From winds rushing through empty streets to winds whistling and whipping across a marina, “Town Winds” offers a broad spectrum of wind ambiences in urban environments.

This library includes the sounds of wind blowing through flagpoles, strong wind gusts at a railway station, and wind whirling around a backyard. There are recordings of clattering masts, fluttering plastic, rattling fences, and much more.

Taken in very calm spaces, these recordings have minimal traffic bleed and are nearly bird free. Recorded with a Shoeps MK4/MK8 MS, paired with a Sound Devices 702 recorder.

Whether you’re designing a stormy scene in a city or a suburban environment, this is the library for you.

    Locations captured:

  • Environments & Ambiences Winds of Dovrefjell Play Track 32+ sounds included, 71 mins total $42

Many years of trekking in the Dovre mountains (Dovrefjell) at heights from 900 to 1200 masl. and temperatures reaching down to -20°C, has led to many unique recordings.

My main goal when on Dovrefjell was to capture the “sound” of the harsh climate that dominates up there. Subsequently it was hard to avoid the ever restless wind. But it can be quite tricky to capture the sound of wind (or rather the sound of wind on or through objects) and there are only some “sweet spots”, in this vast high altitude climate scattered with rocks and tiny trees, that will generate a good recording.

These recordings were done crouching behind rocks, on cliff sides, on top of summits, behind weathered shelters, old mountain farms and bushes. Partially freezing my hands of, operating recording equipment.

  • Weather Sound Effects Rain City Play Track 84 sounds included, 230 mins total $59

Rain City is a HQ sound effects library featuring 84 recordings captured on various indoor and outdoor locations, in peaceful urban environments.

You will find various types and intensities of rainfall, from subtle drizzle on tile rooftops and construction sites, to after-hours heavy rain on the city streets and downpours against car windows, Plexiglas rooftop panels, umbrellas and more.

  • Weather Sound Effects Wind In Trees Play Track 32 sounds included, 93 mins total $28

Here are ambient and specific recordings of rustling leaves, fluttering twigs and creaking trunks. Pine and Fir trees, Beechwood hedgerows and leafless Oak trees, along tall grass and reeds. All in all, a collection representative of the cultured landscape in Denmark, as well as much of northern Europe. I was lucky enough to record a storm during the last days of 2016, and those sounds are of course included here. No human voices or man-made sounds, but a few of the sounds have bird vocalizations in them. All files are UCS-compliant.

The focus is rather narrow, going for many nuances of the same flavor – rather than many flavors. If you need sounds of a storm or gale in northern European vegetation, then this should fit the bill. Note that there is audible buffeting in several files. I opted to leave it in there, as it might suit some purposes, and let me keep the most violent passages. You can try your luck with noise reduction, but since wind is mostly broadband noise anyway, it might not turn out well. YMMV.

A few sounds appear in both mono and stereo versions, where the stereo version are X/Y derived from the M/S source files and the mono versions are simply the Mid channel. I did this, because most people seem to prefer X/Y files for post-work, rather than M/S – but a down-mix of X/Y to mono would be inferior to using the original Mid-mic signal. All sounds were captured in Denmark between October and January.

    You get:
    • Wind through trees, bushes and tall grass
    • Close recordings and wider takes
    • X/Y Stereo and Mono sounds (decoded from M/S)
    • Searchable file names
    • Metadata included in CSV and ODS (OpenOffice) formats
  • Low-price. High-quality. Essential.

A collection of 50 essential thunder sound effects, ranging from very close to very distant, with and without rain, and more!

The sounds are fully compatible with the Universal Category System (UCS) – a public domain initiative establishing a standardized category list for the classification of sound effects.

Note: All of these sounds (and more!) are included in the 96 General Library.

  • Howling Winds – Interior is 1.4 GB of high-velocity air molecules in 42 separate files – recorded in 24bit/96kHz stereo – from an interior perspective. All files are UCS-compliant.

It is a collection of highly expressive, sometimes vocal, sometimes violent gusts of wind, squalls of rain and sleet – as heard from within the safety of a home.

