FOREST DAY is a diverse collection of 59 isolated Forest Ambiences and Wildlife Sounds.

This library came out of a love for hiking and exploring Mountains and Forests and capturing the wonderful soundscapes of that world. Most of these recordings took place in California, in particular, a number of areas throughout the Angeles Forest. You’ll also come across sounds from high atop the Eastern Sierras, San Jacinto Wilderness, Los Padres Forest, as well as a few other Forests.

A variety of different bird species are included, at lower elevation settings, higher Mountains, throughout the day, some in isolation, others sometimes alongside wind.

Also included are isolated Mountain winds in different variations and with vegetation and tree creaks. There’s Cicadas and a few day crickets.

Detailed metadata and markers have been provided so they’re easily searchable. Photos are embedded in every file to give an idea of what the location was like. Checking out the Metadata Sheet will give on a better idea of everything else that’s in the library.

In addition, I’ve included the free mini library FOOTHILLS.

  • Amphibians & Reptile Sound Effects Forest Night Play Track 27+ sounds included, 81 mins total $40

When the sun goes down the Forest comes alive. Well, at least a very different version of it. It’s a pretty amazing place, with the various rhythms and wildlife going about their business. FOREST NIGHT is 27 Files and includes the dense sounds of crickets all throughout the night and into dawn. You’ll hear birds making their nests, Owls and Poorwills calling out to one another. The random dogs barking in the distance, the cacophony of Tree Frogs.

Most of this library came out of a few different over night recordings in the Angeles Forest. I taped a couple of mics to an Oak and Pine Tree and hoped for the best. There’s also a few others from when I was feeling a bit more adventurous and decided to roam around in the dark.

Detailed metadata and markers have been provided so they’re easily searchable. Checking out the Metadata Sheet will give one a better idea of everything else that’s in the library.

  • All files are recorded 32bit, 192 kHz, with RØDE NTG1, RØDELink Lav and FEL Clippy XLR EM272 microphones, Sound Devices MixPre-6 II & Zoom F3 recorders. Library contains wav files of driving and exterior foley, mechanical and electrical sounds. It is also available in UCS.

  • This sound library features typical soundscapes from Switzerland, cow herds, pasture valley, sheep herds, cowbells, forest, mountain, tractors, … fresh air.

Inside this library is 11 stereo ambiences. Great immersion in Switzerland Countryside Soundscapes!
  • Fully Universal Category System (UCS) compliant sound effects library of isolated tire skids (without any engine sounds!). This library offers detailed recordings of various drifting sounds on tarmac with both onboard and exterior microphone perspectives – 22 files, 16 min 43 sec, a total of 472mb (24bit/96khz).

The onboard recordings were captured with DPA 4060 and Sennheiser MKH 8020 microphones.

The exterior recordings have both stereo and mono perspectives and were captured with Neumann KM184 and Sennheiser MKH 8060 microphones.

Cars recorded: Porsche Taycan Turbo (2021) and Toyota GT86 (2014).

  • UK Parks & Petting Zoos Vol. 1 features a variety of sounds from the animals and environments in rural North-East, England.

Included are recordings of: grunting pigs; clucking hens; cawing crows; cheeping blackbirds and more!  The candid quality of these sounds makes them perfect for injecting a sense of rusticism into your Film, TV and Game projects.

All sounds are delivered in 24Bit 96kHz format allowing for further sonic manipulation and have been meticulously edited and tagged with extensive UCS compliant metadata for ease of use.

  • Wind collection Vol 2 offers gentle breezes to strong gusts, spooky drafts to rare old bamboo field wind sounds. All files are clean and contain no traffic noise or any other human made annoying sounds. This means the wind sounds can cover many productions including documentary, game sounds, movie background, and for all time periods! From medieval settings to unknown times and places, these wind recordings offer a credible background. During 3 years this collection was growing bit by bit, adding variations and useful situations. The rare presence of insects or birds is mentioned in the metadata, but they apply to less than a handful of files.
The acoustic wind collection covers over 3,5 hours of stereo recordings, binaural recordings for immersive wind sounds, and some mono files for specific use.

