WHAT’S INSIDE
A VALUED POSTPRODUCTION UTILITY
These faintest of all ambiences are remarkably useful in audio production – from replacing digital silence, restoring frequency lost in processed files, to naturalizing cultural ambiences and increasing the dynamic range of your production, applying QUIETUDES will soon become a key, everyday part of your routine. The noblest application of QUIETUDES will be the raising of your audience’s awareness of the eloquence of silence.

As used here, WETLANDS include places with standing fresh water such as swamps, marshes, ponds, and lakes. In fact, it’s the water itself that creates these very special acoustic biospheres – as a propagator of sounds, causing them to travel further and louder due to surface reflections and temperature layers.
RICH WILDLIFE SYMPHONIES
WETLANDS encloses recordings of wildlife and scenery at different day times and intensities. Are you looking for recordings of birds playing and hurrying across the water? Late evening frog concerts? Rainfall lapping on the lake? The slap of a beaver tail? Let these examples give you a fair idea of what this beautiful collection has on its great content list.
This Library is also part of The Complete Quiet Planet Bundle.

The incoming waves collide with large rock formations, creating great wave impacts and rushing water through small channels and hollow rocks. A variety of mic placements at various distances from the ocean were used, from directly over the water to larger distances, recording ambience behind massive rock walls and inside natural beach caves. In addition, a hydrophone captured underwater currents from waves splashing into small tide pools on the rocks.
Worldwide Rivers & Waterfalls is a thorough collection of 99 sound recordings made around the world. It comprises ‘loopeable’ sounds of a wide variety of water streams from tiny small to broad wide rivers.
They were recorded in mountains, countryside, on bridges, under bridges, in caves, in tunnel, underwater (hydrophones), and throughout various geological features, as narrow canyon, mighty rivers, shallow streams running on Pebbles, Icy cold flow from melted snow, or hot boiling streams from active geothermal terrains.
Most of the captures are declined with various perspectives and distances from the sound source, allowing better integration in movie scenes or games. The library was recorded in these countries: Spain, Switzerland, Iceland, Georgia, France, Canada, Thailand, Ecuador, and Slovakia.
– Diverse Geological Features: boiling hot spring, icy cold stream, narrow canyon, wide, shallow,…
– Various Distances & Perspectives
– Highly focused and meticulously edited sounds
– Ready to use Loop
This collection includes small to big waves on surfaces such as cliffs, beaches, rocky coasts, tetrapods.
Captured from close, middle, and distant perspectives at the Bousou peninsula, Chiba, Japan.
New York Gorges and Waterfalls has the hidden sounds of waterfalls from the secluded gorges of New York State. The gorge walls shoot upward 150 meters, creating beautiful stone sanctuaries of sound. Rushing water cuts deep through smooth shale outcrops, with the lack of pebbles giving these falls a uniquely polished and frictionless character. In this collection, you’ll receive sounds ranging from murmuring 1-meter cascades to thunderous 65-meter behemoths. If you need waterfalls distinct to the Appalachians, listen to New York Gorges and Waterfalls.

‘Geese‘ contains a massive array of wild bird sound effects recorded from various canals, rivers, reservoirs and lakes. We are the first in the world to release a nature library with a specific, extensive collection of Goose sounds, which includes flapping wings, fighting, footsteps, paddling, swimming and jumping into water, eating various types of foods, a wide array of vocalisations including groups(gaggles), pairs, individuals and much, much more.
Our Audio Craftsmen meticulously planned our field recording sessions considering time of day, weather conditions and different locations aiming to capture the full range of behaviour these animals display on a daily basis. We visited a variety of spots and spent time learning the behaviours of Geese, allowing us to capture their reactions as both individuals and groups of varying size. We recorded sounds during a variety of scenarios including eating food, fighting each other, and encountering ducks/other water birds. The huge difference in personalities between these birds allowed us to capture distinct vocalisations made while being fed, acting calm, aggressive or being threatened by rivals to their territory (even making sounds that could be mistaken for a dog, chicken or dinosaur!).
We also recorded sounds from different perspectives which include tunnels (both inside and from a far), a gaggle of Geese approaching from a distance, fighting, flying and swimming by as well as close up sounds of eating, pecking and more.
Moreover, all the sounds provided are dry in 192kHz 24Bit. Allowing for uses varying from nature documentaries through to excellent source sounds for creature and vocal design.

71 quad surround ambiences of virgin nature around lakes and brooks bring you to the hot summer at the national park in Karelia, North-Western Russia. Carrying you away into the land of Mother Nature, untouched with technogenic and anthropogenic sounds. Busy morning of birds and insect in a marsh, streams in forests and a beaver’s dam, a rapid roaring river in a canyon. Mystically whispering and aggressively chattering winds through reed. A swallow feeding their nestlings in front of the microphone. Still evening over lakes with echoing voices of a Hobby falcon, Arctic Loon calls and splashy takeoff runs. Otherworldly silent night with Longhorn beetle larvae creaking communications in the trees at the shore, a bat at 30 kHz and a large beetle cruising around the mic like a helicopter with rumble down to infrasound.
10 % of the library’s revenue goes to nature preserves and animal shelters.