    KEY FEATURES

    • Howling, moaning, whistling wind sounds

Need More Winds? Listen to High Desert Winds 2!
  • Wind Elements – Interior is 75 minutes/2.43 Gb of howling, blasting and fluttering wind, recorded from inside various buildings. 90 separate files – recorded in 24bit/96kHz using Sennheiser MKH & Primo EM172 microphones, and mastered in X/Y stereo. All files are UCS-compliant.

This collection is the bigger, badder sequel to bestseller Howling Winds – Interior, with more of everything: fresh recordings, more types of wind, more locations and just more variation.

Everything from violent blasting and howling, to gentle, caressing wind. Some with sleet and rain, cracking and creaking of window frames and roof materials, others with faint sound of rustling leaves or urban buzz.

You get both long ambiances from various locations, as well as plenty of short files to sweeten up your mix.
Some sounds have been eq’ed aggressively to enhance the feeling of being indoors, but very little processing has been applied otherwise. You’ll hear a bit of hiss here and there; I left it in because I felt noise reduction would take away too much character in those specific cases.

    You get:

    • Indoor wind sounds
    • Howling, blasting, fluttering – a bit of sleet & rain too
    • Lots of variations of each sound
    • Searchable file names
    • BWF Metadata embedded – with more included in CSV and ODS (OpenOffice) formats

  • Environments & Ambiences Abandoned Bomb Shelters Play Track 71 sounds included, 165+ mins total $39

Abandoned Shelters – The Danish Bunker Coast features mysterious and eerie sounds recorded in and around abandoned bunkers along the Danish West Coast.

The gathered ambiences form a comprehensive resource of steady winds, heavy gusts, rustling undergrowths as well as single waves and strong surfs that constantly stream and break through these inhospitable areas with concrete remains all around.

A big part of the library was recorded inside the bunkers where the strong nature elements of wind and water are transformed into heavily comb filtered textures and dark atmospheres.

  • Nature & Countryside Ambiences African Jungle Play Track 80+ sounds included, 460 mins total From: $190

African Jungle is a huge collection of unique ambiences recorded in Central Africa’s Congo Basin rainforests. To my knowledge, these are the first surround field recordings made in this area. Last year I spent a whole month off the grid, listening to and recording a variety of habitats at all times of day and night, at the height of the rainy season when birds are most vocal. It took me many days of travel to get to these places, from using trains, boats, cars and planes to hiking on foot in the jungle.

  • “Summer in the fields – Crickets and cicadas” is the right Library if you are trying to create a natural sound scenario during the summer.

The library contains over 8.4 GB which exceeds 1.43 hours and a total of 30 files of high-quality material in discrete 5.0 surround format.

Atmospheres ready to be combined with other elements to create the right sound for the image you are working on.

The Library was built in Europe – Italy, in the Lazio countryside. Between the end of May and the beginning of September and the sultry heat is audible in the recordings.

The squealing of cicadas is a fundamental sound element to design the sound of a warm and dry outdoor environment.

At night the crickets are beautiful.
Each place has its crickets that emit sounds at different rates and frequencies.
    Agitated, calm, psychedelic, relaxing …
Crickets are a fundamental element to create an emotional night scene.

Other animals are obviously present in the recordings; morning birds, owls, crows, geese, insects and bees, chickens, etc.

The registered natural fields are near lakes, rivers, chicken coops/farms, country houses, woods and cultivated fields.

The large part of the files have not human elements like traffic or agricular sounds, other ones have some distant traffic and are pretty for contemporary countryside.

  • Environments & Ambiences Forest Ambience One Play Track 21 sounds included, 90+ mins total $35

‘Forest Ambience One’ is the first library in my nature ambience series where I intend to record the vast and unique forests of Finland and their changing sound between the four seasons.

This library consists of 21 unique pine and birch forest ambiences recorded in Northern Finland during summer. Most of the ambiences have occasional birds in them but I was lucky to capture the sound of the forests without the birds too.

Due to the varying weather during the summer I also decided to record some of the locations when it was raining lightly and also when the rain had passed to get that after rain dribble.

The average length of each ambience is between 3-5 minutes so you can easily create your own ambience loops for e.g. video games.

Forest Ambience One is recorded with Sound Devices 702 and a stereo pair of Sennheiser 8040’s in ORTF – and you get the sounds in two formats: 96 kHz, 24 bit and in 44.1 KHz, 16 bit, for more convenient ways of utilizing the sounds in games and other media.