When Loop is indicated in the filename, the file can be looped as you would expect, but these files are unlike sample loops, or instrument loops: they are of course longer and loop after a good amount of time, sometimes several minutes. The looped files are chosen by their contents and have no moments that are too recognizable if heard a second time, so they are useful for backgrounds.

All files have UCS compliant names and include metadata with useful descriptions.

You can find a Draft folder with stereo and binaural recordings in interesting abandoned places that had a draft close to a door or window. You might hear some dark reverb or cracks in those places that deliver a great ghostly atmosphere.
The bamboo wind recordings are also very special as these were made in old bamboo fields that were not cleaned. This means there were old and broken parts between the weeping bamboo, assuring nice clunks and squeaks.
Other than that you will find many winds, through air, through vegetation, in empty villages, in a small van for specific perspectives, wind through tunnel, very bad recordings with no wind protection for typical interview fails…

You can find the following libraries in this collection >

    Wind collection: Volume 1
    Wind collection Vol 1

    Wind collection: Volume 2
    Wind collection vol 2

    Wind collection: Volume 3

  • Universal Category System (UCS) Wind Craft Play Track 93 sounds included, 96 mins total $38

Wind Craft is 96 minutes / 1.8 GB of designed wind sound effects.
93 separate files – recorded in 24bit/96kHz. All sounds are UCS-compatible.

Wind Craft features artificially designed wind sound effects done the old way: crafted using mechanical contraptions, physical props and noise from analog synths.
The goal was to explore wind sounds as something made-up and performed. Inspiration came from old cartoons, and from elements of the many recordings of real wind, I have made in the past. From noisy pitch-modulated whooshes, to whistles, moans and overtones – all of which sometimes occur naturally around objects and openings hit by wind.

The star of the collection is a replica of the type of wind machine used in theaters and in old cartoons: a hand-cranked cylinder fitted with wooden slats, rotating against a piece of canvas. It is a very recognizable sound, but it took some trial and error getting the construction, the canvas, and the performance right. Gave me even more respect for the sound designers of Olde.

Further explorations in the possibilities of friction were done with mattresses, carpet tiles, metal springs and various types of cloth. All yielded quite interesting material.

Other sounds were performed by blowing through organ pipes and flutes, as well as other props that would cause interesting turbulence.

Finally, I experimented with the noise sources of analog synths, filtering them by hand, as well as by side-chaining cutoff and resonance to the envelopes of real wind recordings.

Some of these sounds come close to something realistic, but most take several artistic freedoms to what wind could sound like.

  • City Life Sound Effects Rome Play Track 48 sounds included, 102 mins total $38

Rome is 102 minutes/3.3 Gb of ambiance recordings from the Italian capital. 48 separate files – recorded in 24bit/96kHz A-B stereo. All sounds are UCS-compatible.

Rome was recorded during Easter 2018, and features ambiance recordings of people & places in central Rome. Included are recordings from St Peters Basilica; the Pantheon; various piazza’s (plaza’s), streets and cafés. Many of the locations are famous tourist haunts, and it is certainly audible in some of the recordings, but there are also recordings containing mostly Italian language chatter.

The traffic recordings are typical; with the specific mix of mopeds, scooters, cars & trucks generally seen in the streets of Rome, and the street surfaces are mostly cobblestone. I stayed in Via Milano in the part of Rome called Monti, and recorded that street quite a bit. You will find a couple of long, generic sounding takes, along with a number of smaller snippets containing elements from those same takes, but with more interesting content. That way, you can build the street ambiance you like.

There is also a set of recordings of the old elevator in the building I was staying in; clunky buttons, steel doors and an old-fashioned elevator bell.
