This bundle includes 4 different libraries.
The Baltic Sea sound library is compilation of 56 WAV files recorded with Sound Devices 702, Rode NTG3, Sony PCM-M10, two Oktavas MK012 set in MS, XY and ORTF setup. All the sounds were recorded far away from the cities and roads. Since most of the sounds were recorded in late winter, there are no insects or birds in background. There are few files that includes the sound of birds, but I left them on purpose, because of the overall feel of the files. In this library you will find beautiful sound of waves crushing on the rocks and shore, recorded from different perspectives in different stereo configurations, during calm and windy days. In addition to those sounds, there’s foley like walking, running and swimming in the water.
The Harbours Of Norway sound library features 25 files with ambients recorded in Myre, Sto and Nyksund, very small towns with direct access to the sea. Most of the sound effects were recorded at night, but since it’s a polar day time of the year, it was very pleasurable to walk and look for convenient places to set up my gear. Everything was recoded with ORTF setup built from two Sennheisers MKH 8040. Inside this library, you’ll find a lot of seagulls, waves crushing on the rocks and plants, windy ambients from the cliff, industrial sound from port in Myre with ship unloading the cargo, walla with steam engine boat and additional sounds from boat engine market and air cooling aggregates from food containers. Every file was recorded in 96kHz, edited (i removed any unintentional bumps, pops and unwanted sounds). I limited EQing to removing harsh frequencies, or enhancing a little bit the good sounding ones. At the end of the chain there is a small compression, for louder sounds.
The Summer Ambients sound library contains 33 beautiful WAV files recorded with Sound Devices 702, Rode NTG3, two Oktavas MK012 in MS and stereo XY pattern. All sounds were gathered in different and beautiful places like forests, lakes, meadows or swamps. You can expect amazing ambients, textures, different birds, insects, forest during rain, calm and windy days. It’s a perfect library for designing background sounds. Everything was recorded in amazing Masuria in Poland.
Summer ambients Update – library got 2x bigger and heavier than the original library. 59 additional files, 123 minutes of high quality audio recorded with Sennheiser MKH 8040 ORTF setup, Rode NTG3, Oktava MK012 XY setup plugged into SD702 and Sony PCM-10. It features ambients from the forests, ponds, swamps, meadows, lakes and suburbs recorded is very quiet locations, mostly just before the sunrise, during the day and before sunset far away from the cities.
Water Flow sound library took me about six months to record, consumed about 15 thermoses of tea and 42 litres of gasoline to get to all locations. It offers 90 BWAV files recorded in different locations. Huge part of this library is based on the recording sessions on the rivers. Two completely different locations, recorded regularly for the last 5 months allowed me to create this unique sound library. Most of the recording sessions took place during winter just before the sun was rising to reduce the amount of unwanted sounds. Almost all recordings are completely clear and only few have birds in background, since it was my intention to record some location ambients with natural backgrounds.
You can see the metadata and sound list below.

This bundle was built with 5 different sound libraries.
Experience the sound of the honey bees‘ hive. All files were recorded outside the town, far away from the roads to capture the clean sound of hard working bees. 14 stereo files were recorded with Sound Devices 702, Sony PCM-M10 recorder, two DPA 4061 microphones hidden inside a hive and two Sennheiser MKH 8040 to capture the ambient in front of the hive. Every stereo AB interior recording can be split to mono to isolate the single buzzes. Recording those sounds was one of my dreams as a field recordist. I always wanted to hear the interior sound of a hive. This session wasn’t the easy one, because of my strong allergic reaction to bees, but thanks to a proper clothes and suit, I was able to walk through the bees for 2 hours without any harm. My main goal was to capture different sounds, not only the ambients but also some close ones, like the sound of the bees landing on their landing zone or just the interior sound of the hive. The overall character of the sound really depends on the time of the year and time of the day. I had a chance to record those insects before the feeding time. They were hungry and really active. The total length of recorded files is 44 minutes.
The Cat – Meow Library features 130 files ( 51 192kHz, 79 96kHz ) recorded with Sennheiser 8040 / Rode NTG3 and Sony PCM-D100. This small bundle contains different sound effects made by two very vocal cats. From subtle squeaks and digging in litter box, through eating and purrs to loud meows.
