Horror Sound Effects

Scary, creepy, nasty horror sound effects and gore sounds

  • Metallitronic is sound designer Nathan Moody’s latest collection of intense textures, a library of nearly three hours’ worth of metallic membranes and objects excited by electronic signals.

Metallitronic was created using advanced synthesis techniques played back through various transducers into cymbals, gongs, bowls, steel plates, prefab metal buildings, and other resonant metallic objects, close-miked in stereo with extended-frequency-range microphones. This collection radically expands a sound designer’s palette of stressed-metal sounds, horror and tension elements, crystalline creaks and groans, unsettling background atmospheres, rattling vehicular interiors, creature sound sweeteners, the sound of massive machinery, earth-shaking rumbles, and stochastic, complex rhythms.

Some textures let the complex synthesizer textures shine through – intense on their own, even if they weren’t amplified through metal – but the primary focus is on metallic drones, hits, pings, stresses, groans, wails, resonances, rattles, and unique timbres that can be layered into almost any project. The scale of the sounds ranges from detailed to overwhelmingly massive. The sounds invite aggressive filtering and extreme pitch shifting.

Every sound is recorded in stereo at 24 bits, 192 kHz, and many sounds have ultrasonic frequencies. This library includes nearly three hours of recordings, all fully tagged with metadata. Multiple articulations are ganged into single files for convenience and organization.

  • Drones & Mood Sound Effects Dare_Small Pack Play Track 50 sounds included, 11 mins total $10

“Dare” is a small pack of 50 atmospheric elements (WAV, 96kHz/24bit) suited for horror productions.

The following musical instruments were used to create Dare: An Ukulele, Transverse flutes, a Kalimba and a Melodica.

  • A unique collection of 141 useful effects, created knocking, scraping and disturbing a 12-string acoustic guitar.

These sounds were recorded and processed with the intention of providing an interesting , different and unique set of audio effects.

This collection is divided into two folders, for clean recordings, and processed sounds:

    • Clean (71 Sounds): hits, knocks, scrapes and various string sounds.

    • Processed (70 Sounds): Processed and re-designed hits, drones and swells.

All sounds were recorded, edited and processed at 24-bit / 96kHz, with embedded meta data.

  • Microbes is 76 minutes/2.12 Gb of microscopic life forms skittering and scurrying about in their strange world. 326 separate files – recorded in 24bit/96kHz using various microphones. UCS-compliant.

A construction kit of the sounds you need to design organisms on the microscopic level. Whether you’re making a medical animation, a nature documentary or something entirely fictional, Microbes delivers in skittering, fluttering and slithering sounds. Anything from single-cell organisms to complex insects is possible. Sounds are grouped in a variety of creature “species”, allowing you to create different voices with a good amount of nuance in performance. You also get a range of bubbling and swarming sounds, as well as wet and slimy elements. To complete your microscopic universe, there are a number of abstract and otherworldly ambiances.

Sounds were created using various physical instruments and props, such as a hardware modular synth, bowed metal springs, a cactus and good fashioned old voice acting. No actual microbes were harmed (or even consulted) during production. You can read more about the creation of Microbes here.

    You get:
    •Designed sounds of microscopic life
    •Slither, skittering and fluttering creatures
    •Several distinct species
    •Searchable file names
•BWF Metadata embedded – with more included in CSV and ODS (OpenOffice) formats.

  • Drones & Mood Sound Effects Cloud Piano Play Track 20 sounds included, 20 mins total $10

This small, highly focused sound library features drones and textures created solely with sounds from a 1950’s Cable upright piano.

These sound effects range from low, dark, and pulsating, to high and shimmering and could easily work in sci-fi, suspense, thrillers, or fantasy. While they can sound otherworldly, the sounds are actually quite organic. The sounds were made with looped and layered tone clusters and ambience recorded inside the piano – no granularization, synthesis, or additional processing like reverb were employed.

They can be used alone or mixed with other sounds to great effect.

  • Doom Drones contains more than 3Gb of eerie, doomful, dark, atmospheric field recordings, designed drones and backgrounds. Perfect for something in the realm of a David Lynch film, ambient music production, a horror film, or just to set the mood of a foreboding soundscape.

Each artist made 60 custom loops for a total of 120 loops. With SoundMorph focusing more on field recordings and subtle tonal design and Arovane focusing more on dynamic synthetic textures and sound design. Both perfectly suitable as layers or final assets, depending on their use, Doom Drones is a great addition for anyone wanting to enhance dark ominous moments.

All field recordings were captured with a mid/side stereo setup consisting of 2 Schoeps CMC6 bodies, Schoeps mk5 & mk8 capsules housed in a Rycote AE windshield running into a Sound Devices 722.

  • Frustration. You’ve spent hours on a project, only to end up with a sound scape that feels incomplete. The action scene feels empty, the weapons don’t sound heavy enough, the transitions don’t pack enough of a punch, the space ship doesn’t feel large enough and the monsters aren’t sufficiently scary.

The Augmentation Elements library has been built with this problem in mind. Due to the library’s abstract nature, the Risers, Stings, Swells and Whooshes can be molded and manipulated into adding that missing element that you’re looking for, and sweetening the whole mix.

In order to save you time and help you quickly find the sounds that you need, SoundMiner metadata has been carefully created for each individual file. There are no ‘Scream, 1’ and ‘Scream, 2’ in this library! Every single file is individually described, and the use of numbers is not employed!

Have a look at the metadata list further down the page!

Now, Your futuristic energy weapons don’t sound full enough? Try layering some of the stings and swells underneath them.

That large space ship doesn’t seem large enough? Grab some whooshes and pan them to your heart’s delight.

The alien doesn’t sound scary enough? Some of the stings sound eerily close to vocalizations. Grab them and run wild.

Are crucial transitions in your film lacking punch? Drag some of those risers into your DAW and see which one fits best!

If you have any questions about this library, feel free to quickly send me an e-mail. I tend to reply within minutes.
