Environment recordings, ambiences and soundscapes – from all over the world, and beyond

  • Mexican Seaside is a unique Mid-Side collection of ocean sounds gathered during the summer of 2017 in the Yucatán Peninsula – Mexico. It contains sandy and rocky beach ambient sounds, with no human activity. These sounds were recorded at sunrise (on various days) with a Zoom H6 on a Joby GorillaPod and a MS capsule (MSH-6) covered by a Rycote Mini Windjammer. Mid-side allows you to actually adjust the width of the stereo image after it has been recorded. It provides total mono compatibility for recordings that may eventually be played back in mono, such as TV broadcasts.
The package contains a MS-RAW folder plus a LR folder with all the files decoded to stereo for quick use.

100% of “Mexican Seaside” SFX library purchases will be donated to UNICEF México.

  • Articulated presents here a careful collection of 100 Electric Fans, HVAC, AHU, and Mechanical Drones. After months of capture, we recorded, selected, and edited this unique library featuring rich, varied, and useful assets ready-to-use for any game or movie project.

These sounds can serve to inspire life inside environments, provide industrial tones, domestic houses, or back alleys, setting moods or atmospheres. They can also serve as elements to design mechanical machine or engine sounds.

The sonic quality extends a large spectrum from clean, modern, to old and rusty, on rooftop, indoor, flush ceiling-mounted, Bathroom extractor, or floor stand; along with many flavours like metal, plastic, smooth or raspy rattles with gurgling wobbles. Some of the Sounds have useful varied point of perspectives (Close-up, distance), and most of them are ‘loopable’.

    WHAT’S INSIDE:
    124 stereo files
Highly focused and meticulously edited sounds
    Wide variety
Different perspectives are included as well

Over a period of one year, I recorded various fountains from different perspectives and distances – and even underwater. And, as with every sound library from Articulated Sounds, the files are embedded with metadatas (Soundminer/iXML/XMP/BWAV/ID3).

So if you need the sound of fountains (or simply the sound of water), this library delivers nearly two hours of excellent, ready-to-use recordings:

  • Abandoned Shelters – The Danish Bunker Coast features mysterious and eerie sounds recorded in and around abandoned bunkers along the Danish West Coast.

The gathered ambiences form a comprehensive resource of steady winds, heavy gusts, rustling undergrowths as well as single waves and strong surfs that constantly stream and break through these inhospitable areas with concrete remains all around.

A big part of the library was recorded inside the bunkers where the strong nature elements of wind and water are transformed into heavily comb filtered textures and dark atmospheres.

  • Drones & Moods Aberrant Drones Play Track 79 sounds included, 409 mins total $49.99

Discover nearly 7 hours of individually flavoured, hauntingly musical and ever-evolving drones, packaged neatly into 79 of the kind of audio files that you can never have enough of.

In many ways, Aberrant Drones is the sister library of the Augmentation Elements library, as it provides you with the creative tools required to augment your sound design.

Whilst the Augmentation Elements library arms you with tools such as whooshes, risers and stings, allowing you to sweeten specific elements of your sound design, the Aberrant Drones library allows you to augment the mood of an entire scene. Each audio file is populated with richly descriptive SoundMiner metadata, making it easier than ever before to sift through hours of abstract drones.

This is why the metadata is usually described in terms of feeling and mood, like so:

    Drone,Sci-Fi,Abstract,Cacophonous,Glowing,Impending Doom
    Drone,Sci-Fi,Abstract,Textured,Vibrating,Oscillating,Anxiety

Augment your creative tool-box with Aberrant Drones, and transform your sound design work!

African Cloud Forest is a collection of immersive ambiences recorded in Ethiopia’s high-altitude montane rainforests. These recordings will transport you to the heart of remote cloud forests, teeming with wildlife and free from man-made noise.

