An ice hockey game is an exciting, dynamic and powerful sonic experience. From the thunderous crack of a puck hitting the boards at full speed to the gentle scrape of a stick on the ice, this library contains a complete range of the game’s on ice sounds, all captured with natural reverb in an indoor arena.
Included are a range of performances of skate, stick, puck, and whistle sounds, as well as rink door opens and closes, and various board, glass, and ice impacts.
The skate sounds include starts, stops, turns, and pass bys, as well as single steps and scrapes for detailed editing and layering. Stick sounds include different kinds of shots, passes, drops and scrapes, and impacts with other sticks, the boards, and the ice. Puck sounds include impacts with the ice, boards, skates, the goal metal and net, and even goalie pads. Rink sounds include the opening and closing of doors, impacts with the boards and glass, and a goal horn. Two different types of whistles were recorded, with varying durations.
Each sound effect performance was recorded from multiple perspectives – a stereo ORTF pair of Lewitt LCT 540s microphones, a closer wide XY from an Audio Technica BP4025, and a close mono Schoeps CMC6/MK41 – either stationary or following the action on a boom, depending on the type of sound. The ratio of direct to reverberant sound differs between these perspectives, offering a variety of options when editing to picture.
Also included are quad-channel room tones from two different ice rinks, and a special onboard recording of a puck, made by taping a Sony PCM-M10 to a puck and sliding it across the surface of the ice.
The actions were performed at a range of speeds and energy levels, with multiple takes for variety. Please refer to the sound list pdf below for details. Captured at a sampling rate of 96kHz, these recordings contain detailed information above 20kHz, expanding the possibilities for manipulation when slowing and pitching them down.
Introducing our “Bouncing Balls” sound effects library. Dive into an assortment of bouncing balls bouncing across various surfaces both indoors and outdoors.
Our library features an eclectic mix, including the soft thud of a toddler’s play ball to the distinct bounce of a yoga ball. Whether you’re scoring sound for an energetic sports scene or looking for that whimsical touch to enhance your project. Ball types included: soccer ball, football, yoga ball, beach ball, tennis ball, kids ball.
Ambiences and sound effects from some of the most popular sports around, including baseball, basketball, tennis, skiing, snowboarding, table tennis, bowling, golf and hockey. This 159-sound collection features a selection of real sports game ambiances and a large variety of individual sounds such as ball bounces, racquet hits, putts, boxing bells and even referee whistles!
Australian Rules Football or AFL is one of the most popular sports in Australia – and the crowds are incredibly enthusiastic. This library of football sports crowds was recorded at a major stadium from various perspectives – from being a part of the mob where you can hear individual voices, all the way to top level where the cheers become a massive roar of thousands of voices.
With over an hour of content, this should have all the moments and perspectives that you need. There’s elated cheers, boos, gasps, chants and everything in between. There’s even some swearing – but don’t worry, that’s in a clearly marked folder and tagged in the metadata so that you can filter those files out if you need it to be family friendly. Plus for when you need to hit the ground running, there’s a 6 minute loop-able ambience punctuated with both highs and lows.
To top it all off there’s some recordings of crowd ambiences around the venue, including hallways, turnstiles and even outside the stadium. Lastly there’s my personal favourite: several recordings of the iconic AFL siren.
This is a great package filled with authentic Australian accents audible in the close up recordings – but in the middle and far perspectives all those voices becomes a massive wash that will blend nicely with other crowd libraries from any other sport and country.

Ths library delivers a huge collection of quadrophonic hockey crowds from every perspective. And hockey crowds are different from other pro sporting crowds:
The NHL mandates that the music has to stop during play, which leaves every gasp, oh, and cheer free and clear of PA induced pollution.
This wrinkle in the rules of play means that pro hockey games are the ideal setting for recording arena crowds for any situation.
Our hockey crowds were recorded over the course of an NHL season and were done with unprecedented access. Entire games were recorded from various locations including:
– on the camera platform
– in the upper level seats in the hallway
– outside the doors pre and post game
– in the platinum level bar
– under the bleachers
– from the top of the penalty boxes
Each location was recorded in beautiful dual ORTF or double MS quad.
The end result is an immersive sound set that has been carefully edited and fully tagged with metadata. Finding the elements you need is simple and direct.
Pick this library up today and cover your arena crowd needs in style.
Pro Hockey Ambiences – Full
• 24 bit, 96kHz quadraphonic split wav files
• Soundminer and bwav metadata tags

Rodeos and horse ranches aren't what they used to be.
These days, rodeos are polluted with big PAs pumping rock and pop music through the speakers while the cowboys ride the bulls and buck the broncs. People watch through cell phones and keep a safe distance from the action. Horse ranches are overrun with the sounds of 4 wheelers and dirt bikes on the tracks nearby.
The recordings we have come from before that time.
Years ago we rolled out to the rodeo with full access, a portable DAT machine, and a determination to catch every angle we could take a mic to. The house band played from a balcony unamplified while the cowboys rode the bulls and the crowd cheered. The children rode sheep in a sport called “mutton busting” and the women mounted stagecoaches and raced around the arena at breakneck speed.
…and when the show was over the crowd stood up to leave, but the cowboys were still competing – so they kept riding.
The steer wrestling contest happened in an almost empty arena. We were there — up close, capturing every gate release, the sounds of the cow struggling to stay on his feet, and the single trainer cheering the cowboys on. The dirt and the grit and the steel clacking around were all there, exposed and clean and in their native environment.
After the rodeo we went to a local horse ranch and kept on rolling. We got gallops and canters, grunts and snorts. We handled the tack, shook the bridles, and swung the gates. We recorded in the barn and out on the fields.
These recordings come from a time before 24 bit 96kHz portable rigs existed, but they have a quality and fidelity that has survived the ages. Take a listen and remember the time when these things sounded like they should sound.
Football Crowds: Premier League is a collection of various crowd reactions recorded at a London Premier League stadium.
The collection features various generic reactions from cheers, chants, boos, goading, insults as well as some club specific chants unique to Crystal Palace FC – a club famed for it’s atmosphere which can be quite clearly heard in this library!
The library contains a mixture of longer crowd ambience beds and single soundbytes of fans reacting to the action on the pitch allowing you to craft the story of an entire sports fixture.
Sounds recorded in Stereo 24bit/48kHz and UCS compatible.