The Cormorants sound library was recorded during 4 recording sessions spread through the course of two months. As you can hear in the preview file, the sounds of cormorants are really detailed, because of the super close perspective. In some cases, cormorants were literally walking on my DPA microphones. All files were recorded in 96kHz and 24bits with equipment like: Sound Devices 702, Sony PCM-M10, Rode NTG3, two Oktavas MK012 with different adapters and capsules and two DPA 4061. When it comes to the usability of this library, I think that it’s a great source material for designing sound for different creatures. The textures of nestling recordings are perfect to start designing sounds of small out of the world animals. Some of the files also contain seagulls, which unfortunately are a part of cormorants colonies. The amount of those ‘unwanted’ sound effects in my files is really low though, and some of them were left on purpose. Even though it’s all about cormorants, the single squeaks those seagulls can make are really great. This library contains 32 files with total length of 119 minutes.
The Eurasian Cranes sound library was so far the hardest to record. Eurasian cranes, also called common cranes are beautiful and really easy to scare big birds. This library features the sound of more than 1000 birds singing their song at the same time. If you’r not familiar with those birds, here’s a link to wikipedia. I finally got a chance to record them. It wasn’t my first attempt. More than one year ago I’ve tried to do the same thing, but because of the lack of experience, I’ve ended up with bad recordings. I did not wanted to repeat my mistakes, so I’ve spent the whole night in the wild, testing my gear and patience, got bit by mosquitoes to record those animals. You can hear the results in the preview. All sounds have HPF set to cut out anything below 100Hz, because of the trains passing by from time to time somewhere in the distance. It doesn’t affect the sound of the cranes since there’s no informations in the lows. When it comes to recording wild animals, you have to accept and take whatever you’ve been given. It was impossible for me to come closer to those birds, or avoid the sound of wind going through the reed, because few more steps would scare the birds. All the files were recorded with Sound Devices 702 and two Oktavas MK012 set into ORTF. All the hardware was set in the reed in deep mud, and cranes were standing about 40m away.
The Roaring Stags contains 45 files recorded with Sound Devices 702, two Oktavas MK012 set in XY pattern, and Rode NTG3. All files sounds different, because I was recording everything in the middle of the forest during different times of the day. Recording wild animals is not something you can plan, and I had to record whatever I could, no matter what was happening around. About 90% of the files were deleted, and this 65 minutes of audio is 10% I got left with. In this sound library you’ll find reverberant sounds and ones that has less of the reverb. The distance between me and stags was changing, and that’s the reason of different amount of reverb. Also the animals were constantly moving, and sometimes they turned in completely opposite direction, so roars sounded more distant. Sometimes between roars you’ll hear subtle sounds of me moving close to microphones. I left those sounds so anyone can make cuts in desired places, but those subtle sounds happens very rarely.
Get the authentic sounds of a Volkswagen Golf II 1.6 Diesel – around 2.5 hours in total!
It comes with engine recordings from both the outside and inside, passby sounds, foley and interior sounds. The engine sounds were recorded during regular driving for film usage, and it was driven in a more demanding way – with steady RPMs and slow accelerations – for game implementation. All files are tagged with Soundminer metadata, for quick and easy access. So when you need the sounds of an everyday car, this library gets you 152 minutes of exactly that. As a bonus, there are sounds of tyres during sudden braking at very high speeds.
Mini Countryman F60 SD sound library features 192 high quality files recorded with multi mic setup. Engine was recorded in sync with interior cabin ambient, and you can expect different styles of driving. From casual city driving, through accelerations on a highway up to rpm ramps and constant rpm loops for game audio. In addition to engine recordings, this sound effects library features exterior passes, whooshes and other road related sounds recorded in mono and stereo on a dry and wet asphalt. Last but not least, different foley were recorded to cover exterior and interior activities. In addition to designed onboard recordings, there are also stems for engine (4 inputs), intake and exhaust RAW files without any post processing.
The Porsche Macan S 3.0 V6 sound library features 198 high-quality files recorded with a multi-mic setup. The Engine was recorded in sync with interior cabin ambient, and you can expect different styles of driving. From casual city driving, through accelerations on a highway up to rpm ramps and constant rpm loops for game audio.
