Kontakt Instruments are based on Photosynthesis an open source engine made by Jeremiah Pena from exoticstates.com. You can easily access filters, 13 effects, a rhythm section featuring a step sequencer, filter sequencer, 2 filter LFOs, and gain/pan/pitch LFOs. The samples can be used as regular .WAV files, but the Kontakt Instruments require the full version of Kontakt 5 (not included).
Metal Atmosphere is a collection of contact microphone recordings of wire fences vibrating in the wind.
The library consists of 29 recordings ranging from 1 minute to over 10 minutes in length. These have been recorded by taping JrF contact microphones to wire fences and other structures through which sound travels easily.
Most of the sounds are made by the wind “playing” the wires as a huge stringed instrument, while a few others are recordings of submerged wooden fences. The tone is generally dark, even menacing, bringing desolate spaces to mind.
The sounds can be used as backgrounds even if they technically aren’t proper ambiences, as there is a certain degree of similarity between the two channels which creates a fake stereo field. About half of the files also include wind gusts and wind-specific dynamics which renders them easily identifiable as wind sounds, only with extra metal elements added. Additionally there are countless impacts, risers and swells included which can easily be cut out and used as spot effects. All files are recorded and mastered at 24/96 quality which makes them excellent sound design elements ripe for serious processing.
In total, more than 2 hours of metal atmospheres and resonances from unique sources – tagged with comprehensive metadata.
• In Metal Corral, get a visceral collection of metallic screeches from a corral on a working cattle ranch. Wail on the paddock sections with a t-post and hear guttural resonances from 50 interlocking sections. Hear latches clacking with frenetic vigor and clanging metallic booms. Hear thick, tonal growls resonating like fog horns and single squeaks stuttering with real grit. Hear gates grating with the visceral sound of an iceberg tearing through the Titanic.
• This library offers you an extensive collection of metals painstakingly performed to bring these inanimate objects to life and transform them into intensely gritty living textures.

The Metal Forge ensemble included is a simplified version of our Forge ensemble. It comes pre-loaded with various Metal samples for the ability to quickly create new sounds from the provided material.
Metal Souls
I spent a great deal of time exploring pitch manipulation with this library. Much of it relied on rendered processing to acquire the aesthetic that I wanted. My vision was to make something ethereal and vocal but also a bit vague.
Metal Hits, Scrapes & Squeaks
Props include objects such as sheet metal, sledgehammers, paint cans, metal buckets, metal grating, metal marbles, cups, pots and pans, dry ice (contributing squeaks and squeals), metal bars, metal stands, chains and more.
Metal Resonances is a pack full of resonating metal that was made resonant with contact from dry ice. This creates otherworldly metallic tones which we carefully recorded and crafted into this product.
The pack contains everything needed to create all sorts of creaks and cranks and can be used to sound design everything from robots, bridges, hatches, hinges, cars, horror SFX, UI. There are also a very expressive trait to some of the sounds, and can probably be made into weird creatures and other unexpected things.
The entire pack has unique descriptive meta data for each file to make it easy to navigate between the different sounds.
The pack was captured in 96khz and 192khz and some sounds have two different perspectives to choose from. The 96khz version is usually from a close-up handheld perspective or in direct contact with the material, where 192kHz comes from carefully miced up static positions.
Recorded with two Oktava MK 012 in spaced stereo configuration and a Sony PCM m-10
Metallitronic is sound designer Nathan Moody’s latest collection of intense textures, a library of nearly three hours’ worth of metallic membranes and objects excited by electronic signals.
Metallitronic was created using advanced synthesis techniques played back through various transducers into cymbals, gongs, bowls, steel plates, prefab metal buildings, and other resonant metallic objects, close-miked in stereo with extended-frequency-range microphones. This collection radically expands a sound designer’s palette of stressed-metal sounds, horror and tension elements, crystalline creaks and groans, unsettling background atmospheres, rattling vehicular interiors, creature sound sweeteners, the sound of massive machinery, earth-shaking rumbles, and stochastic, complex rhythms.
Some textures let the complex synthesizer textures shine through – intense on their own, even if they weren’t amplified through metal – but the primary focus is on metallic drones, hits, pings, stresses, groans, wails, resonances, rattles, and unique timbres that can be layered into almost any project. The scale of the sounds ranges from detailed to overwhelmingly massive. The sounds invite aggressive filtering and extreme pitch shifting.
Every sound is recorded in stereo at 24 bits, 192 kHz, and many sounds have ultrasonic frequencies. This library includes nearly three hours of recordings, all fully tagged with metadata. Multiple articulations are ganged into single files for convenience and organization.
Microbes is 76 minutes/2.12 Gb of microscopic life forms skittering and scurrying about in their strange world. 326 separate files – recorded in 24bit/96kHz using various microphones.
A construction kit of the sounds you need to design organisms on the microscopic level. Whether you're making a medical animation, a nature documentary or something entirely fictional, Microbes delivers in skittering, fluttering and slithering sounds. Anything from single-cell organisms to complex insects is possible. Sounds are grouped in a variety of creature “species”, allowing you to create different voices with a good amount of nuance in performance. You also get a range of bubbling and swarming sounds, as well as wet and slimy elements. To complete your microscopic universe, there are a number of abstract and otherworldly ambiances.
Sounds were created using various physical instruments and props, such as a hardware modular synth, bowed metal springs, a cactus and good fashioned old voice acting. No actual microbes were harmed (or even consulted) during production. You can read more about the creation of Microbes here.

There are many great independent sound effect libraries available these days. The main problem with having so many, is keeping track of them!
A Sound Effect is a great hub, and is one of the first places I visit to look for sounds by category or genre. I started coming here to see if I could find libraries that I knew I had heard, but forgot WHERE I had heard them.
And in the process discovered libraries I never would have found otherwise. Great work! Keep it up!
We're always looking for new sounds to mangle, so when A Sound Effect had a holiday sale, I tried them out.
The purchase experience is really smooth and quick, and delivery is almost instant.
I'll definitely come back to them again in the future!
A Sound Effect is a wonderful resource for indie sound effects libraries. On top of that, it has some of the finest sound design, film and game audio interviews!
I often need very specific types of sounds so I've become a big supporter of independent recorders.
Until now I've always had to go to their individual websites. Now I can find them all in one place.
And, Asbjoern is great to work with!
A Sound Effect is a well curated boutique sound effects shop and a great place to find industry interviews and learning resources.