  • Animals & Creatures African Jungle Play Track 80+ sounds included, 460 mins total From: $125

African Jungle is a huge collection of unique ambiences recorded in Central Africa’s Congo Basin rainforests. To my knowledge, these are the first surround field recordings made in this area. Last year I spent a whole month off the grid, listening to and recording a variety of habitats at all times of day and night, at the height of the rainy season when birds are most vocal. It took me many days of travel to get to these places, from using trains, boats, cars and planes to hiking on foot in the jungle.

  • Animals & Creatures African Rainforest Play Track 69+ sounds included, 330 mins total From: $95

African Rainforest is an expansive collection of recordings made in the various types of rainforest that lie on the Ugandan side of the Albertine Rift, ranging from high-altitude afromontane to tropical lowland jungles.

From the spooky croaking choruses of black and white colobus monkeys to barking baboons, hooting DeBrazza’s monkeys, moaning Mona monkeys, screaming chimpanzees, warbling mangabey and the otherworldly twang of the blue monkey, these forests are packed to the brim with primates calling from the canopy. Yet beyond all the monkey exuberance, these recordings are characterised by tranquility and spaciousness, where slow lazy bird calls are interspersed by gently fluttering insect choruses and pinging tree frogs.

Available in stereo and surround and covering all times of day, African Rainforest not only features lengthy ambient recordings but also includes a number of close-up vocalisations of two kinds of great ape: chimpanzee and mountain gorilla, recorded on location in their natural habitat.

    Library highlights:

    • 5.5 hours of lush ambiences in surround & stereo
    • 10 primate species
    • 50+ birds
    • Numerous frogs and mammals
    • Bonus recordings of close up chimp & gorilla vocalisations

RECORDING TIPS – HOW TO RECORD RAIN:
    • Use microphones known to perform well in high humidity. I use Sennheiser microphones. View my full gear list – here.
    • Use cables made with Neutrik X-HD Series waterproof connectors. This keeps water from getting into your cable connection points.
    • Use a dry bag for your recorder. I like the Sea to Summit 65L bags because they have a wide mouth and can easily fit a recording bag through the opening.
    • Put your dry bag at least 25 feet away and cover it with local foliage. Otherwise you’ll just record the sound of rain hitting a dry bag.
    • Use a Cinela Pianissimo Double Mid/Side blimp with a Kelly Rain Cover.
    • Coat the inner cover of the Cinela Pianissimo with NixWax as Cinela directs on their website. This is a water repellant molecule that is also acoustically transparent. The water repellant causes the water to bead up and roll off while also letting the air through. Read more about how NixWax works – here.
    • The honeycomb of the Kelly Rain cover disperses drops as they hit the blimp which minimizes thumps. However, don’t use the Kelly Rain cover in areas with lots of insects because they tend to get stuck in the honeycomb, buzz for hours, and ruin recordings. The honeycomb cover also doubles as excellent protection for the blimp if a bear/moose/elk decides to chew on it.
    • Find a section of forest with low and dense deciduous leaves. These leaves catch the rain so drips don’t thump on the blimp. Occasional thumps during heavy rain are okay because they are easy to edit out in post.
    • Waterproofing a microphone blimp is totally game changing. I can now leave my rig out in the elements for 24 hours without fear of rain. Waterproof blimps and 32-bit float recorders have opened up a whole new world of recording for me  and I couldn’t be more excited.
    • Build a platform of local foliage to cover the blimp for extra protection. George Vlad has an excellent video on how to build a natural rain canopy – here.
    • I learned many of these rain recording techniques from George Vlad, so make sure you check out his work at Mindful Audio.

  • This library brings you 200 sounds (3+ hours) of 96kHz/24-bit stereo audio from the remote region of Banaue in the northern Philippines. This includes 180 x 1-minute loopable ambiences recorded from dawn to dusk, including local animals, towns, villages, vehicles, rain, thunder and waterfalls – an extensive variety of ambiences from multiple locations.

As the region is currently undergoing extensive restoration efforts due to landslides, abandonment and other destruction, 20% of this library’s earnings will be donated to the “Banaue Rice Terraces Restoration Project” to help maintain this unique landscape and soundscape.
