Sound Effects

  • Performed on a experimental, custom-built rig with intense manipulation of objects and tools on a bass guitar string, the Sonomar Collection: Bass Machine sound library features 720 abstract sound design elements to serve as your go-to solution for mysterious designs. Add an otherworldly layer of depth and emotion to your projects with swirling metallic feedback, tensions, eerie engine drones, and gritty metallic vibrations.

At over 15GB, Bass Machine delivers 70 raw sound files and 650 designed sound effects. Recorded with contact mics and guitar pickups at 192kHz, the raw sounds provide uniquely organic building blocks for processing and manipulation. The acoustic isolation and high resolution of each file makes these sounds incredibly flexible for editing and ripe for imaginative sound design. The collection’s designed sounds have been expertly sculpted, pitched, and processed at 96kHz using parts of the raw files. Use these as inspiration for your own design potential, or drop straight into your projects to instantly add expressive tension, harmonic activity, and compelling dimension.

As the first exclusive Sonomar Collection release from Pro Sound Effects, Bass Machine demonstrates the sonic curiosity of sound designer and recordist Martin Pinsonnault (Big Little Lies, Dallas Buyers Club) and the Sonomar team. Together they created the contraption, recorded and performed sounds over many hours of experimentation with the instrument, and then meticulously trimmed, designed, and organized the results for a truly generous and limitless sound library.

Each sound file is embedded with rich metadata to help you find the exact sound effect you need with fast, pinpoint search. Sustain creativity with characteristic descriptions of each recording encompassing both literal sonic qualities as well as the images they invoke. Advanced metadata fields include translated French descriptions and additional info to ensure compatibility across any database search platform such as Soundminer, BaseHead, Netmix, Workspace (Pro Tools), Find Tool (Media Composer), Media Bay (Nuendo), Reaper, Adobe Premiere, and beyond.

    Key Features:

    • 720 sound effects (15GB)
      • 70 raw recordings at 192kHz
      • 650 designed sounds at 96kHz
    • 24-bit broadcast .wav files

  • Little Boxes is a curated collection of four unique sound sets designed to compliment one another sonically and texturally. These textures move from acoustic to electroacoustic to analog synthesis – all programmed into beautiful Kontakt 4 instruments (full NI Kontakt
    4.2.3 or later required).

Comes with the following four boxes:

    Box 1. Earthquake Detector:

littleboxes earthquake detectorA small device meant to be hung flat on the wall, the balls will swing and strike the strings if the ground begins to move.
This box was shaken, plucked, strummed, performed and ebowed to produce a beautiful palette of acoustic string textures.
In Kontakt those sounds evolved into a group of instruments that ran from folksy, zither like patches to lush, shimmering pads.

    Box 2. Folktek Microgarden:
micro gardenA handmade DIY electroacoustic device, this box is built by Arius Blaze at folktek and features a uniquely electric sound while still allowing for very expressive performances.
Capable of percussion, pads, boings and buzzes, this is a unique and versatile box.
In Kontakt the sounds evolved into an exotic group of instruments ranging from synth pads and percussion kits to vintage otherworldly sonic spectra.
    a truly unique piece.

Box 3. MFO Weird Sound Generator:weird sound box
A DIY analog synth built from a kit, this box yields a broad palette of thick, dynamic, chunky synth tones and evolving textures.
After tweaking knobs and rolling for hours, each chunk of sound that made the cut was carefully edited, tagged, and then further sculpted to achieve its final state.
In Kontakt a broad palette of luscious pads, thick warm basses, and polyphonic instruments emerged from the source textures.

Box 4. Dementia Labs optical theremin:
thereminA DIY circuit bent one-off custom theremin, this one features an elaborate unlabeled patchbay, a bunch of unlabeled knobs, and a light sensor as a modulator.
This box yielded tons of static and crunchy textures, as well as some very retro sounding musical pads.
The Kontakt patches turned into a pile of far out synths, analog crackles, and fuzzy goodness.

Note: Can be used without Kontakt too!
All Kontakt instrument libraries include fully unlocked and accessible metadata tagged .wav files. You don't need any version of Kontakt to use these files as a standalone sample library.

  • MaK is a Kontakt instrument which replicates the sounds of a person using various computer keyboards, mice, or touchscreen devices. This allows you to very quickly perform the foley of using one of these devices via midi.

There are 15 devices available in MaK: 5 Keyboards, 5 Mice, 2 Touchscreens, and 3 digital keyboards. Each of these devices has been meticulously recorded at a number of different velocities for a very realistic playback performance.

The majority of the devices have 5 velocity layers; from soft to hard. Each of these velocity layers have 32 different samples: 16 for the press sound, and 16 for the release sounds of each device. That’s 160 samples per device! MaK will randomly trigger press and release samples for each layer based on the velocity you play the notes. Easy to use controls allow you to adjust additional layers of randomness in both velocity and pitch. All of this adds up to realistic devices, and convincing performance. This library requires the full version of NI Kontakt (not included)

  • We are proud to present the next step in our impulse response research; Impulse Exploration 4. This time we have combined all the algorithms and processing techniques used in our previous IR-based products including FM, AM, time stretching, pitch-shifting, spectral-synthesis and multi-faceted manipulations, then added rhythmic elements, which result in tape echo-like sounds or metallic-comb textures.

All of these new impulses were optimized with a slightly soft-warm feel which perfectly fits the mix. It’s an entire world of brand new processing effects and possibilities which can be easily unraveled within any convolution engine, ready to be explored. We hope you enjoy the trip.

    Details:

    • 64 impulse response samples
    • 48khz / 24bit wav files
