Environments & Ambiences

Environment recordings, ambiences and soundscapes – from all over the world, and beyond

  • Weather Sound Effects Rural Rain Play Track 52+ sounds included, 245 mins total $47

Rural Rain is a unique collection of rain recordings in rural environments, far away from the noisy human world. More than two years getting slowly cooked and dozens of recordings discarded due to unwanted noises or ruined by too much rain have finally been worth the effort.

    • All recordings have been made in rural areas, whether that is the countryside or a country house. You will not find traffic, planes or people in any recording.
    • Several intensities are included. From some downpours and storms to the subtlely of a drop falling on leaves.
    • No wildlife either in any recording. If present, it has been cautiously edited out in RX.
    • Rain falling on surfaces such as leaves, bushes, dirt, mud, puddles, metal roofs, patio tiles, cars, concrete, plastic and so on.
    • Special focus on those rain sweeteners so hard to get, yet so nice to have in your soundscape; that is the sound of rain hitting a puddle, a leaf, a brick or even a helmet.
    • Some thunders are also included in the heaviest recordings as well as four distant ones rumbling with no rain.
    • Gear used: Sound Devices MixPre 6-II, Sennheiser 8040s in ORTF, Sennheiser 8040 & 30 in MS, Sony D100.
    • All files are in 96 kHz / 24 bit and come with embedded Soundminer metadata.
    • UCS Compatible Metadata embedded. Fields included CatID, Category, Subcategory, FX Name, Filename, Description, BWDescription, Library, RecType, Microphone, Designer, Manufacturer, Keywords.
  • Car Driving Interior aims to capture the sound of realistic, genuine everyday driving inside two selected vehicles. A Porsche Cayman GTS sport car and a Subaru Outback suv.

Car Driving Interior aims to capture the sound of realistic, genuine everyday driving inside two selected vehicles. These recordings are captured from driving on busy city streets, highways and quiet roads. One can find steady drivings as well as varieties of manoeuvres at different speeds and manner.

The two selected vehicles are a Porsche Cayman GTS sport car and a Subaru Outback suv. The Cayman has a very cosy interior and its sporty nature gives it a very robust character. The Outback in comparison sounds very spacious and deliver a lot of nuances and subtle rattling textures.

  • The “Seismic Activities” sound archive contains over 2500 different noises from vibrations, shocks and their resonances. We have taken the trouble to use a set-up of different natural sounds, such as frequency drops, thunder or the sound of deep rumbling, to control two structure-borne sound transducers.

The “Seismic Activities” sound archive contains over 2500 different noises from vibrations, shocks, and their resonances.
We have taken the trouble to use a set-up of different natural sounds, such as frequency drops, thunder, or the sound of deep rumbling, to control two structure-borne sound transducers. We have installed these converters in various locations. For example, we were at a company that produces large roller doors. There we shook all sorts of pipes, high racks, tool cabinets, gates, and the like.
In addition, we worked with many household items to create a variety of sound structures, which should make the use of “seismic activities” particularly diverse.
Almost all of the sounds were generated from a multi-channel set-up made up of Sennheiser MKH80 (ORTF), DPA 4060 (AB) and a Sony DR100. So you can expect the best sound quality. As always, a Sounddevices 744T and a Mixpre were used as recording devices.
As always, all files come with burned in metadata in open standards like iXml, BWAV, ID3 Chunk.
