Sounds of many species of insects and bugs from all over the world – including close-up insect sound effects as well as sounds of swarms, buzzing and crawling.
California Grassland Wildlife is a collection of 95 Stereo and 33 Quad Recordings of over 30 different species of birds that can be found in Grassland, Plains, and High Desert Environments. Also included are a few recordings of Coyotes, Grasshoppers, Insects. Some other quieter ambiences are included as well.
Most of the recordings from this library took place in The Carrizo Plain, an open expanse of Grassland that spans 50 miles long and 15 miles wide West of the Mojave Desert in California’s Central Valley. It’s an arid area far from any towns, and a fairly harsh environment that most years gets very little rain. A number of dirt roads go on for miles and stretch across the flat plain and hilly landscape, eventually leading up to the Temblor and Caliente Ranges. Abandoned and weathered dilapidated remnants of old ranches, water tanks, barns, metal sheds, farm machinery, vehicles, and corrals from a bygone era of the west can be discovered if one ventures off the beaten path.
At first glance, one wouldn’t think there’d be much wildlife out there, but I discovered it’s an area that has quite a bit going on. A lot of the old structures, along with the few areas with trees become the resting place and shelters for birds and animals. Over a span of two years I made a number of trips to this location trying to capture as much of the local wildlife as I could.
Included are sounds from Dawn, Morning, Afternoon, Dusk, and late evening. Perspectives vary from extremely close to medium and distant. I’ve split out the sounds by species and more Active, Medium, Specific, in order to give a lot of flexibility when trying to use these sounds for projects.
Barn Owls chirping overhead, the single rhythmic call of Bell’s Sparrows, the close hooting of Great Horned Owl’s, the constant cooing of Doves, Ravens slowly traveling over an open field, Finches swarming and providing quite the cacophony. Detailed sounds of wings of birds and grasshoppers. Coyotes howling in the distance. It was a lot of fun putting this one all together.
California Grassland Abandoned is the companion library to this one and is more focused on Ambiences, winds, and sounds from Abandoned Structures.

A field-recorded collection from Vietnam, Cambodia and Thailand capturing the sounds of tropical environments, urban life, transport and religious sites.
Southeast Asia includes jungle ambiences, heavy monsoon rains, street markets and traditional ceremonies.
Last September, I spent 3 weeks vacationing in Southeast Asia, visiting Vietnam, Cambodia and Thailand.
During my stay, I recorded everything I thought could be characteristic of those cultures: from tropical to urban environments, religious ceremonies and places of worship, modes of transportation (from boats to tuk-tuks), spoken language, monsoon rain, etc.
The recordings are situational, meaning I didn’t prepare anything before starting to record. If I found myself in a location that seemed suitable, I simply pressed REC.
I used my Tascam DR100 MK3 or the Zoom F6 with a pair of Line Audio OM1 omnidirectional microphones
Audio files are 96kHz/24 Bit. Cleaned and edited for professional use, with UCS naming and full metadata.
The Animal Symphony – Flight of the Bees was made possible by the collaboration of “Mieles Sandrita“, who opened their doors to us and provided exceptional care throughout the recording process.
This sound library offers 55 high-quality audio tracks, each with multiple variations meticulously captured to ensure unmatched sound quality. The recordings are organized with consistent nomenclature, making it easy to combine or swap takes depending on the needs of your project.
Recording bees in motion posed a unique challenge, as they kept flying around the microphones, and tracking them accurately was virtually impossible due to the number of bees present. Still, we managed to capture complete swarm environments, including tracks with predetermined durations and continuous loops. Some takes can be combined, as on occasion a bee remained within the capture radius of all microphones simultaneously.
Most of the fluttering sounds are available individually so you can create your scene according to your preferences. Additionally, the sounds are not pre-panned, allowing for complete flexibility in adjusting them to your mix.
The recording was done with high-end equipment, such as the Sennheiser MKH 8050 microphone, the Sanken CO-100K and a Zoom H6 recorder to capture stereo sound. Thanks to ultrasonic capture, by lowering the pitch of the recordings, a depth and frequency richness is maintained ideal for creative uses, such as the creation of spaceships, jet engines or any sound design.
The tracks were recorded at 24-bit and 192 kHz / 96 kHz, guaranteeing professional quality in every detail.
Finally, all recordings have been carefully edited to remove external noises, such as birds, wind, people or footsteps, ensuring a clean experience ready for use in any professional production.
Ideal applications:
– Video games: Add realism and depth to the natural environments of your games.
– Cinema and Documentaries: Enrichment of the audiovisual product with authentic sounds.
– Educational Applications: Use these sounds in educational projects to teach about wildlife and animal behavior.
– Multimedia Projects: Ideal for any project that seeks to enrich the user’s listening experience.
Technical details:
– Total audios: 55 (224 Individually)
– Format: 192kHz – 96kHz/24bit

FOREST DAY is a diverse collection of 59 isolated Forest Ambiences and Wildlife Sounds.
This library came out of a love for hiking and exploring Mountains and Forests and capturing the wonderful soundscapes of that world. Most of these recordings took place in California, in particular, a number of areas throughout the Angeles Forest. You’ll also come across sounds from high atop the Eastern Sierras, San Jacinto Wilderness, Los Padres Forest, as well as a few other Forests.
A variety of different bird species are included, at lower elevation settings, higher Mountains, throughout the day, some in isolation, others sometimes alongside wind.

