The next stop in our sound journey is Prague, Czech Republic
This old city of beautiful churches, narrow streets, ringing trams, echoey squares, cobblestones and bridges has an incredibly attractive atmosphere. And we, as always, will not disturb this natural environment and capture it with stealth recording using DPA 4060 mics.
Take the chance and dive into the attractive sonic atmospheres of Eastern Europe!
KEY POINTS:
Attention: This is NI KONTAKT instrument, so you need full version of KONTAKT (at least version 5.5.2) to run and play it. It will not work in KONTAKT Player!
However, this library contains 96kHz WAVs in separate folders for each of three kalimbas if you don’t have (or need) KONTAKT.
Here you will find two models of high-end kalimbas, as well as a bonus: Â prepared low-quality rattling kalimba to add some low-fi textures to your music or sound design.
All were recorded with condenser and contact stereo mics and have separate controls for both microphones levels. Also, the use of five round-robins for each mic allows to achieve variability and human-alike sound.
All three instruments are built on the same KONTAKT engine with many useful controls: room and contact mic gain, AD envelope, low-pass filter with resonance, chorus, reverb, delay and three-band equalizer.

Another electromechanical-focused library from SkewSound! Our reel2reel Sound Library features a professional tape machine from the 1980s. We captured all the sounds this little (well, actually quite large and heavy) piece of gear could create.

And if you are on the hunt for some huge, analog style mechanical buttons, you should hear what this library has to offer.
This pack contains a selection of kinetic whooshes and growls designed to be used to underline and characterize every weapon motion sound you could be working on.

Gone is the era of the typewriter, when the cacophony of countless typebars striking the platen could be heard emanating from every office building, but with SkewSound’s QWERTY Sound Library, you can recreate those days. We used an electro-mechanical typewriter from the 1970s to create this library.
This allowed us to get some unique sounds that simply can’t be created with an older, mechanical typewriter.
In this library you’ll find some stellar machine gun-like mechanical sounds, impacts, sweeteners, motor hums, and more mechanical switch and button effects than you’ll know what to do with.
• Recorded, edited, and delivered in full 96kHz/24bit high definition audio
• Every performance was multi-mic’d, providing you with a greater range of tonal qualities to modify to your hearts content
• Over 35 minutes of audio
• Fully embedded Soundminer metadata
Natural Human Footsteps is a sound library that contains footsteps sequences recorded and edited in an interior foley studio.
No individual files per step, the files collect all iterations per each kind of performance, shoe and floor material. So you could choose how exactly slice and combine them as needed. It is also quite convenient for extracting extra sounds as shoe frictions, little moves and hits, very useful for animation transitions, starting and stopping moves…
There are 12 different floor materials, and up to 12 footstep performance/acting types for both boots and sneakers. Water material has no shoes, just bare feet, but it goes with different depths.
Natural sound, no saturation, hard EQ, compression, multiple layers or any effects applied at all, just some noise reduction (when needed) and level normalization by LUFS-S in different levels, by floor materials and footstep type. So you can start from a relative natural loudness level and apply whatever processing you feel right for your purpose.
All sounds recorded with a microphone Sennheiser MKH 416 and all files provided have 96kHz/24Bits resolution.
The Inventory SFX Pack contains 44 sounds for Inventory/Backpack interactions, including Rummaging, Zip/Unzip, and general Inventory access sounds. Ideal for video game developers and animators.
A collection of footsteps and movements not usually found in sound libraries: Featuring stagger, struggle, fighting, drunken steps, sudden quick movements on unusual surfaces like plastic sheet, plastic floor mat and other surfaces.
With A Sound Effect, Asbjoern has created a web site where our international community can browse, learn, and share the vast fruits of our labors. Together we are accelerating the very real potential power of sound design as a recognized art form.
A Sound Effect is an excellent resource for us to keep our animated films sounding unique and exciting.
A Sound Effect is a great asset to have discovered.
We found the site very easy to navigate, purchasing and downloads were effortless and the effects themselves are awesome! Asbjoern has done us all a great service.
We’ll definitely be back!
There are many great independent sound effect libraries available these days. The main problem with having so many, is keeping track of them!
A Sound Effect is a great hub, and is one of the first places I visit to look for sounds by category or genre. I started coming here to see if I could find libraries that I knew I had heard, but forgot WHERE I had heard them.
And in the process discovered libraries I never would have found otherwise. Great work! Keep it up!
We're always looking for new sounds to mangle, so when A Sound Effect had a holiday sale, I tried them out.
The purchase experience is really smooth and quick, and delivery is almost instant.
I'll definitely come back to them again in the future!
A Sound Effect is a wonderful resource for indie sound effects libraries. On top of that, it has some of the finest sound design, film and game audio interviews!
I often need very specific types of sounds so I've become a big supporter of independent recorders.
Until now I've always had to go to their individual websites. Now I can find them all in one place.
And, Asbjoern is great to work with!
A Sound Effect is a well curated boutique sound effects shop and a great place to find industry interviews and learning resources.
