Screams of Agony is a library designed for provocative soundscapes from the extremes of horror to comedy. This library, designed for customizability and versatility, features nearly 20 different people recorded in a treated, studio vocal booth, pushing the limits of their voices. The performers were given the direction of scream like you’re being tortured”. The resulting recordings range from blood curdling, to goofy. You may feel a shiver run up your spine, or find yourself laughing uncontrollably over the vocal performances presented here. These recordings are as useful in the foreground as they are in the background of the soundscape and absolutely soar when layered together for ambiences of mayhem or apocalypse or glazed with reverb for surreal, dreamlike effects.

For Old Broken Piano we have recorded an old piano manufactured in the 1940s by the brothers Manegold. It has not been maintained and tuned for decades, giving it a unique, dark and nostalgic sound character.
The instrument was recorded with a Sennheiser MKH 8040 Stereo Pair connected to a Sound Devices 702T.
MKH 8040 are microphones with extended frequency response up to 50.000 Hz, which is great if you want to further process, re-pitch or stretch audio files.
Rather unconventional approaches were used to „play“ the piano: Not a single key was touched! It was performed using a violin bow, various mallets and sticks, kitchen utensils, sticky tape and bare hands. The casing of the piano was partly taken apart to get direct access to the strings and the interior components of the instrument.
A wide array of interesting sounds have been achieved by bowing, scraping or hitting single and multiple strings or parts of the wood body. For longer resonances, the sustain pedal was pressed down during almost all recordings.
Old Broken Piano is a collabration between SampleTraxx and german sound designer Sebastian Emling.
This library is the ideal companion for any professional sound designer, trailer or film composer.

Embark on a journey through time with the latest addition to the MEDIEVAL PHRASES series: FIDDLE & NYCKELHARPA. With the Fiddle, with its rich and expressive tones, coupled with the Nyckelharpa’s distinctive resonant strings, we invite you to capture the mood of medieval times. Composers and producers can now use dramatic live performances by outstanding performers or freely play their instruments with varied articulations.
Imagine the bustling markets and vibrant festivals of late medieval Europe, where the rhythm and bounce of the Fiddle & Nyckelharpa set feet tapping and light the hearts of weary travelers. These instruments were the lifeblood of celebration, often heard at markets and taverns above the chatter of merchants and the laughter of children. Their history is woven through countless generations, where they not only provided entertainment but also served as a cultural heartbeat during times of both hardship and prosperity.
MEDIEVAL PHRASES FIDDLE & NYCKLEHARPA carry within tales of the past, each string resonating with stories untold. The Fiddle’s bow dances across strings to produce a vibrant, rhythmic melody, while the Nyckelharpa’s keyed fiddle design adds an otherworldly depth. These sounds, once echoing through medieval tavern halls and open markets, are now crisply captured for the modern composer. With MEDIEVAL PHRASES, breathe new life into your medieval compositions, delivering an authentic experience that is both profound and exhilarating.

Typewriters is a sound effects collection chock-full of vintage typewriters making sounds beyond the simple click-clack-clunk heard in so many TV shows and movies. I was curious if there was more to the sound of these old machines than meets the naked ear. Would recording them with high-end Barcus Berry contact microphones help bring out the best in them sonically? After recording 20 typewriters for this library, and performing a variety of keystrokes and actions on each in isolation, I can definitively say, yes.
Included are standard, portable and ultraportable machines from the early 20th century to the mid-1970s. Each machine, metal or plastic, emits sounds that are almost musical in nature. These files can enhance your next sound design project in nuanced ways that exceed the usual clickity-clack-clunk-thwack-smack we associate with typewriters. You’ll get a variety of zips, rips, twangs, growls, bounces, snaps, zings, rings and dainty end-of-line warning bell dings.
TRINITY DRUMS 2 allows for seamless arrangements and manipulation of groove elements. Featuring three layers with varying complexity that can be used independently or in combination with each other, it’s suitable to rock your socks off both in your studio or on stage.

There are many great independent sound effect libraries available these days. The main problem with having so many, is keeping track of them!
A Sound Effect is a great hub, and is one of the first places I visit to look for sounds by category or genre. I started coming here to see if I could find libraries that I knew I had heard, but forgot WHERE I had heard them.
And in the process discovered libraries I never would have found otherwise. Great work! Keep it up!
We're always looking for new sounds to mangle, so when A Sound Effect had a holiday sale, I tried them out.
The purchase experience is really smooth and quick, and delivery is almost instant.
I'll definitely come back to them again in the future!
A Sound Effect is a wonderful resource for indie sound effects libraries. On top of that, it has some of the finest sound design, film and game audio interviews!
I often need very specific types of sounds so I've become a big supporter of independent recorders.
Until now I've always had to go to their individual websites. Now I can find them all in one place.
And, Asbjoern is great to work with!
A Sound Effect is a well curated boutique sound effects shop and a great place to find industry interviews and learning resources.