With a living and breathing landscape, this area is home to many insects, wildlife, natural water sources and remote villages.
Featuring recordings of countryside roads, large groups of insects and cicadas, Chinese town chatter, Chinese street sellers and old Chinese boats this pack captures the essence of Thousand Island lake. Includes 25 audio tracks all recorded at 24bit / 44.1 kHz with UCS metadata.
Recorded across some of China’s most breathtaking locations, including the limestone peaks of Yangshuo, the historic alleyways of Beijing’s Hutong districts, and the iconic Great Wall. This pack captures the rich and diverse natural soundscapes of China, from serene countryside to ancient city environments.
Featuring recordings of heavy thunderstorms, cascading waterfalls, dense insect and frog choruses, and the atmospheric sounds of Beijing’s traditional neighborhoods, this collection showcases the raw beauty and tranquility of China’s natural and cultural landscapes.

Garden and nature all over the year: the fresh spring air filled with a morning concert of birds, crickets and summer ambiences, echoing neighbourhood chatter, gardening sounds, dogs barking, roosters crowing, jets and propeller planes passing overhead, as well as the profound silence and eerie presence of nocturnal animals in the depths of the night; the awakening of nature and residents in the early morning hours, and much more.
‘Residential Forest Complete’ combines all four libraries of long-term recordings from a German allotment environment into one. This remote area, surrounded by forest, features cottages, ponds, and an abundance of natural sounds. The library provides a rich blend of suburban, residential, and forest ambiences.
‘Residential Forest Complete’ includes 155 unique ambiences recorded in Germany during summer (August 2021), spring (April 2022), winter (January 2023) and autumn (October 2024). From these 96 hours of recordings, I have carefully selected and edited the finest moments, creating a 19 GB soundscape that takes listeners on a journey from afternoon to evening, through the night, and into the morning and midday hours in this residential forest setting.
To capture the profound silence of the night, I used a matched pair of Rode NT1-A microphones with exceptionally low self-noise, paired with a Tascam HD-P1 recorder.
The total duration of the library is approximately 13 hours, with most ambiences ranging from 5 to 10 minutes in length. Some are longer, while a few are shorter.
‘Residential Forest Complete’ was recorded in AB stereophony at 48 kHz, 24-bit.
Costa Del Sol – Crickets And Dogs contains well edited and well recorded sounds for your projects! Recorded on a Sound Devices MixPre6II and a matched pair of lom BasicUchos. One file is recorded with a Sanken CO100K. Recorded at 192/24.

The California Grassland Bundle includes two Libraries, California Grassland Abandoned and California Grassland Wildlife. The recordings from this library mostly took place in The Carrizo Plain, an open expanse of Grassland located West of the Mojave Desert in California’s Central Valley.
California Grassland Abandoned recordings feature dilapidated remnants of old ranches, water tanks, barns, metal sheds, farm machinery, and corrals. Many of these were far off the beaten path and a number of miles were logged along dirt and gravel roads. The focus was to record things that had a lot of character. Also included are calm, medium, and higher winds in metal sheds, small houses, barns, tall dry grass, and in some exterior locations out in the Plain.
California Grassland Wildlife features of over 30 different species of birds that can be found in Grassland, Plains, and High Desert Environments. Also included are a few recordings of Coyotes, Grasshoppers, Insects, along with some quieter ambiences.
At first glance, one wouldn’t think there’d be much wildlife out in such a vast remote area, but I discovered the Grassland has quite a bit going on. A lot of the old structures, along with the few areas with trees become the resting place and shelters for birds and animals. Over a span of two years I made a number of trips to this location trying to capture as much of the local wildlife as I could.
More info on both libraries can be found by clicking on the Individual links.
This library mostly consists of isolated mammal, bird, amphibian & insect sounds from Europe recorded close up in nature or at rewilding shelters.
While all animals have been recorded in Germany, many inhabitat places all around the world, from Asia to Africa and America.
I already released three libraries with Eurasian animals and they are also available as a bundle with this library.
This library adds isolated recordings of animals that have not been very present in my other libraries of living creatures. I did record some big bugs (stag beetle, violet carpenter bee, maybug…), some bad-tempered european wildcats and rare birds (bald ibis, eagle owl, little owl…). Also I included lots of frog and toad recordings with species that are seldom heard nowadays as well as more common species. There is a couple of juvenile animals (nutria, mute swan, house sparrow,…) in here too.
It is a perfect library not only for nature documentaries or other realistic sound design, but as everything was captured in high sample rates up to 192kHz, it can be used as unique source sounds for dinosaurs, aliens, monsters, zombies, fictional animals and creatures or even for weird machines.
Some animals can not be fully represented by single sounds, so I added some nature ambiences, like a rich frog chrous or a busy flock of starlings.
List of animals:

