A distinct sound of the traditional English countryside, the ringing of church bells is an art that has been practiced for centuries, be it to summon the people to their prayers, celebrate a wedding, or announce a death.
“Church Bells of Norfolk” is a collection of sound recordings taken at a variety of different churches throughout the County of Norfolk, England- an area famous for it's large number of surviving medieval churches.
The bells of each church vary in size, weight and tone and no two towers are the same, meaning that the resulting sound varies from location to location.
Some churches are nestled amongst the bustling town centres- their chimes echoing off nearby buildings whilst competing with the raucous noise of passing traffic whilst others stand in glorious isolation in the countryside.
Aside from the exterior recordings, this collection also features recordings taken from inside the belfry as well as below in the ringing chamber, capturing the clatter of the rope pulleys and the calls of the tower captain as they instruct the ringers.
Also included are a selection of clock chimes as well as a set of sounds from the automated 12-bell carillon of St. Martin's, Glandford, which plays one of a selection of hymn tunes every third hour.
Cicadas is a collection of summer ambiences recorded in Southern Spain over the course of 2018 summer. You will get massive chorus in different densities and areas, individual chirps, and a designed section.
The temperatures during this time of the year are so high, ranging from 30ºC to 45ºC (86ºF to 113ºF), that cicadas are always present in daytime. The higher the temperatures, the more cicadas chirp. Having this in mind, some recordings from early June have less cicadas than the ones recorded in July and August. In addition to this, there are recordings both in the morning, where the cicadas are not so many but are already present, and in the evening, chirping all of them as a chorus after a whole day under the sun. The library contains:
All files come in 96 kHz / 24 bit and with embedded metadata, both in Soundminer and BWAV.
Featuring more than 250 minutes of cicadas recordings plus 65 minutes from the Designed Section.
In City Balcony Ambiences you will get the sounds of 10 different stereo recordings of city atmospheres, all of them recorded from the perspective of a balcony.
Recordings have been done during different periods of a day and in different locations:
Recordings feature sounds such as traffic, people talking, pedestrians walking by; cars, trams, trucks, motorbikes and scooters passbys, dogs barking, all of them from a distant perspective.
Descriptive markers have been included to highlight interesting events in an otherwise featureless waveform. These markers can be read in programs such as Izotope RX, Reaper, and Soundminer. The markers are also included as .txt files in separate folder.
All files (except one) have been recorded in 96 kHz/24 bit, with Soundminer and BWAV embedded metadata. Recordings go from 4 minutes up to 22.
The City Distant library gets you a series of high quality, diffused city ambiences. Choose ‘flat’, unobtrusive background tracks, or versions with emerging elements: trains, cars, trams, bells, sirens, fireworks and other noises. Captured in Prague, Czech Republic.

There are many great independent sound effect libraries available these days. The main problem with having so many, is keeping track of them!
A Sound Effect is a great hub, and is one of the first places I visit to look for sounds by category or genre. I started coming here to see if I could find libraries that I knew I had heard, but forgot WHERE I had heard them.
And in the process discovered libraries I never would have found otherwise. Great work! Keep it up!

I often need very specific types of sounds so I've become a big supporter of independent recorders.
