Wild Animals Sound Effects

A huge number of pristine animal recordings, recorded around the world – for authentic animal sounds, or as building blocks for creature and monster sounds

  • Finnhamn – Sounds From The Kvarken Archipelago is a collection of natural soundscapes recorded in the Finnish nature during one year.

Finnhamn is a small peninsula in the Kvarken World Heritage Site. Here you can find both wild coastal and calm archipelago landscapes, an old growth forest, wetland, lakes and open plains.

This covers in other words a lot of the landscapes you will find in Scandinavia.

The recordings where made during a one year period, so soundscapes from all four seasons are well covered.

The trail to the old fishing cottage on the hill of the headland goes trough a 300 year old protected forest that is home to a multitude of animals, birds, insects, trees and plants, some of which we get to know more intimately in these recordings. Finnhamn is located in the unique Kvarken Archipelago, which is Finland’s only Natural World Heritage Site on the UNESCO World Heritage List. Together with Sweden’s High Coast, the Kvarken Archipelago is the best place in the world to experience and understand the land uplift phenomenon caused by the last Ice Age.

The isolated location of Finnhamn and the adjacent forest is rather unique in that sense, that not much sound pollution reaches it. It is well worth a visit if you want to experience deep natural quiet and wonderful and invigorating nature.

The package contains 165 files with a total playing time of 14 hours!

    Recorded in 48kHz & 24 bit with a Sound Devices 633 recorder, DPA 4061 microphones and JRF D-series hydrophones. Presented in 48kHz, 24 bit & 44.1kHz, 16 bit stereo.

    The compressed package is 9.8/4.5GB.

The tracks are labeled according to the UCS standard, except for the first 4 characters that indicates the order in which the tracks where recorded. If you want to use a database that speaks the UCS language, then please remove the first 4 characters of the filename. You can then arrange the tracks in the right order using the last UserData field (the date).

  • In this library you will find recordings made by tracking a herd of wild Roosevelt Elk in the Pacific Northwest and recording them in the fall at the beginning of the “rut” when the males begin competing for attention of the females. Recording this library I quickly found that searching for a single target species to record is quite different than choosing a location and recording whatever happens to be there. New challenges were presented and a great deal of planning went into finding where the herd was likely to be at the time. With a brilliant stroke of luck all that planning paid off on the first attempt!

    Included are 30 sounds of:

    • Bull elk bugling
    • Bull elk sparring and clashing antlers
    • Calves calling

All the recordings were made in the same morning, meaning they can be plugged into the same game with a minimal amount of ambience matching. Note that although I made use of a parabolic mic during the recording, because these are wild animals I kept distance and hid behind a bush, staying out of sight of the elk so as not to disturb them. This introduces some extra “air” or ambience into the recording which I have chosen not to remove in order to preserve the integrity of the sound of the elk and to leave this option for you to decide.

I’ve already done the hard part of finding the elk and recording them for you, now you can focus on the creativity of your project.

  • The Audio Hero Herbivorous Mammals collection features 162 professionally recorded sound effects, ready for use in your productions. Included in this library are Pandas, Beavers, Camels, Cows, Donkeys, Elephants, Llamas and more! These sounds are all hand-picked from the Hollywood Edge Animal Trax library.

  • A mini library of Maldivian fruit bats (aka flying foxes) vocalising and screaming their soul out during the early hours. The sound is a very distinct scream captured in 96kHz mostly with Sennheiser 8060 shotgun fully extended and pointed at the source. In the SoundCloud preview, you can hear sound pitched down by 3 octaves, which is quite terrifying.

The recording was done on an island, few takes have background noise of the ocean, which was lowered by applying EQ and RX9. These are included as separate files along with the originals.

  • This mini-library is taken from a session recording ducks and geese in the Pacific Northwest during their Fall Migration. Included are sounds of Mallards, Canada Geese, Cackling Geese, along with some Downy Woodpeckers and Pacific Wrens who wanted to join in on the fun.

All files are UCS compliant and have full metadata embedded.

  • Bring your creature designs to life with a ferocious edge using the beastly power of Wildlife Collection: Leopards. Containing more than 200 exotic leopard sound effects, this library delivers a wide variety of recordings that are ready for naturalistic use or manipulation for sound design applications.

Featuring the sounds of both spotted leopards and black leopards, recordist and sound designer Chris Diebold (Spider-Man: Homecoming, Transformers: The Last Knight) captured this collection at 24-bit/192kHz using multiple microphones, including the Sanken CO-100K, which captures and maintains up to 100kHz (rather than 20kHz from other microphones), making these natural and characteristic leopard recordings ripe for pitch processing and control over your sound design. Use the high-quality recordings of monstrous growls, threatening snarls, and ornery groans to design your beasts, creatures, and more.

In addition to the raw recordings, this collection also contains designed and “hyped” sounds, ready to drag-and-drop directly into your projects. Each sound file is embedded with rich, descriptive metadata for fast, intuitive search results to help increase efficiency and sustain creativity. Wildlife Collection: Leopards is also included in Pro Sound Effects’ CORE: Pro.

  • The Animal Symphony – “Harris’s Hawk” was made possible through a collaboration with the amazing people at Terra Natura.

This exclusive sound library features 36 high-quality audio tracks, with multi-take recordings that capture every vocalization and texture of the Harris’s Hawk. Using high-end microphones, such as the Sanken CO-100K and Sennheiser MKH 8050, along with the Zoom H6 recorder, we meticulously documented the nuances of each sound of these birds. The recordings, made at 24-bit/192kHz and 96kHz sampling rates, offer exceptional clarity and depth, ideal for high-demand productions.

Within this collection you will find a variety of Harris’s Hawk vocalizations, such as alarm calls, contact calls, and proximity screeches, captured at different proximities. With multiple variations and takes, this library is perfect for projects seeking realism and authenticity in wildlife sounds or for more creative projects such as creating fantasy creatures.

Each recording has been carefully edited to remove unwanted noise, and since it was made indoors, all traces of reverberation have been eliminated, ensuring a pure sound. Thanks to the ultrasonic microphones, even when reducing the tone, users will be able to enjoy a full richness in the frequency range. This library is an essential tool for those looking for authentic, high-fidelity animal sounds.