Welcome to Mutant Insects – Flying! This library gathers a wide range of oversized designed flying insects along with an extremely rich source recordings toolbox. If you need flying insects or just wing sounds in general, than this is the library to get! This collection allows you to quickly and easily create every flying creature and mutant you might have in mind, but also is very helpful to sweeten or emphasize details with natural layers for real life documentaries, games or feature films. These insect sounds are more impressive than the sounds of real life insects so we called them “MUTANT insects”. This collection is used in several Hollywood productions such as by Tim Nielsen (Senior Sound Designer) on the Dark Crystal series. Created by Red Libraries by Frederic Devanlay (Solar Sky, Future Weapons) and Thibault Csukonyi (Robotic Lifeforms 2, Sinematic 2)
“This library is a dream come true for anyone designing or cutting insect wings. The variety of sounds to play with is amazing, and I find myself going back to this library again and again anytime I have to play in the ‘insect’ world. Wonderful sounds indeed!”
– Tim Nielsen (Star Wars, Toy Story 3, Dark Crystal – Senior Sound Designer)

Andaman and Nicobar tropical islands library is a rare collection of soundscapes captured in one of the Earth’s most remote jungles positioned in the middle of the ocean. These extensive groups of islands not only hold great biodiversity with many endemic species but are also still inhabited by real tribes that have no contact with the outside world. Mindfully curated sounds captured by one of the world’s most silent and sensitive omnidirectional microphones.
Crickets. A lot of crickets. It was quite a deafening experience recording this.
I’ve captured increments with a handheld ORTF pair of Sennheiser 8040s on a boom pole pointing at the loudest sound source and then switched to 2 DPA 4060s that recorded throughout the night. This offered a bit of variation in the intensity of sound and quantity of crickets performing for you that night. You can hear occasional tropical birds towards the morning.
The library offers around 6 hours of audio and I’ve also cut below 1.7 kHz & 4 kHz to offer a bit more isolation for crickets. This is done on separate takes as an option.

Animal Hyperrealism Vol II is a library containing sounds themed animal vocalisations, from real to designed creatures totaling more than 2000 individual sounds in 283 files.
The sounds were partly recorded with animals trained for media production, partly recorded in zoos and wildlife centers. The asset list includes but is not limited to: amur leopards, bottlenose dolphins, californian sealions, pacific walruses, red ruffed lemurs, owls, parrots, dwarf little fruit bats, hamsters, guinea pigs and many more.
The content has been recorded at 192KHz with a Sanken CO100K plus a Sennheiser 8050 for center image and a couple of Sennheiser MKH8040 for stereo image.
A special section of the library features samples recorded at 384KHz. For these sounds an additional microphone was employed, specifically the CMPA by Avisoft-Bioacoustics which records up to 200 KHz. This microphone was actually used to record most of the library but the 384KHz format was preserved only where energy was found beyond 96KHz not to occupy unnecessary disk space.
All files are delivered as stereo bounce of these for mics, though in some instances an additional couple of CO100K was added to the sides.
The resulting ultrasonic spectrum is rich and allows for truly extreme manipulation of the content.

There are many great independent sound effect libraries available these days. The main problem with having so many, is keeping track of them!
A Sound Effect is a great hub, and is one of the first places I visit to look for sounds by category or genre. I started coming here to see if I could find libraries that I knew I had heard, but forgot WHERE I had heard them.
And in the process discovered libraries I never would have found otherwise. Great work! Keep it up!
We're always looking for new sounds to mangle, so when A Sound Effect had a holiday sale, I tried them out.
The purchase experience is really smooth and quick, and delivery is almost instant.
I'll definitely come back to them again in the future!
A Sound Effect is a wonderful resource for indie sound effects libraries. On top of that, it has some of the finest sound design, film and game audio interviews!
I often need very specific types of sounds so I've become a big supporter of independent recorders.
Until now I've always had to go to their individual websites. Now I can find them all in one place.
And, Asbjoern is great to work with!
A Sound Effect is a well curated boutique sound effects shop and a great place to find industry interviews and learning resources.
