Environment recordings, ambiences and soundscapes – from all over the world, and beyond
This library includes 123 sounds, recorded at rally service areas and the race track. Pass bys, idles, revvings and other car engine sounds.
This sound library is the ultimate achievement of a really ambitious project of recording winds from very remote places across the world.
Included are authentic recordings from the Boreal region (North hemisphere: in Canada and Iceland), from the Austral region (South hemisphere: Tierra del Fuego in Argentina and the Last Hope province in Chile), on Islands in Mediterranean region (Thira in Greece), in the Sahara desert (Marocco), Isle-aux-Grues (Canadian winter), and more (see file list for more details)
These were recorded either in urban settings, countryside, or complete wilderness.
Included is a set of useful synthesized, tonal, and designed winds.
The sounds are categorized into 3 folders: Designed, Indoor & Outdoor.
Recorded in Eastern Oregon’s Great Basin and High Desert Region – classic sounds of the American West, forest or desert.
These tracks are stripped highlights from the hundreds of hours of field recordings I use to make my films. A number of them include the birds fluttering and making deep natural calls right next to the recorder – about as close as you can hope to get of birds in the wild.
Not looking for eerie, creepy, glitchy, droney, moody, cinematic, terrific, dark or bright roomtones? You just need regular roomtones to mix with dialogue and/or to fill in a scene? Regular Roomtones provides just that; regular boring ass roomtones, meticulously edited to loop seamlessly!
The roomtones have been collected over a few years, recorded in different locations wherever I happened to be that day. The filenames have the recording location in them, but the sounds can, of course, be used for other locations as well.
The files have been normalized to be between 35-40 LUFS and will in most cases need to be turned down in volume. The files are 24 Bit and 48 kHz, some mono some stereo, all of them with embedded metadata.
This collection of sounds include a variety of ambiences, drones, and room tones recorded during a relaxing SPA day in Zamora, Spain. 17 tracks recorded in different spaces (Dressing Rooms, Jacuzzi, Sauna, etc) . Room Tones, Drones and Ambiences recorded and edited for audio atmos designers. SURROUND, DMS and ST VERSIONS INCLUDED, and all the files have metadata embedded for Soundminer and similar programs. They both include Spanish and English descriptions.
In Residential Ambiences you will get the sounds of 15 different recordings of residential atmospheres with a duration of 10 minutes each so there’s no need to loop.
Recordings have been done during five different periods of a day. Each one includes three versions:
Recordings feature sounds such as dozens of birds singing in the early morning, dove calls in the morning as the same time traffic gets noisier, human activities in the background in the afternoon distant traffic and voices in the evening, and sirens wailing in distance at night.
Some of the birds included are: doves, sparrows, crows, a cock, woodpeckers, blackcaps, magpies, and pigeons.
Since some of the files are extremely quiet (mainly in the evening and at night), descriptive markers have been included to highlight interesting events in an otherwise featureless waveform. These markers can be read in programs such as Izotope RX, Reaper, and Soundminer. The markers are also included as .txt files in separate folder.
All files have been recorded in 96 kHz/24 bit with Soundminer and BWAV embedded metadata.
RESIDENTIAL SEAGULLS features 18 stereo tracks of seagulls in a residential area. All recordings have been taken from backyards where the city noise is very close to zero.
Key Points:
As usual, all files come in 24 bit and 96 kHz, with Soundminer embedded metadata.
Following Residential Ambiences approach, RESIDENTIAL WINTER – Ambisonics brings you 15 ambisonic residential atmospheres recorded during different times of a day in winter: early morning, morning, afternoon, evening and night.
In these recordings you will hear birds chirping, traffic, sirens wailing in distance, dogs barking, cats meowing and rooster calls. Recording done at night and in the early morning are very quite due to the absence of traffic.
Recordings have been done with a Sennheiser Ambeo + Zoom F8. All files are in 96 kHz/24 bit and meta-tagged.
This Ambisonics sound effects library contains the original recordings in A-Format (no processing whatsoever) and in B-format (AmbiX). By using Harpex, 5.1 (LRCLfeLsRs) and stereo (ORTF) mixdowns have been also added. Note that the Lfe channel is mute. It hasn’t been removed to follow the SMPTE path order.
The Ambisonics version contains all the formats. Stereo version only includes the stereo files.
Soundcloud demo plays the stereo version.
“Restaurant Ambiences” is the first package of a series of libraries that include ambiences from different places in restaurants. Most of this pack was stealth-recorded.
Here you will find atmospheres recorded during trips in Bulgaria and Germany, so you may find Bulgarian or German speech. This package includes a variety of ambiences, which are recorded at different times of the day and at various places in restaurants.
You will find noisy crowds in the restaurant’s garden during dinner, a typical atmosphere of a large German restaurant (beer house), a small café, a kitchen in a small restaurant (during lunch preparation), kitchen room tones, warehouses, etc.
