We had a full day of all-access recording at a local junkyard. With 5 mic arrays set up, we crushed, tossed and threw rocks and stuff at a few dozen cars.
The result was a collection of complex, crunchy and 100% authentic vehicle crashes and impacts that have use far beyond their original context. The stars of the show are the high impact metal, glass and plastic debris, and the easter eggs are the forklift revs, small rock impacts, and genuine junkyard ambiences included in the pack.
Every drop and crush is delivered with carefully time aligned and mastered mic arrays both split out and mastered together.
In addition to the mic splits and mastered recordings, we’ve also generated dozens of deigned wrecks, impacts, debris fields and rock scatters with sound particles. All presented with perfect UCS metadata and ready to drop straight in to your next disaster.

Using a multi-mic configuration (comprising the Sennheiser MKH50 and Røde NTG-3) our Audio Craftsmen captured a sword, hammer, spear and spear handle, warhammer beak, hammer and spearhead, hand AKA Dane axe, and battle axe make contact with chainmail and a Norman steel helm. Movement performed whilst wearing a chainmail shirt, sundry chainmail jingling, general handling of the steel helm and dropping the helm are also included in this library.
These meticulously edited sounds are ideal for Film, TV, game and documentary projects featuring plate armour, helmets and chainmail – as well as more abstract applications such as placing an artillery turret in an army-building game. This library contains 177 audio files that bring wreck and destruction to life through multiple microphone perspectives on each sound. The sounds were created using a sledgehammer and crowbar while destroying a microwave, captured in mono on both the Sennheiser MKH8050 and the MKH60, and in stereo with the Sennheiser MKH8050 and MKH30, and the Shure SM57. Epic Impacts Vol. 1 contains a huge arsenal of powerful and evocative impact sounds, split into different categories, ideal for Sound Designers and Composers looking for bold and unique effects to bring their projects to life.
To create this epic library, our Audio Craftsmen recorded sounds from instruments such as the guitar, piano, violin, zither and waterphone. We also recorded sounds of objects falling and hitting each other. We then layered analogue synths and manipulated the recordings to create unique sound effects. All the sounds were recorded in 24Bit 96KHz, allowing for additional sonic manipulation.

Junkyard Car Smashed. Windows, doors, lights dash, great tearing of safety glass. Maybe should have ended up in gore, sweet and gross. Good glass shatter explosion.
I purchased a car in a junkyard and we went to town smashing it up. There are metal hits and glass hits as well. There are some great safety glass explosions as well as glass debris flying around inside the car. I smashed a bunch of the engine with a sledge hammer as well as dragging metal over engine parts. One of the best sounds is grinding and tearing the windshield. As safety glass is often covered with a thin film of plastic, it made the best sharp crackly flesh peeling sound ever. Perfect for adding destruction details.

The approach for this pack was to create sounds in the anime style, I loved that genre and IÂ wanted to see how this type of sounds are created. In this pack there are: Punches, slaps, energy, hits, spells, destruction SFX, hitmarks, explosions SFX, impacts, sword attacks, whirlwinds, whooshes, unarmed combat SFX.
Although they are anime sounds, they can be used in different styles of video games or other media projects.

All this sounds were originally recorded with a Zoom H6 (cardiod microphone), and were processed with the Logic Pro X sampler, Omnisphere and using plugins like PitchMonster. In this case, the recorded sound have been heavily changed, because anime sounds are not usually “realistic”.
Some considerations
1. Keep in mind this sounds can be used in a variety of situations, I put a name to the SFX but this doesn’t mean it can’t be used in other contexts.
