Foley sound effects collections featuring everyday objects, movement and common, useful sounds
Discover the obscure sounds of 24 film cameras designed between the 1930s and 1970s. Carefully organised into 159 files, the 20th Century Cameras library offers over 3900+ sounds recorded at pristine 24bit/96kHz, thus allowing you to not only use the mechanical sounds of the cameras for their intended purpose, but also for sound design.
In order to help you navigate through the plethora of sounds available, rich SoundMiner metadata has been carefully crafted in order to describe the sounds as simply as possible, using multiple keywords and terms, where needed.
The library contains mostly mechanical sounds, such as the sound of shutter release at different shutter speeds, knobs, latches, wheels, and more, in addition to some Foley sounds as well. Due to the age of the cameras, most of the shutter release sounds have slight variations between them, even at the same shutter speed.
The library also comes with a free eBook which can be viewed and downloaded here.
In addition to the SoundMiner metadata sheet down below, the eBook provides information as to how older cameras work, and more details as to how each of the cameras recorded for the library work. The book goes into a fair bit of detail as to what sounds each camera offers, without getting too technical.
If you would like to hear more, here is a slightly extended version of the video preview:

Finding the right door sound can be a pain, thus Abandoned Doors was recorded with that need in mind.
All the 1400+ sounds were recorded in abandoned mansions and houses with unique sonic characteristics, in stereo, usually from two perspectives (inside the room and in the hallway), allowing you a great deal of choice and offering sonic diversity.
Additionally, splitting the stereo tracks into mono will give you two more slightly different perspectives on each sound.
The Abandoned Doors library offers a multitude of door recordings, ranging from heavy wooden doors found in turn of the century mansions to cheap old doors in an abandoned warehouse, being opened, closed, slammed, knocked on, kicked, banged on, and even hit with a bat.
Whilst most door libraries simply name files ‘door open 01’, etc, Abandoned Doors has been carefully tagged with rich SoundMiner metadata and multiple keywords, giving you a clearer image of what a file contains just by reading the title. For more information on what kinds of sounds are present in the library, feel free to consult the metadata file down below.
Also, if you’d like to know more about how I recorded this library, read my blog post here.
Buy Abandoned Doors today and augment your sonic toolbox with over 1400+ door related sound effects, recorded at 24bit/96kHz in unique and inaccessible locations.
Comprised of three action packed libraries, this bundle includes HERO, BROKEN, and MELEE. Save by bundling all three in a single library.
This collection started as a mic test and turned into a library. What is unique about the collection is that the phone was taken apart so you get each individual element as clean as possible. It was recorded with shotgun mics, a TLM 103 to see how it sounded with something other than dialogue, and a Cold Gold contact mic at 96 khz, which was the biggest surprise as it sounds like a high definition retro mic when placed on the back of the phone's rotary dial. Skip the antique hunt and listen to these vintage sounds.
Ancient Armour and Weapons is the result of months of recording, editing and arranging historic prop foley and combat sounds. Recorded at a dedicated foley stage in London, UK with a wealth of experience in crafting sound for feature film, TV and video games.
The library has been designed to give sound editors and media creators some of the core audio elements needed to create epic sword fights, brutal melee conflicts and more; whilst proving multiple content options for editors to use either compiled sounds or original recordings from a choice of microphones. In addition to the search capabilities of the sound selection, care has been taken to arrange the recordings into a sequenced order. Multiple versions of each sound have been recorded in line so this content can be combined and layered easily.
Background foley for mass groups has been provided with a selection of layers. These tracks can be panned to create 2.0, 5.1, 7.1 and up to 7.1.4 mixes.
Content Groups Included:
Blood, gore, swords, metal shields, wood shields, spear, axe, arrows, historic armour impacts, whoosh, body fall wearing period dress, mass group foley, prop impacts, metal scrapes and more.
*This library does not contain voices or music*
The doors are very kind, but don’t make them angry. They could lose their temper resulting in a very noisy bang.
This library enriches the sfx world with new door and gate objects, both source and designed, with variety of expressive actions and perspectives. The everyday usual noises along with fantasy stimulating sounds – e.g. deep “dungeon” metal door, high pitch squeaking wire-netting gate, heavy church gate and so on. To make the slams and smashes even more hard, heavy and dirty, wildly designed “Angry” versions have been added.
Library highlight:
• 18 door and gate objects, recorded in old, gloomy houses and a church
• 6.29 GB, 645 files, several takes for each action
• “Close-Up”, “Near”, “Middle” and “Behind” perspectives in selected cases, plus mix of them
• 192khz/24 bit including ultrasonic information- the greatest resolution for next design processes
• Sound Devices MixPre6, Sanken CO100K, Sennheiser MKH30, DPA 4007, DPA 4060, Schertler Dyn Uni P48
• Photo reference for each object
While straying through several antiques shops and flea markets I unveiled a lot of very interesting and organic sounds with character. Sounds that only prop up with plenty years of service can do.
So this library is a versatile and composite collection of all those squeaky, creaky, rusty sounds with a lot of personality.
Here you will find all the little vintage sonic gems.