Gear used: Neumann KM184 stereo set in ORTF and XY Configuration, Zoom H6, Zoom H4. All files are meta-tagged in Soundminer
A 1960’s styled bicycle riding around at a leisurely pace, wobbling to stay straight, walking along the sidewalk or being handled and chucked to the curb. Squeaky brakes, loud gears, and clumsy metal give this bike nostalgic character.
Lacking clean constant room tones for post production work? This library delivers more than 4 hours of professionally recorded room tones from empty office rooms, basements, staircases, corridors to more exotic locations such as a sauna.
Recordings are 5 minutes long, clean and do not include any environmental details and can be used in wide range of productions.
A perfect addition for post production company or freelance sound designer sound effect library.

This library was recorded in different locations. The main one is the woods to record the detail of the mountain bicycles when riding. Other locations were on asphalt roads, to obtain the delicious sound of the wheels and chain spinning and drifting.
The library was recorded in mono and stereo depending on the perspective of the rider.
River Estuary is a series of recordings centred around the River Deben estuary in Suffolk, an area famous for its natural beauty and wildlife. It is a treasure trove of sounds that capture the ambience of this serene environment, with a focus on the wading bird calls that give the estuary its unique sonic character.
The library was mostly recorded on a boat stationed in Woodbridge in the late winter of 2018 with private access to the boatyard, allowing me to record safely over night. I continued the recordings up until late summer, making trips to other areas along the Deben in between. I was also granted permission to record on the privately owned Sutton Hoo side of the Deben, another of Suffolk’s areas of outstanding historical significance and beauty, equally full of life but further away from the rumbling traffic and human life coming from the town.
It includes the sounds of curlews, oystercatchers, redshanks, geese, swans, ducks and various other wading bird calls, as well as general ambience recordings of the area at high tide and low tide and all hours of the day. The night calls that echo over the expanse of the river at low tide are particularly evocative.
The library was recorded entirely in 24bit/96k with a double Mid/Side rig consisting of Sennheiser MKH60/30 and 8040 mics, encoded to 5.1 Wav. A stereo option is also available at a lower price. As a bonus there is a collection of bird call spot FX taken from the recordings with noise reduction applied, for those who may need to add individual wading bird calls to their ambience.
River Flows: Over & Under library brings running river sounds, captured over and under the surface. It features 80 HQ audio files, ranging from cascading waterfalls to running rivers and babbling brooks and creeks. The total duration of the collection is 4 hours with the majority of the recordings captured during wintertime, which makes them uniquely free from any bird and insect audio backdrop.
Overall, the collection caters to projects that require environmental sounds of flowing, emerging/submerging bodies of water as well as underwater ambiences.
COMPLIMENTARY SOUNDS INCLUDED
And what a bonus! We included 20 designed sounds of otherworldly, evolving aquatic ambiences, designed using our source recordings of River Flows library. We passed them through Pitch Shifters, Filtering, Eqs and Sculpting effects like Reformer by Krotos, Granular Synthesis Plugin by The Mangle, and the 3D Audio Software, Sound Particles.
This library comes along with 15 Soundminer Metadata fields, such as description, keywords, category/sub-category, microphone specifications, and more.
With the warm weather of spring comes this sound pack full of moving water sound effects. From the gentle babble of a brook to the rushing speed of a waterfall to the soft trickle of a nearby stream, this pack is designed to add realism and movement to your next project.
Recorded in a variety of provincial parks around beautiful British Columbia, Canada, all sounds were recorded in 5 minute takes, then edited down to 3 minute loopable stereo files. Extreme care was taken into isolating all recordings from the surrounding environment, all while capturing a natural and lifelike sample of the snow melt and other natural water sources.
Rivers consists of 11 beautifully recorded and edited sounds, tagged with rich metadata. From light whips and medium plops, to trickles, white water and more.
Introducing the ultimate roller coaster sound library: Roller Coaster Sound Builder includes high-quality recordings from 5 different roller coasters, from classic steel coasters to aggressive impulse coaster. This huge collection includes clean roller coaster passbys, onboard recordings, and classic roller coaster screams.
Roller coaster pass by sounds were recorded without background noise in an amusement park that was closed to the public. A great amount of natural screams with different intensities is also included, recorded during a regular summer day in the amusement park.
This collection provides unique, hard-to-access source material in high-quality, with a large amount of takes for creative sound design. We worked hard to capture as much useful material as we could when we had full access to the rides. All sounds were recorded in Särkänniemi amusement park, Tampere, Finland. Also available in the special Complete Amusement Park Sound Bundle.
This clean, stereo nature recording beautifully captures the tranquility of a typical British summer thunderstorm from the moment the birds stop singing as the first spots of rain roll in, to their re-emergence as the storm passes.