The flushes were recorded in several varieties; the toilet lid up, the toilet lid down, the recorder close to the toilet, the recorder distant from the toilet, and even some of the refilling cycles as well as the dreaded sound when a toilet won’t flush.
Of all the flushes recorded, 55 are from European toilets, 29 from American toilets, 14 from urinals, 7 from a train, and 6 from a plane, for a total of 111 unique flushing sounds with over 50 minutes of refilling cycles.

Underwater recordings of the sea recorded with one or two hydrophones.
Geophony and anthrophony underwater sounds: sounds of the waves, shallows, deep sea, port, harbour, diving, ship, sea traffic and other. Underwater ambiences and textures.
Note that the background crackling of the sea is present in the majority of the recordings.
All recordings are recorded with Aquarian audio H2-a XLR hydrophones and Sound Devices field mixer (preamps are Lundahl input transformers for warmth of the sound). Special suspension for the hydrophones is used to avoid (handling) rumble. For “stereo” recordings hydrophones were spaced 1m apart to get some time difference (or Depth of field). There is a mono recordings recorded with one hydrophone too.
Max peak level is around -5dBFS. No compressors or dynamic tools were used in editing.
Includes the sound of drips on:
Ocean Waves Beach and Water consists of a large dynamic range of a variety of ocean locations, and water sounds. From roaring white water surf, violent crashing waves on sand and rock, to calm lapping, of far and near perspectives.
I’ve included different types of outdoor fountains, large and small, single seagulls and groups of seagulls. A good portion of the Beach Ambiences have good, useable beach type walla. Family get togethers, children playing, and casual volleyball playing. All these tracks have good movement within them so that the listener doesn’t get bored with static sounds. There are plenty of tracks with and without any sort of voices or walla in the background.
There are “Dins” included for those settings where you may need to fill in the background with sound that doesn’t get in the way, and doesn’t draw attention to itself.
These sounds were recorded over the period of 10 years in multiple countries. All have been mastered in Pro Tools, EQ’d, with light limiting and compression to pop out the finer details, otherwise hidden by masking frequencies, but are otherwise in their raw form.
All tracks have full metadata created in Soundminer, and there is an attached Track List for quick reference.
Recordings of the ice recorded in: MS stereo, with hydrophones and with contact mics.
Stereo recordings of the ice in many mic positions; Underwater recordings of the ice; Ice recorded with contact mics placed on the ice surface; Check the sound list for info.
Here you can find: kick, blast, cracks and other “strange” sounds of the ice. Great material for sound design, Foley etc. Recordings are organized in folders by type of the sound. Metadata tagged with description of equipment used included.
Structure borne sound (contact mics) and hydrophone recordings are captured in two channels (at the same time-in sync). Ch. left is closer to the object and Ch. right is away from the object. You can experiment with the levels of two channels to get the depth of field. (Just a few hydrophone recordings are recorded in mono/single hydrophone)
Conventional stereo recordings are recorded in MS with Sennheiser MKH 60/40/30 and Sound Devices 744T.
Contact mics are JRFs and hydrophones are Aquarian audio H2a-XLR routed via Sound Devices Mix Pre (Lundahl input transformers) to get warmer sound.

With A Sound Effect, Asbjoern has created a web site where our international community can browse, learn, and share the vast fruits of our labors. Together we are accelerating the very real potential power of sound design as a recognized art form.
A Sound Effect is an excellent resource for us to keep our animated films sounding unique and exciting.
A Sound Effect is a great asset to have discovered.
We found the site very easy to navigate, purchasing and downloads were effortless and the effects themselves are awesome! Asbjoern has done us all a great service.
We’ll definitely be back!
There are many great independent sound effect libraries available these days. The main problem with having so many, is keeping track of them!
A Sound Effect is a great hub, and is one of the first places I visit to look for sounds by category or genre. I started coming here to see if I could find libraries that I knew I had heard, but forgot WHERE I had heard them.
And in the process discovered libraries I never would have found otherwise. Great work! Keep it up!
We're always looking for new sounds to mangle, so when A Sound Effect had a holiday sale, I tried them out.
The purchase experience is really smooth and quick, and delivery is almost instant.
I'll definitely come back to them again in the future!
A Sound Effect is a wonderful resource for indie sound effects libraries. On top of that, it has some of the finest sound design, film and game audio interviews!
I often need very specific types of sounds so I've become a big supporter of independent recorders.
Until now I've always had to go to their individual websites. Now I can find them all in one place.
And, Asbjoern is great to work with!
A Sound Effect is a well curated boutique sound effects shop and a great place to find industry interviews and learning resources.
