Environment recordings, ambiences and soundscapes – from all over the world, and beyond
The OUTDOOR IMPULSE RESPONSES library from BOOM gets you realistic outdoor reverbs – fast and easy.
Using impulse responses, you can apply the acoustic characteristics of a particular location to your target audio as if it had been recorded in that place. With our BOOM Library OUTDOOR IMPULSE RESPONSES library, you get 68 great outdoor impulse responses to place your sounds into specific locations and make them sound as plausible and realistic as possible. We recorded a lot of different outdoor locations such as fields, forests, hills, mountains, valleys and urban locations. We have ensured that each recording has a rich and detailed reverb tail to capture every characteristic delicacy of the respective location. All files come in high definition audio (192kHz). Each location is documented with a picture to get an impression of the surrounding area. Watch our tutorial video below to see how to work with BOOM Library impulse responses.
To use BOOM Library OUTDOOR IMPULSE RESPONSES, you need a convolution reverb plugin that allows importing impulse responses. This is not included in this library.
Get the sounds of the countryside in this library by Original Sounds. It features everything from summer storms in a village, farm animals, wind in the fields, watermills, evenings in the countryside and much more – even some lumberjacks cutting wood.
Get the sounds of the sea – captured at different beaches along the Japan coast and the French Normandy coast. Recorded at the marina, pier, harbor, bridges and beaches, the SEASIDE library delivers around 50 minutes of waves, water, seagulls and more. All recordings are AB ORTF stereo, and there’s a mono center added in some cases to deliver a LCR format.
Wind Textures II continues with the series started on Wind Textures. New textures and locations have been included in this collection in order to make it as diverse as possible.

KEY POINTS:
The Forest Ambience 1 library focuses on the ambient sounds of Central Florida’s forest ecology. The focus of this library is a collection of as much general background ambience as possible with minimal focus on any one individual element. It also focuses on a Mid Day – Early Dusk time frame.
The range of ambiences include windy gusts through thick canopies, forests alive with birds and bugs, and erie dead silences void of any life recorded near one of the nation’s largest active bombing ranges. Also included are a few plane flyovers and some outdoor trail ambience near an apartment complex as a bonus.
Captured in environments such as:
• Bottomland hardwoods
• Pine Flatwoods
• Scrub
• Upland hardwoods
• Urban nature trail
This library delivers thousands of fire & water sound effects – and not only that: we added a lot of extraordinary sweeteners to further support the already strong character and to give your sound design this specific edge. As this library carries the BOOM Library „Cinematic“ label, it is destined to once more raise the bar in terms of characteristic and state-of-the-art sound FX – available in 3 versions:
Sweeteners – The secret weapon for unique sound design
You’re going to love those as they will enhance your designs and give them an unrivalled and instant presence in the mix. They can really make the difference between regular sound design and detail-rich sound design.
The provided collection features over 1 hour of ambient recordings in Northern Italy, in the Trentino, Veneto, Lombardia, Piemonte, and Liguria regions and include cities, country sides, mountains, grape fields, national parks, roomtones, crowds, mornings/days/afternoon and nights. Also noted is some city ambiences and crowds are void of traffic noise as some city laws forbid traffic, they are clean and isolated calm and quiet crowds.
They are stereo recordings in decoded MS and XY. All files are mastered the same, in Protools HD, and are monitored through a phase scope to keep the files phase coherent, and edited to be M&E friendly.
Enjoy!

In this Kit all “Dark SciFi Drones” were carefully split in logical frequency Layers. So you have better control and you can do your own mix of these elements.
Also you can combine and mix the different layers across the ambiences by drag&drop to create nearly endless variations. Or easily do creative up-mixes to surround.
The duration of each Drone is 1:00 minute with very versatile variations in each file.
Use the layers in “Playlists” (Pro Tools) or “Track Versions” (Nuendo) for best flexibility and easy access.
Each layer of the same Drone is named after the Drone plus a letter for the layer. Starting at “A” (low frequency)…
Each Drone is separated in 2-5 layers.

Metallitronic is sound designer Nathan Moody’s latest collection of intense textures, a library of nearly three hours’ worth of metallic membranes and objects excited by electronic signals.
Metallitronic was created using advanced synthesis techniques played back through various transducers into cymbals, gongs, bowls, steel plates, prefab metal buildings, and other resonant metallic objects, close-miked in stereo with extended-frequency-range microphones. This collection radically expands a sound designer’s palette of stressed-metal sounds, horror and tension elements, crystalline creaks and groans, unsettling background atmospheres, rattling vehicular interiors, creature sound sweeteners, the sound of massive machinery, earth-shaking rumbles, and stochastic, complex rhythms.
Some textures let the complex synthesizer textures shine through – intense on their own, even if they weren’t amplified through metal – but the primary focus is on metallic drones, hits, pings, stresses, groans, wails, resonances, rattles, and unique timbres that can be layered into almost any project. The scale of the sounds ranges from detailed to overwhelmingly massive. The sounds invite aggressive filtering and extreme pitch shifting.
Every sound is recorded in stereo at 24 bits, 192 kHz, and many sounds have ultrasonic frequencies. This library includes nearly three hours of recordings, all fully tagged with metadata. Multiple articulations are ganged into single files for convenience and organization.
Protesting People is a small collection of 26 ambiences recorded in Sofia (Bulgaria) tracking in 3 different days a peaceful protest to protect nature and forests from construction. You can hear a lot of people and unrecognizable speech, the noise of a variety of instruments such as whistles, drums and others used in similar events. Moving streak in streets, whistling people and chanting OSTAVKA (Resignation) and MAFIA. This library can be used for any kind of projects in need of a protesting crowd from Eastern Europe

