Foley sound effects collections featuring everyday objects, movement and common, useful sounds
There are a lot of door sound libraries but I was missing the key sounds with variations on a project two years ago. After that, I started specifically recording key and lock sounds whenever I heared an interesting door or lid. I tried to capture the four most common performances (put the key in, remove the key, open the lock and close the lock) each at different speed (slow, medium, fast). This is a selection from these recordings. Some are captured in 192kHz with Earthworks QTC 50 to capture high frequencies, waiting to be pitched down several octaves and still remaining crispy.
There are little locks from piggy banks and caskets, wooden cabinets, metal lockers, appartment doors with plastic keys, locks on regular homes and much more.
In addition I added a few key drops on different surfaces (mats, parquet flooring, tiles, concrete…) and jingles.

Fiat 126 is a tiny car designed in the early 1970s to replace the classic Fiat 500. It was the most popular car in Poland from the late 1970s until the late 1990s. The idiosyncratic sound of its two cylinder, 0.65 Litre engine became an icon of the Polish everyday life. Fiat 126 was also common in Italy and Cuba.
This library contains all basic sounds this car can make, like driving at various speeds on tarmac and dirt roads, pass-bys and parking. Then there’s foley sounds of all the switches, opening doors etc. Don’t miss the particularly rich sound of the cold start of the aged engine.
The car we recorded was made in 1999. All its sounds are relevant for cars produced between 1994 and 2000. Earlier versions did not have the electronic starter and they wouldn’t beep when the choke was open. Cars made until about 1985 had a different dashboard so some of their switches would sound different (compare pictures for reference). The engine (and its sound) however was the same from the early 1970s until the end of production in 2000.
109 stereo files, 18 mono files, all UCS compliant.

A massive 496 Audio Files of detailed and balanced recordings of handwriting performances. Scribbles, erasing, check marks, blackouts, colouring, circles and crosshatches for each writing tool are in this complete Foley library.
You get mechanical pen and pencil clicks, cap pop-offs and snap-ons, squeaky pens and thick markers, crayons, ball point pens, felt pens, erasers, highlighters and sharpies.
Capturing the detail of the subtle sound with zero background noise is an art in itself! For these recordings, we found that the best results were achieved using an LCR configuration. A tightly positioned Rode NTG3 shotgun mic for the centre was used, along with a pair of slightly pulled back Sennheiser MKH 8040s to provide a gentle stereo image. The environment we used was our “dead room”, completely silent and reverb-free for this type of recording (this neat little room approaches a mini anechoic chamber) Reliably transparent and highly recommended, a Sound Devices Mix-Pre-6 was used to capture the final recordings.
A collection of intimate Foley sounds of cricket equipment recorded in a studio.
Ball, bat, wicket, stumps, hand and glove.
See list for all sounds included.
Gravity volume 2 is the second installment in the Gravity series and consists of impact and drag effects for 9 different materials. Again we set aim to record realistic sounds, minimally compressed and useful as base for physics simulation or foley.
You’ll find some weird sounds and textures in here suitable for many other uses as well. How about squealing styrofoam drags, a 10 meter PVC pipe, or walnuts suitable for skull and bone simulation!
All sounds have been edited to single takes per file, grouped per material in their own folders. In addition to a basic description in their filenames, each individual file has more elaborate META tags included. This gives you quick access to the sounds you need without losing that creative flow.
For scrapes and drags, we recorded long and medium takes which can be used for the construction of loops.

There are many great independent sound effect libraries available these days. The main problem with having so many, is keeping track of them!
A Sound Effect is a great hub, and is one of the first places I visit to look for sounds by category or genre. I started coming here to see if I could find libraries that I knew I had heard, but forgot WHERE I had heard them.
And in the process discovered libraries I never would have found otherwise. Great work! Keep it up!
We're always looking for new sounds to mangle, so when A Sound Effect had a holiday sale, I tried them out.

I often need very specific types of sounds so I've become a big supporter of independent recorders.
Until now I've always had to go to their individual websites. Now I can find them all in one place.
And, Asbjoern is great to work with!
A Sound Effect is a well curated boutique sound effects shop and a great place to find industry interviews and learning resources.
