We sought out 12 very special bridges in particular locations and sampled many different performances on them to elicit the right sorts of impacts that we were looking for.  Each performed impact has 3 layers, 2 mono and 1 stereo, all with different perspectives due to mic placement.  These sounds are highly dynamic, containing an artful blend of the locale they were captured in, and can add some very rich color to any explosion, impact, or crushing event in your editing mix.  Go ahead and do your best (or worst)!

  • Foley Sound Effects Queetsh – 192kHz Squeaks and Scrapes Play Track 633 sounds included $42

    I went there, so you don't have to. The nerv wrecking sounds of a fork scraped across a plate, the annoying scratches of fingernails on a coated pot are as well part of this library as many similar and sometimes less unpleasant sounds.

    The major part of this library has been recorded in 192kHz with Earthworks QTC 50 microphones. Frequencies up to over 90 kHz are captured with plenty of the noises and allow for decent pitch and bend fun. Plastic, wood, metal, glass, porcelaine, syntetic leather and rubber has been used to perform squeaks, screeches, squeals, creaks, groans and scratches. Each material has been dragged and rubbed against each other in different speed and with varying pressure to make sure to get multiple variations of each sound.

    This versatile library is a rich resource and a starting point for creature sound design, iron weapon action, robotic and machine movements and many more. Also great for music production – check the demo. Anything that should make the audience goose bumps or sound old an tortured will profit from “QUEETSH”.

  • Whoosh Sound Effects Tubular Play Track 365 sounds included, 62 mins total $28

    This library is the result of tinkering with shotgun mics recording inside of different tube structures. When our initial tests produced a wide range of sonic colors, we went all in.

    The tubes used include organic and man-made materials, some rigid, some flexible, some dense, some light, all with varying lengths, diameters, and thicknesses. They consist of bamboo, PVC, 2 variations of vinyl, thin plastic, copper, tin, rubber, dense foam, and a steel-coiled membrane. Each material has a different effect on the sounds passing through them. We generated turbulent drones, thick strikes, resonant scrapes, noisy bells, delicate debris, and more. The overarching characteristics are soft, insulated, and misty. Due to the behavior of the waves in the open tubes and the pickup pattern of the shotgun mics, there is a natural frequency modulation that gives the sound a slightly narrowed, hollow timbre. They work very well in simulated settings, enclosed spaces, and when there is a need to exaggerate the magnitude of tiny worlds. But they are equally as useful as raw design fodder, especially when a unique texture is needed.

    This is our first library created solely for the sake of experimentation, though based on the results, it may not be the last!

    KLAP Sound took a piano and tortured it, dismembered it and finally destroyed it—and recorded the whole process. For the making of this library, they used several tools such as hammers, screwdrivers, knives, and saws, as well as props like dirt, send, gravel, forks and other sharp objects.     Over 375 sounds of creaking materials, including breaking cables, ropes under tension and about to split, wires and strings under stress, metal friction causing tension. Recorded with a combination of Sanken CO100K and Nevaton microphones for full frequency sound content. Saved as 192KHz these files allow for high resolution editing. Useful for impact sounds in cinema, games or documentary, but also for cartoon sounds or even creature sounds as many of the recordings contain vowel-like screeching and scraping.

    Imagine a scene where a rope is about to break over an edge, an object being torn by a huge cable, a wooden structure about to collapse under stress and so on… Our brain is triggered by those rattling sounds or spine-breaking cracks coming from little fibers being split apart, parts of the structure creaking, wires scraping over edges…

    These sounds can be perceived as delicate but have a great psychological impact as we interpret these and know what is about to happen. So suspense is built with both background and close-up sounds. Useful when building tension, when creating a sense of upcoming climax, these sonic elements will work out to amplify the details that are often important but not always visible for the eye.
