In the summer of 2021 I spent about a month in Seattle and did a lot of field recording. One of the most successful sessions was a round trip to Winslow on the Washington State Ferry. The ship is huge and just about everything vibrates sympathetically with the engine pulse. This library includes all of those vibration recordings (Shock-mounted Sony PCM-100; 96k/24bit) To keep things interesting, and somewhat on point, I’ve scoured my personal library for other unique sounds – real and synthetic – which I’ve gathered or created over 30+ years that have some sort of vibration (or vibration-adjacent) element. I was pretty liberal in how I defined it: Quantum foam (Organic or Performed) The result is an eclectic mix – vibration being the through-line.
All sounds have UCS compliant metadata.
Famous for its gourmet food, fine wines, stunning architecture, famous monuments and fashion, Paris is an incredibly beautiful European city which attracts visitors from all over the world, be it for a romantic getaway or a cultural break. We wandered around this vast city recording a huge collection of varied ambiences to bring you an audio snapshot of the bustling French city and its unique soundscapes.
Travel with us from the banks of the River Seine, high up the Eiffel tower and on to the affluent neighbourhood of Passy before heading to the cobbled streets of Montmartre through to Pigalle and the Moulin Rouge.
Along the way we captured busy city centre streets brimming with both locals and tourists, heavy traffic featuring lots of bicycles and motorbikes, both favourite modes of transport for Parisians, quiet back streets, urban parks and restaurants full of diners. We also made sure to record transport hubs like Charles de Gaulle Airport, train stations and the Paris Metro to ensure you have everything you need for projects requiring sounds of the French capital.
“Prepared Turntable” is a sound object library recorded by Marc Hasselbalch.
Inspired by the sound artists who work with preparing and altering their instruments through the addition of external objects, this library is as much a useful pool of material for sound designers as it is a document of a sound object and the various nuances of circular, squeaking and screaming textures it produced.
The primary preparation was to have various metal springs run across the vinyl record and record this in various ways, such as with the turntable’s own (broken, humming and hissing) pickup and contact microphones. Small nudges to the position of the springs and objects would result in very different timbres. Some rich in resonant, nuanced textures, some rich in metallic screams and howls.
Other preparations done during recording: letting a credit card scrape freely across the record, attaching a contact microphone to the little comb from a discarded music box and letting that make contact with the record in various way – and more.
Each take is about 60 seconds long to allow for the small, irregular nuances to reveal themselves. Some recordings reveal a great amount of irregular movement while some recordings have the objects settle a very hypnotic state. Presented rather raw without any intrusive, designed alterations.
The recordings are offered in 96 kHz / 24 bit with UCS metadata.

There are many great independent sound effect libraries available these days. The main problem with having so many, is keeping track of them!
A Sound Effect is a great hub, and is one of the first places I visit to look for sounds by category or genre. I started coming here to see if I could find libraries that I knew I had heard, but forgot WHERE I had heard them.
And in the process discovered libraries I never would have found otherwise. Great work! Keep it up!
We're always looking for new sounds to mangle, so when A Sound Effect had a holiday sale, I tried them out.
The purchase experience is really smooth and quick, and delivery is almost instant.
I'll definitely come back to them again in the future!

I often need very specific types of sounds so I've become a big supporter of independent recorders.
Until now I've always had to go to their individual websites. Now I can find them all in one place.
And, Asbjoern is great to work with!
