Environment recordings, ambiences and soundscapes – from all over the world, and beyond

  • In High Desert Ambiences 1: Miniature, get a mini-nature collection of desolately beautiful sounds of the American southwest as the sun brings to life the songs of desert wildlife. This collection features sounds that will make you fall in love with the desert with the trickling of distant rivers, smooth cricket chirps, echoey caws from ravens so close you can hear the details in their wings flaps, snorts from a cautious yet curious mule deer, choruses of birds at dawn, and much more. Most recordings are well over 4 minutes, with one half-hour night-time track that will make you want to take out your tent immediately. For a mini-nature collection of lush, peaceful nature sounds from the heart of the American Southwest, here’s High Desert Ambiences 1: Miniature.

    • These desert ambiences are extremely quiet, so I have included descriptive markers to signal interesting events in an otherwise featureless waveform. These markers can be read in programs such as RX, Reaper, and Soundminer. The markers are also included as .txt files in the sound files folder.

  • COYOTES 1 – DESCRIPTION:
    • In High Desert Ambiences 4: Coyotes, I revisit the place where my field recording journey started: West Texas. On my drive out, a massive wildfire was burning large parts of the Davis Mountains. The day I arrived firefighters were finally able to contain the blaze, but sadly not before 22,000 acres burned. Much of the wildlife is too slow to escape, but luckily one pack of coyotes was fast enough to climb over a ridge. Normally I hear coyotes out in the plains where they love hunting jackrabbits. That night, however, I was recording from the edge of the dead fire. I was stunned to hear howling deep in the valley! The pack had run into the mountains to escape the blaze.
    • In this library, hear the angst-ridden vocals of coyotes running to escape a wildfire. Hear the howls and yips of an extremely close pack bouncing from high valley walls. Hear an echo chamber filled with the haunting howls of coyotes who has just had their home burned.

  • Environments Hospital Ambiences Play Track 35+ sounds included, 103 mins total From: $50

If you're after hospital sounds, here's a beautiful suite of surround sound hospital ambiences.

Access to hospitals can be tricky. Credentials are required, and different rules must be followed for every step one takes deeper into the building. It's not as simple as just grabbing a rig and walking in the front door.

Our hospital ambiences were recorded during one extensive day long shoot where we were granted access to one of the nation's top medical campuses. There are surprisingly few “hospital machines” making beeping noises at any given location within the building, which gives these sounds the flexibility to be used in any large institutional building.

Both public and non-public areas are covered, including:
    – exterior traffic with a helicopter taking off
    – large 3 story lobby area
    – multiple nurse's stations
    – the family waiting room
    – the cafeteria
    – the pathology lab
    – an operating room prep

Each location was recorded in dual MS and decoded using the excellent Schoeps double MS decoding tool.

The end result is an immersive set of recordings that show off the reality of what a hospital really does sound like. Pick up a copy and cover your hospital scenes the right way.

    Two versions are available:

    Full version:
    • 24 bit, 96kHz quadraphonic split wav files
