Second episode of our journey to Moscow, Russia, but this time – during summer and autumn
We recorded the most interesting sonic atmospheres, such as wet and dry traffic, streets, singing birds, wind in the endless parks, fountains, construction work, yelling children, rain and thunder, suburban villages, crowds and many more.
To capture this sound palette I made another stealth recording kit, but now, using LDC (large diaphragm condenser) microphones. This has improved the sound quality and made the recordings even more detailed, to continue creating the largest sound library series about Russia.
KEY POINTS:
This library is a collection of South African Emergency Service sirens. It’s a collection of siren sounds from various distances and for various vehicles. There are mono and stereo versions, as well as processed options. South African Emergency Services use the same 3 sounds whether its an ambulance, police vehicle or fire truck. All tracks recorded with the Zoom H5 XY stereo pair as well as a Sennheiser MKH60.
Harbours Of Norway sound library features 25 files with ambients recorded in Myre, Sto and Nyksund, very small towns with direct access to the sea. Most of the sound effects were recorded at night, but since it’s a polar day time of the year, it was very pleasurable to walk and look for convenient places to set up my gear. Everything was recorded with an ORTF setup built from two Sennheisers MKH 8040.
Inside this library, you’ll find a lot of seagulls, waves crushing on the rocks and plants, windy ambients from the cliff, industrial sound from port in Myre with ship unloading the cargo, walla with steam engine boats and additional sounds from the boat engine market, and air cooling aggregates from food containers.
Every file was recorded in 96kHz, edited (I removed any unintentional bumps, pops and unwanted sounds). I limited EQing to removing harsh frequencies, or enhancing a little bit the good sounding ones. At the end of the chain there is a small compression, for louder sounds.

‘Traffic Tones’ will help build flavorful air tones and atmospheres in order to support urban or suburban environments.
This sound library is divided into 2 main sections
1) Traffic Loops
2) Single Event Sounds
The first part of this library comprises a wide variety of long undisturbed traffic loops;
exempt from excessive dynamic fluctuations, and without any incongruous noises (such as birds).
These are non-disruptive atmospheres that you can easily layer up.
Ready to be inserted into your project, they will help you build the foundation of your own soundscape.
The second part of this library consists of ‘single event’ sounds.
They will bring character to your sound-bed and help soundify any story/visual cues.
You will find in this section well-classified eclectic sounds such as whistles, sirens, brake squeals,
but also more than 110 individual horns, and a massive collection of 300+ pass-by of all kinds…
The diversity of sounds delivered in this library reflects the large-scale recording process that took us 5 years to gather the right material, recorded throughout 30 cities in Europe, Asia, Africa, and America, from various perspectives in space and time, various weather conditions, various terrain type, and vehicle types.
***Most of the library were recorded in 192KHz, however, in the majority of the recordings, there was no reason to keep this sample rate. Hence we saved some space and converted it to 96KHz unless interesting spectral information was found in these high ranges, in this case, we kept them at 192 kHz.

In 1979, bells from more than 100 countries were brought together for a communist event which had the purpose to promote world peace.
Kids from most countries gathered for the occasion bringing along with them bells from each of their respective country.
A monument was built for this occasion which is still standing nowadays, situated in the suburb of Sofia.
This monument encompasses what is known to be the largest drum instrument in the world, as it contains hundreds of bells from all over the world.
We meticulously recorded each of those bells.
We were blessed to get clean close sounds of these bells with some variations, isolated takes but also sequence of ringing.
In this library. you’ll find a selection of 30 of these countries which have bells that have “church-like” sonic characteristics.

A Sound Effect is an excellent resource for us to keep our animated films sounding unique and exciting.
A Sound Effect is a great asset to have discovered.
We found the site very easy to navigate, purchasing and downloads were effortless and the effects themselves are awesome! Asbjoern has done us all a great service.
We’ll definitely be back!
There are many great independent sound effect libraries available these days. The main problem with having so many, is keeping track of them!
A Sound Effect is a great hub, and is one of the first places I visit to look for sounds by category or genre. I started coming here to see if I could find libraries that I knew I had heard, but forgot WHERE I had heard them.
And in the process discovered libraries I never would have found otherwise. Great work! Keep it up!
We're always looking for new sounds to mangle, so when A Sound Effect had a holiday sale, I tried them out.
The purchase experience is really smooth and quick, and delivery is almost instant.
I'll definitely come back to them again in the future!
A Sound Effect is a wonderful resource for indie sound effects libraries. On top of that, it has some of the finest sound design, film and game audio interviews!
I often need very specific types of sounds so I've become a big supporter of independent recorders.
Until now I've always had to go to their individual websites. Now I can find them all in one place.
And, Asbjoern is great to work with!
A Sound Effect is a well curated boutique sound effects shop and a great place to find industry interviews and learning resources.
