  • Get the sounds of a Printrbot 3D printer – with four NEMA 14 stepper motors -, in this interesting SFX library by New Sound Lab.

The high torque motors connected to a pulley system control the X-Y-Z movements of the aluminum extruder and metal print bed. When printing three-dimensional objects, these fast and precise movements result in a unique barrage of percussive and rhythmic mechanical noise.

These sounds were captured using three different recording setups: Barcus Berry contact mics, RF coils, and combined contact mic / RF coil into a Sound Devices 702 recorder.

The resulting sounds are a mix of grainy, gritty atonal patterns, robotic percussive bleeps, glitchy digital beeps/clicks, low fidelity drones, and chaotic noise. Both raw recordings, and processed elements are included and ready for further sound manipulation.

  • Process Malfunction features 40 intricate future technology glitch production elements for science fiction scenarios where computers are going way out of control. You'll hear corrupt data streams, servers overloading, user interface issues, generative, abstract rhythms and more in this detailed exploration of what the computers of tomorrow may sound like when they go wrong.

Perhaps the mainframe has been compromised from a series of lethal hacker attacks or alien communication signals are interfering with the network, maybe the CPU has just seen better days… Whatever the cause of the failure, the machines have been corrupted and they are struggling, screaming and hanging on for their last bleep…

  • Computer Sound FX from SoundBits features 650 computer noises, glitches, digital distortions, stutters, bleeps, signals, interfaces, buttons, loading and feedback

  • The Floppy Drives sound effects library features recordings of seven computer disk drives: two 3.5″ floppy drives, one 5.25″ floppy drive, three Zip drives, and one SuperDisk drive.

All drives were taken apart to access and manipulate the stepper/eject motors to create unique sounds. These range from electronic percussive bleeps and glitchy noises, to electromechanical motor movements.

An Arduino UNO microcontroller board was connected to one of the 3.5″ floppy drives, allowing precise control of the drive’s stepper motor via custom software code. A midi keyboard was interfaced to the system, giving the ability to control the back-and-forth movement of the read/write heads via notes on the keyboard. This essentially turned the drive into an instrument, producing a new set of sounds not existing in the drive’s normal functions.

  • I made these sounds with my mouth, dried them off, and shined them up for your use! In this package, you’ll find 221 polished sound effects to use for all manner of user interface. Some are clicky, some a poppy, some are breathy, and some are plain ol’ goofy (all very technical language, you see). Regardless of their aesthetic, they are all 96kHz/24bit quality WAV files and drag n’ drop ready.

The library contains several complete boot sequences of 10 different laptop and desktop computers ranging from an old ATARI PC-2, going over to Pentium I and III, Celerons and Core Duo machines.
Each booting sequence was recorded from different positions within the computer casings.
Additionally, all included components are available as separate takes so that each computer is entirely featured with its hard disks, power- and CPU fans plus all those other strange noises that occurred. As bonus, 25 extra sounds from external hard disks and blowers of all kind are included in this library.

  • The Infographic SFX Library contains more than 480 sound effects ready to use within your infographic animation, presentation or education and infotainment videos.

The sounds are also suitable for Game or UI design.

The Library consists of 4 main categories: Info_Elements (containing 7 Subcategories), Info Whooshes, Misc_Organic_and_Mechanic and Pencil_and_Paper.

The main folder Info_Elements is subdivided into the folders Bubble Pops, Alters_Beeps_and_Bells, Counter, Up_and_Down, Clicks_and_Buttons, Notifications and Vibrating. These Sounds are your Building Blocks for Infographics per se. Charts growing, Elements appearing, Data counting etc.

The other main folders contain either elements to link between sheets of data (e.g. with whoosh sounds) or are additional sound sources to make your animation come to life, with pencil scratches, paper tears or recordings of tape machines or photo cameras and many more.

All sounds are available as WAV files in 44,1kHz 16bit for direct use in your projects.

  • Databending: A digital art form where flaws in digital systems are exploited and used for creative purposes.

Data Disruption contains 200 sounds sourced from raw computer files which have been interpreted as audio data. Bitmaps, executables, plugin files and more have been exploited to bring you a unique, varied collection of sound effects and atmospheres ready for a range of productions.

This sound collection has 100 'raw' files which include harsh, random data noises, intense drones and a versatile selection of glitch one shots as well as 100 processed sounds which were subject to extreme editing and mangling to deliver an array of abstract sonic artefacts.

Most useful for scenarios where computer technology – known or otherwise – is glitching out, these sounds are best suited to Science Fiction productions which call for the noise of broken communications, signal failures, ailing machines, industrial settings, planetary ambience and dystopian soundworlds.

That's not to say they won't also come in handy for Glitch/IDM music producers looking to build up an original collection of sounds for their latest kit, or for the creative sound designer to further shape these sounds into anything from user interface clicks, blips and bleeps to surreal soundscapes and beyond.