Quiet Hotels At Night Vol 1:
Quiet Hotels At Night is the first one of themed library series in which you’ll go through night hotels. The package includes 27 stereo tracks with evening and night atmospheres from hotel corridors and rooms. The library is recorded mostly in large hotels in Bulgaria, Sweden and Romania. You will hear a variety of quiet atmospheres from empty corridors and rooms, air conditioners, bathrooms, an empty lobby bar with working refrigerators, to low activity from neighbouring rooms and backgrounds, screaming from a distant room, etc. Room tones and ambiеnces are suitable background for any audiovisual projects.
All files are meta-tagged in Soundminer
Gear used: Sound Devices 633. Neumann KM184 stereo set, Sennheiser MKH8020 stereo set
Quiet Hotels At Night Vol 2:
“Quiet Hotels At Night Vol. 2” is the second part of our most popular library “Quiet Hotels At Night”. Comprised of the best pieces of several years of recordings. Imagine you are in a game or a security guard who is doing his regular tour. You find yourself in different corridors, rooms, and stairwells, even in the kitchen of a restaurant late at night. Through the recordings, you can experience a wide variety of settings – from riding a hotel elevator to looking around the lobby. The idea of the library is to include a rich variety of room tones and quiet atmospheres very early in the morning, late in the evening, or at night. The atmospheres in hotels of different sizes and stages of construction are quite distinctive because of their different reverberation, density of walls, doors, etc. Most of the library is focused around silence. You can hear photo-cell lighting at times, distant faint voices at others, or just sporadic sounds coming from places such as doors or footsteps from an upper floor. The stairwells are also very interesting as you can hear the sound of moving elevators stopping on another floor or the sound of pure electricity. This library sequel also includes atmospheres from the interior of moving elevators. You will hear the sound of doors closing, traveling, and doors opening. Room tones from a handful number of bathrooms are included as well. This library has been recorded in Eastern Europe and more specifically in Bulgaria which makes the atmospheres even more diverse and intriguing.
All of the files are carefully and thoroughly meta-tagged in UCS.

MAFX019 Volcano is a collection of unique sounds recorded in Ethiopia’s Afar region at Erta Ale volcano. Erta Ale is one of only a handful of volcanoes with lava lakes in the world, situated in the Danakil Depression, one of the hottest and most inhospitable places in the world. The name means Smoking Mountain in the local Afarigna language and Erta Ale does not disappoint in this regard, as you can see in the video. This place is also known as the Gateway to Hell, an appropriate moniker given the 47C/117F temperatures and lots of dead fauna we encountered.
There were only a few lava pits when the library was recorded but plenty of continuous and violent toxic gas releases. Occasionally the ground would move creating low frequency rumbles and debris falling. I had to use a long boompole in order to suspend my trusty MKH8060 over the edge and I improvised a spaced omni array by taping the MikroUsi mics to a video tripod ballhead. The expedition wasn’t 100% risk-free but it was more than worth it for these beautiful sounds.
We traveled across Canada, from the east coast to the west coast, and from the north to the Southern American’ border to capture the spirit of this fantastic country and its wild landscapes:
infinite forest and boreal forest, huge lakes, mountain rivers, torrents, ocean, plains, alpine tundra, mountain ranges, caves, and also city environments.
Over the course of 3 months we captured quiet soundscapes from gigantic boreal forests only populated by birds and squirrels. We went to the end of the north road, to the edge of the Saint James Bay, where the ice winds of the Arctic met the tundra and the end of the boreal forest.
We discovered many lakes and rivers that characterize this wild country. We crossed the gigantic plains of Manitoba to join the Rocky Mountains and the British Colombia.
Facing this wilderness, we did not forget the cities and its humans: In Montreal and Ottawa we captured many atmospheres: markets, urban parks, streets and pedestrian areas.
-> We went record in these locations: Nova Scotia, Montreal, Ottawa, Tadoussac, Bois Robert, Bay James, Ruppert river, Harricana river, Temiscaming forest, Chapleau Faunetic Reserve, Ontario Forest, Manitoba’s prairies, Northern Rocky Mountains, Salmon Glacier, Lynn canyon, Callaghan lake, Jasper.
-> All GPS coordinate are include in the sound sheet.
-The sound bank contains 68 sound takes (total duration: 329 minutes), recorded in 24/96 kHz and split into 272 files

With A Sound Effect, Asbjoern has created a web site where our international community can browse, learn, and share the vast fruits of our labors. Together we are accelerating the very real potential power of sound design as a recognized art form.
A Sound Effect is an excellent resource for us to keep our animated films sounding unique and exciting.
A Sound Effect is a great asset to have discovered.
We found the site very easy to navigate, purchasing and downloads were effortless and the effects themselves are awesome! Asbjoern has done us all a great service.
We’ll definitely be back!
There are many great independent sound effect libraries available these days. The main problem with having so many, is keeping track of them!
A Sound Effect is a great hub, and is one of the first places I visit to look for sounds by category or genre. I started coming here to see if I could find libraries that I knew I had heard, but forgot WHERE I had heard them.
And in the process discovered libraries I never would have found otherwise. Great work! Keep it up!
We're always looking for new sounds to mangle, so when A Sound Effect had a holiday sale, I tried them out.
The purchase experience is really smooth and quick, and delivery is almost instant.
I'll definitely come back to them again in the future!
A Sound Effect is a wonderful resource for indie sound effects libraries. On top of that, it has some of the finest sound design, film and game audio interviews!
I often need very specific types of sounds so I've become a big supporter of independent recorders.
Until now I've always had to go to their individual websites. Now I can find them all in one place.
And, Asbjoern is great to work with!
A Sound Effect is a well curated boutique sound effects shop and a great place to find industry interviews and learning resources.