British Stately Home is a collaboration between two award-winning sound designers, Stefan Henrix (Chernobyl, Batman Begins) and Steve Fanagan (Room, Frank). It is a collection of 256 files recorded at 24bit/96kHz, totalling 18.6GB. The recordings are a mixture of mono, stereo, LCR and 5.0 files. In some cases there are multiple perspectives on the same recording (close, mid and wide). There are also Impulse Responses from several of the building's more characterfully reverberant rooms, which have been recorded from different perspectives and edited for use with Altiverb.
Sounds for this library were recorded over two days in a beautifully maintained rural British Stately Home; a late-18th-century neo-classical mansion. We set out to record any and all aspects of the building and its surroundings. The collection includes doors, windows, fireplaces, clocks, drips, keys and various unusual, period specific props we came across.
The interior of the building was one of the quietest places either of us have ever recorded and the Roomtones we've captured here are some of the most still and neutral recordings we've both made.
All of the sounds are authentic and the spaces we recorded in are reverberant, have their own ambience, and have coloured each of the recordings with the natural acoustic of this magnificent building.
We often set-up with multiple mics to capture different perspectives of the same recordings and these will hopefully offer the user interesting options as they work with these sounds.
At times we have left our own movements at the beginning and end of recordings, as they captured something of the building's unique acoustic and have proven useful to both of us in our own film work with this library. This is a diverse and versatile library and the recordings take well to pitch and time shifting, and to other plugin manipulation.
Equipment Used: Sanken CMS-7S, DPA4060, Sennheiser MKH60, Rode NT4, Sound Devices 702T, Sound Devices USB Pre-2, Roland R26

With A Sound Effect, Asbjoern has created a web site where our international community can browse, learn, and share the vast fruits of our labors. Together we are accelerating the very real potential power of sound design as a recognized art form.
A Sound Effect is an excellent resource for us to keep our animated films sounding unique and exciting.
A Sound Effect is a great asset to have discovered.
We found the site very easy to navigate, purchasing and downloads were effortless and the effects themselves are awesome! Asbjoern has done us all a great service.
We’ll definitely be back!
There are many great independent sound effect libraries available these days. The main problem with having so many, is keeping track of them!
A Sound Effect is a great hub, and is one of the first places I visit to look for sounds by category or genre. I started coming here to see if I could find libraries that I knew I had heard, but forgot WHERE I had heard them.
And in the process discovered libraries I never would have found otherwise. Great work! Keep it up!
We're always looking for new sounds to mangle, so when A Sound Effect had a holiday sale, I tried them out.
The purchase experience is really smooth and quick, and delivery is almost instant.
I'll definitely come back to them again in the future!
A Sound Effect is a wonderful resource for indie sound effects libraries. On top of that, it has some of the finest sound design, film and game audio interviews!
I often need very specific types of sounds so I've become a big supporter of independent recorders.
Until now I've always had to go to their individual websites. Now I can find them all in one place.
And, Asbjoern is great to work with!
A Sound Effect is a well curated boutique sound effects shop and a great place to find industry interviews and learning resources.