Recorded in the heart of rural Norfolk, England.
Features:
Get the sound of silence. The roomtones are captured in surround, spread them across your speakers and each room will sound more realistic than ever. Get all benefits of Ambisonics, especially for those kinds of sounds.
ROOM TONES – Industrial Building delivers hugely atmospheric ambience recordings gathered in an '80s Industrial Building in the east of Dresden, Germany.
The library sounds were captured with a 4 channel 60 cm IRT cross and 4 Sennheiser MKH8020 omnis mounted. The recordings took place on a stormy and rainy Sunday. Due to the blank surfaces inside the building, thin single-glass windows and large air shafts, the weather elements got massively amplified by walls and floors.
Additionally the rain water pipes are placed inside the building which caused a constant sound of flowing water. Also the sound of the central heating was clearly perceptible along the floors.
The library contains 19 scenes recorded in 4-channel IRT surround. Each scene consists of 2 complementing stereo tracks and is more than 3 minutes long.
Office Building features the ambiences one can hear sometimes around midnight or in the early morning hours.
During these times employees are usually at home and only service staffs are around so that the building can unfold its own sounds of ventilations, elevators and wind that blows through tilted windows. Automatic switches occasionally ignite neon lights along the floors or elevator doors open from out of nowhere.
The library contains 79 files in 5 categories: DOORS, ELEVATORS, NEON LIGHTS, ROOM TONES plus several takes from the building´s EXTERIOR surroundings.
All files are meticulously meta-tagged and seamlessly integrate into sound managing apps like Soundly, Soundminer or any other app that can read Broadcast WAVs.
Room Tones and Quiet Places features 40 HD 24bit / 96khz sound effects with a large selection of empty rooms and quiet places. Locations include car washes, computer rooms, offices, subways, train stations, laundromats and more. Most ambiences are 2-3 minutes in length.
Our second entry of our brand-new sound effect series 3D SURROUND is here: ROOM TONES EUROPE. This library offers an enormous variety of different room ambiences. Articulated presents the result of several months investigation in the realm of rustling matters:
A toolkit to create presence, reality but also interesting textures and silences.
Light breeze and heavy wind gusts were recorded on many locations: in forests, near shrubs, tall grass, corn fields, and in streets. Leaves were captured fluttering on branches but also whirling and dancing on the ground.
Great amount of variations: Leaves of all shapes (needles, compound, single, broadleaf, dry, twigs, branches,…), and various materials such as plastic, paper, fabric, dirt were recorded.
All of which through various interactions such as shuffle, shake, rub, brush, hit, fiddle, whip, and whoosh.
• Windy foliage in trees
• leaves dancing on the ground
• plants interactions & movements
• shuffling, shaking, brushing, rubbing, hitting, swooshing

This SFX library gets you the sounds of the remote San Antonio creek located in the Angeles National Forest – 32 recordings in total. The creek morphs from almost a trickle at 8,000 feet to a large waterfall below, allowing for a wide range of moving water sounds to be captured.
The hot, humid sound of saunas.
Alongside the sound of the sauna itself, this sound library focuses on the impact of water on the incredibly hot rocks. From small water droplets to large splashes, this library features a large range of steam sound effects.
All sounds were recorded using the Schoeps CCM8/CCM4 mid-side microphone, Sennheiser MKH 8020 stereo pair and Sound Devices 788T.

With A Sound Effect, Asbjoern has created a web site where our international community can browse, learn, and share the vast fruits of our labors. Together we are accelerating the very real potential power of sound design as a recognized art form.
A Sound Effect is an excellent resource for us to keep our animated films sounding unique and exciting.
A Sound Effect is a great asset to have discovered.
We found the site very easy to navigate, purchasing and downloads were effortless and the effects themselves are awesome! Asbjoern has done us all a great service.
We’ll definitely be back!
There are many great independent sound effect libraries available these days. The main problem with having so many, is keeping track of them!
A Sound Effect is a great hub, and is one of the first places I visit to look for sounds by category or genre. I started coming here to see if I could find libraries that I knew I had heard, but forgot WHERE I had heard them.
And in the process discovered libraries I never would have found otherwise. Great work! Keep it up!
We're always looking for new sounds to mangle, so when A Sound Effect had a holiday sale, I tried them out.
The purchase experience is really smooth and quick, and delivery is almost instant.
I'll definitely come back to them again in the future!
A Sound Effect is a wonderful resource for indie sound effects libraries. On top of that, it has some of the finest sound design, film and game audio interviews!
I often need very specific types of sounds so I've become a big supporter of independent recorders.
Until now I've always had to go to their individual websites. Now I can find them all in one place.
And, Asbjoern is great to work with!
A Sound Effect is a well curated boutique sound effects shop and a great place to find industry interviews and learning resources.