This library is ideal for anyone looking for sounds of skiing, snowboarding or a ski resort, whether on the slopes, facilities or surrounding towns. We have put together a diverse mix of sounds to make sure you have coverage of all the different elements you might need in a ski resort environment.
For the slopes you will find things like passing by skiers/boarders, sitting on lifts, lift rollers, and of course lots of detailed skiing and snowboarding both on-board and off-board, carving turns, hard stops, etc. (not all snow is the same so we have recorded in different consistencies of snow). For specific sounds there are snowmobiles, dog sleighs, and closeups of sounds of bindings, sticks, putting on gear, crunchings, amongst others. And for environments you will find things like lift station backgrounds, small ski town, mountain restaurants, and terraces.
We’re proud to release our first premier race ambience library, as we continue our exciting journey in sound experimentation with spatial audio. The Monaco Grand Prix 2018 is a genuine sonic document of the 76th edition of the Grand Prix Automobile de Monaco, the world’s most glamorous race.
If you’re looking for unique and modern race engine sounds and ambiences to use in your commercial, movie, television or game projects, here you’ll find lot of sounds with different perspectives to start building real and tactile sport soundscapes.
We made use of two favourite Ambisonics microphones: the Sennheiser Ambeo and the classic Soundfield SPS200, recorded across our Sonosax gear (SX-R4+, SX-R4, SX-M32) and their amazing preamps, which digested the high SPLs of the high-performance cars.
But that’s not all: you’ll also find extremely accurate stereo recordings made with a Sanken CSS-5, an A-B Stereo Technique configuration with a couple of omnidirectional DPA 4060 and, last but not least, a custom MS rig based on a Schoeps MK 41 supercardioid capsule (Mid), plus a MK 8 figure-8 capsule (Side), amplified by their respective CMC 6 units.
Looking for radical transformations? We recorded everything @ 96 kHz, so if you want to turn a pass-by into a dramatic spaceship pass, you’ll be free from any sonic artifacts.
Well, the name of this sound effects library speaks for itself.
Of course, it’s a tragical but also action packed story of a bunch of heavy, shiny balls who went out to take vengeance upon a group of scraggy, scallywags and their leader Kingpin – for some reason. The plan was as simple as genius: rounding up, pin down and strike hard, that pale, red-scarfed scum in a blind alley. But there was one thing they hadn’t reckoned with: Regardless how brutal and how many times the enemies were struck to the ground, some kind of cursed, evil machinery re-arranged each and every one of them in rank and file.
Long story short…
You get a comprehensive and versatile collection of 10-Pin and 9-Pin (Skittles) Bowling Sound Effects. All recorded at “Bowling Arena“ in Stuttgart, Germany. Of course without any public business. Additionally you’ll get several close up recordings from behind the curtain of the machinery that re-racks the pins. Including seamless mechanical loops, full re-rack cycles from different perspectives and of course lots of bowling ball pass bys, pin hits and some gutterballs.
Each sound was thoroughly edited and cleaned for direct use in any kind of audiovisual project.
Clear naming and embedded BWF- and Soundminer Metadata grants clarity as well as fast and reliable search results.

With A Sound Effect, Asbjoern has created a web site where our international community can browse, learn, and share the vast fruits of our labors. Together we are accelerating the very real potential power of sound design as a recognized art form.
A Sound Effect is an excellent resource for us to keep our animated films sounding unique and exciting.
A Sound Effect is a great asset to have discovered.
We found the site very easy to navigate, purchasing and downloads were effortless and the effects themselves are awesome! Asbjoern has done us all a great service.
We’ll definitely be back!
There are many great independent sound effect libraries available these days. The main problem with having so many, is keeping track of them!
A Sound Effect is a great hub, and is one of the first places I visit to look for sounds by category or genre. I started coming here to see if I could find libraries that I knew I had heard, but forgot WHERE I had heard them.
And in the process discovered libraries I never would have found otherwise. Great work! Keep it up!
We're always looking for new sounds to mangle, so when A Sound Effect had a holiday sale, I tried them out.
The purchase experience is really smooth and quick, and delivery is almost instant.
I'll definitely come back to them again in the future!
A Sound Effect is a wonderful resource for indie sound effects libraries. On top of that, it has some of the finest sound design, film and game audio interviews!
I often need very specific types of sounds so I've become a big supporter of independent recorders.
Until now I've always had to go to their individual websites. Now I can find them all in one place.
And, Asbjoern is great to work with!
A Sound Effect is a well curated boutique sound effects shop and a great place to find industry interviews and learning resources.
