The Hard Drives sound effects library features recordings of four hard disk drives (3.5 inch – 5400 & 7200 RPM). All essential hard drive sounds are included (boot up, read/write/copy/delete, power down) that will work great for general computer sounds and ambience.
Each hard drive was opened up, manipulated, and ultimately destroyed to create a collection of raw, abstract and unique sounds. Found materials such as metal, cardboard, plastic, and tools were used to control the hard drive's motor, platter, and head actuator. These sounds work especially well for creating the sounds of mechanical robot movements, electric motors, and futuristic machinery.
Sound Mind Heavy Industry sound effects library is a massive collection of over 600 sound files of unique and hard to access machines and industrial ambiences, recorded both interior and exterior. To create this 45+ GB pack we went underground and climbed on constructions, we have been in both very hot and cold, humid and smelly places, wearing funky protective clothing, helmets and glasses.
You will find large, heavy machines sounds in it, industrial vehicles, as well as pneumatic, electric, diesel or even antique steam engines sounds and many metal, wooden, debris and also liquid textures.
During our searches we found many unusual sounds with great potential for sound design.
Sounds were recorded multi-mic and from different perspectives, giving large variety for designing purposes. We used microphones with extended frequency range (Schoeps CMC6XT MS kit, Sanken CO-100k) recording on 192kHz sample rate, shotgun mics (Sennheiser MKH-8060, MKH-815T, Neumann KMR81/KM120 MS kit) as well as Trance Audio Inducer stereo contact microphone (which was very useful in noisy environments and which also has very wide frequency range). We used Sound Devices 702, 744 recorders with MixPre, plus Zoom F8 and Sony PCM D-50.
High Desert Chainsaw contains the many sounds of a chainsaw as it chews through live oak tree trunks and branches. Whether you’re designing the sound of a deadly weapon for a horror film or a spaceship engine in a video game, watch out for this small pack of dangerously sharp chainsaw sounds!

Go for a ride on one of Japanese engineering’s finest motorcycles! The Honda Rebel 300 has a classic sound, classic look, and at 192 kHz sounds surprisingly heavy for a 300 cc engine. In this library you get all the options with onboard mic recordings ranging from 0 to 50 mph, engine breaking, gear shifting, slowing down, hitting turns and curves, accelerating, decelerating, and idling. You get isolated key turns, kickstand, and gear shifting. On board files are mono and pass bys and “drive aways” from 0 to 40 mph are in stereo recorded using mid-side technique for a great realistic stereo spread. You get separate left to right and right to left pass bys and drive bys at 10, 20, 30, and 40 MPH. Great care was taken during the recording and editing process to ensure the maximum flexibility of these sounds. All source material was recorded at 24/192kHz using the Sennheiser MKH 8050 mic which captures frequencies up to a minimum of 50kHz. All processing and design for this collection has been done at 24/192kHz.

The Inner ambience sound effects library is a collection of high definition sounds recorded inside various spaces using matched stereo contact microphones.
Each ambience has its own unique character and natural frequency modulation.
Some of them has constant velocity like an industrial hum, power block energy field, fans and compressors, while others have weird fluctuations like road columns affected by wind and passing-by cars, bridge columns, fences, water pipes: some of the mechanical and electrical sequences were recorded as well, such as water pump, lawn mowers, automatic window rollers, pool cover mechanism and others.
The audio files could be used, as they are – for dark, eerie, confusing atmospheres or elements in your game or film projects.
It is a good source for further manipulation and designing new sounds as it is recorded in 24/96. In addition to the pack there are designed sounds of these recordings to give you an idea of how you can push them in a different creative way and of course use it in your projects as well.

With A Sound Effect, Asbjoern has created a web site where our international community can browse, learn, and share the vast fruits of our labors. Together we are accelerating the very real potential power of sound design as a recognized art form.
A Sound Effect is an excellent resource for us to keep our animated films sounding unique and exciting.
A Sound Effect is a great asset to have discovered.
We found the site very easy to navigate, purchasing and downloads were effortless and the effects themselves are awesome! Asbjoern has done us all a great service.
We’ll definitely be back!
There are many great independent sound effect libraries available these days. The main problem with having so many, is keeping track of them!
A Sound Effect is a great hub, and is one of the first places I visit to look for sounds by category or genre. I started coming here to see if I could find libraries that I knew I had heard, but forgot WHERE I had heard them.
And in the process discovered libraries I never would have found otherwise. Great work! Keep it up!
We're always looking for new sounds to mangle, so when A Sound Effect had a holiday sale, I tried them out.
The purchase experience is really smooth and quick, and delivery is almost instant.
I'll definitely come back to them again in the future!
A Sound Effect is a wonderful resource for indie sound effects libraries. On top of that, it has some of the finest sound design, film and game audio interviews!
I often need very specific types of sounds so I've become a big supporter of independent recorders.
Until now I've always had to go to their individual websites. Now I can find them all in one place.
And, Asbjoern is great to work with!
A Sound Effect is a well curated boutique sound effects shop and a great place to find industry interviews and learning resources.
