  • Environments & Ambiences Winds of Dovrefjell Play Track 32+ sounds included, 71 mins total $42

Many years of trekking in the Dovre mountains (Dovrefjell) at heights from 900 to 1200 masl. and temperatures reaching down to -20°C, has led to many unique recordings.

My main goal when on Dovrefjell was to capture the “sound” of the harsh climate that dominates up there. Subsequently it was hard to avoid the ever restless wind. But it can be quite tricky to capture the sound of wind (or rather the sound of wind on or through objects) and there are only some “sweet spots”, in this vast high altitude climate scattered with rocks and tiny trees, that will generate a good recording.

These recordings were done crouching behind rocks, on cliff sides, on top of summits, behind weathered shelters, old mountain farms and bushes. Partially freezing my hands of, operating recording equipment.

  • Destruction & Impact Sounds frostbite Play Track 843 sounds included, 49+ mins total $14

In the winter of 2013-2014, both the Northeast and the Northwest were slammed with snow, ice, wind, and blizzards. The SkewSound team braved the frigid cold and recorded what we could: footsteps, compression, breaking ice, body falls, and much more.

Our content was obtained during storms and their aftermath in Seattle, WA, Portland, OR, and Salem, MA. The frostbite SFX library contains some great impact sweeteners and sounds unique to winter temperatures. You won’t be disappointed!

  • Wind Elements – Interior is 75 minutes/2.43 Gb of howling, blasting and fluttering wind, recorded from inside various buildings. 90 separate files – recorded in 24bit/96kHz using Sennheiser MKH & Primo EM172 microphones, and mastered in X/Y stereo. All files are UCS-compliant.

This collection is the bigger, badder sequel to bestseller Howling Winds – Interior, with more of everything: fresh recordings, more types of wind, more locations and just more variation.

Everything from violent blasting and howling, to gentle, caressing wind. Some with sleet and rain, cracking and creaking of window frames and roof materials, others with faint sound of rustling leaves or urban buzz.

You get both long ambiances from various locations, as well as plenty of short files to sweeten up your mix.
Some sounds have been eq’ed aggressively to enhance the feeling of being indoors, but very little processing has been applied otherwise. You’ll hear a bit of hiss here and there; I left it in because I felt noise reduction would take away too much character in those specific cases.

    You get:

    • Indoor wind sounds
    • Howling, blasting, fluttering – a bit of sleet & rain too
    • Lots of variations of each sound
    • Searchable file names
    • BWF Metadata embedded – with more included in CSV and ODS (OpenOffice) formats

  • Winter Sound Effects Winter Forest Ambience Play Track 24+ sounds included, 129 mins total From: $69

We present here an ambience sound library from the collection ‘Wonders of Nature’ that captures the magical essence of dormant snowy forests.

‘Winter forest’ is not just about silence, it unfolds the delicate flow of lone natural immensity. Over the span of 2 years we recorded the cold north wood forest of the Laurentian in Canada.

We captured chilly breezes, sparse birds, creaking barks, freezing rain, raven’s vocalizations, wolves, long cold silences. All of which resonate through these unique sceneries of quietude.

We took care to record different time of the day but also different settings as well as various weather conditions as wind, blizzard, snow, freezing rain, stillness.

The library is available in stereo, and surround.

  • ‘Ice Skating’ is a very comprehensive library of 1000 audio files from the realm of ice skating.

It encompasses a broad variety of sounds using different skating techniques and features many ice skating activities such as hockey games, figure skating, free skating and more.

Most of the recordings have been made in an outdoor setting to reduce reverberations.

Almost all of the sounds were recorded using a M/S technique with AKG C-414 and Rode Nt5, and Sound Devices mixPre.

This library presents unique focused sounds that have been edited meticulously making them easier to integrate in any audiovisual project or interactive program.

The rare distinctive quality of these recordings also allows them to be a base for
any sound experimentation through a creative process; and can be layered with other sounds or treated in order to produce interesting sound design.

A couple of Ambiences are also included in the library. These are ORTF stereo recordings of outdoors/indoors skating.

Like every other sound library from Articulated Sounds, the files are embedded with metadatas (Soundminer/iXML/XMP/BWAV/ID3).

  • Wild Animals Sound Effects Reindeer Play Track 2000+ sounds included, 53 mins total $49

This is it, the largest reindeer (AKA caribou in North America) sound library in the world! Recorded in Lapland, Finland, in winter 2020, we have here over 53 minutes of reindeer in three different, mostly quiet locations.

The first location is a snowy trail in the woods. I was snowshoeing and the reindeer were walking in a distance. Clicking hooves are the deal in these recordings!

The second location is a place in the middle of the woods where the reindeer are sleeping, eating and doing reindeer stuff. No people in sight, no barriers. Just me and THOUSANDS OF REINDEER, and they took me in as their leader, so I got every imaginable and as well unimaginable sound as they were not afraid.

The third location is a reindeer enclosure. Here I got the most isolated sounds. This location also includes a feeding shed, where I recorded reindeer eating and digging!

    INCLUDING:
    footsteps • walking • running • scuffs • grunts • burps • sniffs • snorts • other mouth sounds • antlers • urinating • attacking • eating • digging • bells • clicking hooves • collar rattle

Moscow, Russia in winter and spring time

Streets, covered with melting snow; people, hurrying with their business; street, cleaning from ice; whistling wet traffic; quiet and loud residential neighborhoods; children playing in the snow; windy parks; cold nights and, then, saving spring; water, dropping from the roofs; singing birds and babbling brooks.

How to convey these things without violating their nature?

One of the ways is a stealth binaural recording using miniature microphones DPA 4060. It gave the sense of naturalness and created a presence effect, that you wouldn’t find in any other library about Russia.

    KEY POINTS:

    • An excellent addition to your library for film, TV and multimedia – Moscow in winter and spring time
    • Stealth recording with DPA4060 mics gives the absolute naturalness and allows you to be where you can not operate with a traditional set of microphones
    • Sorted by seasons and location-type categories.
    • All files have extensive metadata included