In addition to engine recordings, this sound effects library features exterior passes, whooshes and other road-related sounds recorded in mono and stereo on dry asphalt.
Last but not least, different foley were recorded to cover exterior and interior activities. In addition to designed onboard recordings, there are also premixed stems for the engine, intake and exhaust and RAW files, of each microphone without any post-processing.
The Renault Kangoo 1.6 16V sound library features 227 96kHz/24 bit WAV files (including RAW files for design purposes), recorded with 2 Sound Devices 702, 2 Sennheiser MKH 8040 microphones, Rode NTG3, 2 DPA 4061 and Sony PCM-M10 recorder.
This library covers sounds of regular driving, slow and fast accelerating recorded under the hood and inside a drivers cabin at the same time, so the files are in sync and ready to edit in your DAW. In addition this library features exterior recordings, from slow passes through medium and fast ones, reverse sounds, doppler effects, braking and idle, driving away and more.
Everything was recorded from 3 perspectives with different equipment. Mono recordings followed the car all the time, and were recorded with NTG3. Stereo ones were recorded with Sony PCM-M10 and Sennheisers MKH 8040 in ORTF.
Those microphones were standing still, capturing the car passes from left to right. Last but not least, foley: This library covers different actions, like opening and closing doors recorded from the interior and exterior perspectives, opening and closing slide doors, hood, back doors and windows. Pulling and releasing the hand brake, AC fans, buttons and switches, emergency and turning lights, opening and closing glove compartment and more.
The total length of the files is 142 minutes (without RAW files). In addition to the cleaned and premixed files, you will receive Engine RAW recordings as a separate download link. Thanks to those files you can design the engine or interior sounds the way you like.

Night Cityscapes: The library delivers the urban sounds of a sleeping city. The collection includes more than 3 hours of night and early morning ambiences that are recorded in Sofia, Bulgaria. All recordings were made between 01:30 and 05:30 am. This collection will uncover city in a way you may not know. Pedestrian Streets: It is a library of 50 ambiences from around 15 different streets, recorded in about 7 cities, mostly in Bulgaria. Most recordings are made in late autumn or winter because bird life is minimized. The task of this library is to capture much of the different dynamics of pedestrian streets: from zero activity to busy streets, basically concentrating on light activity periods. You will hear sounds of passing cars and people on slush, wet or snow-covered streets. Atmospheres are recorded at different times of the day and night and at various locations. There are ambiences in the collection that track urban traffic at varying intensities, from an almost empty street with 1 or 2 pass by cars to busy traffic on a wet boulevard. Also, microphones are placed in different positions, from 2m to 30m from moving cars.
Construction Ambiences: It is a library of atmospheres that tracks different processes from the construction site. It was recorded in Sofia, Bulgaria during the renovation of several objects in the city center, namely: small streets, squares and big streets. The processes are shaking and removing old pavements and placing new ones (pavement, asphalt, tiles, etc.). A Sound Effect is an excellent resource for us to keep our animated films sounding unique and exciting.
A Sound Effect is a great asset to have discovered.
We found the site very easy to navigate, purchasing and downloads were effortless and the effects themselves are awesome! Asbjoern has done us all a great service.
We’ll definitely be back!
There are many great independent sound effect libraries available these days. The main problem with having so many, is keeping track of them!
A Sound Effect is a great hub, and is one of the first places I visit to look for sounds by category or genre. I started coming here to see if I could find libraries that I knew I had heard, but forgot WHERE I had heard them.
And in the process discovered libraries I never would have found otherwise. Great work! Keep it up!
We're always looking for new sounds to mangle, so when A Sound Effect had a holiday sale, I tried them out.
The purchase experience is really smooth and quick, and delivery is almost instant.
I'll definitely come back to them again in the future!
A Sound Effect is a wonderful resource for indie sound effects libraries. On top of that, it has some of the finest sound design, film and game audio interviews!
I often need very specific types of sounds so I've become a big supporter of independent recorders.
Until now I've always had to go to their individual websites. Now I can find them all in one place.
And, Asbjoern is great to work with!
A Sound Effect is a well curated boutique sound effects shop and a great place to find industry interviews and learning resources.
