley recordings that covers interior and exterior perspectives of different activities.
The Porsche Macan S 3.0 V6 sound library features 198 high-quality files recorded with a multi-mic setup. The Engine was recorded in sync with interior cabin ambient, and you can expect different styles of driving. From casual city driving, through accelerations on a highway up to rpm ramps and constant rpm loops for game audio.
In addition to engine recordings, this sound effects library features exterior passes, whooshes and other road-related sounds recorded in mono and stereo on dry asphalt.
Last but not least, different foley were recorded to cover exterior and interior activities. In addition to designed onboard recordings, there are also premixed stems for the engine, intake and exhaust and RAW files, of each microphone without any post-processing.

There are many great independent sound effect libraries available these days. The main problem with having so many, is keeping track of them!
A Sound Effect is a great hub, and is one of the first places I visit to look for sounds by category or genre. I started coming here to see if I could find libraries that I knew I had heard, but forgot WHERE I had heard them.
And in the process discovered libraries I never would have found otherwise. Great work! Keep it up!
