WOOD CREAKS is a collection of real recordings of old wood floors, boards, steps, and more – recorded in old (haunted?) houses in Central Ohio. Some of the files are tight on the source for applying your own reverbs to suit your needs, while others feature the space they lived in for maximum realism.
Creaks, Squeaks, Bends, Pulls, Groans, Pops, Rips, Ticks, Door Elements, Weight Shifts for use in Foley, and more.
Sintra’s woods are famous for their mystique and peculiar flora selection, a result of its proximity to the Atlantic Ocean and by men’s own ingenuity on planting foreign species over the course of multiple centuries, resulting in a location that’s green throughout the four seasons, attracting a wide array of bird species and constant weather changes, sometimes all in a single day.
Taking advantage of RØDE’s NT-SF1 ambisonic microphone, the woods were thoroughly explored, where each of the 25 audio files present in this library were recorded on different locations, resulting on multiple diverse atmospheres, where the predominant soundscapes are the beautiful early morning bird calls with smooth wind gusts and a couple of surprises happening throughout, courtesy of strange insects, angry ducks flying around, amongst other oddities.
These audio files are perfect for neutral springtime soundscapes and given the nature of ambisonics, you can easily convert these B Format files onto any desired format (like regular stereo, 5.1 or 7.1 surround) with the correct plug-in, like RØDE’s own SoundField, which happens to be free to download. These are raw recordings where little to no hum or hiss removal techniques were applied.
Need a powerful robot voice? You can build complete robot voice sentences with Okamoid, a really powerful commander robot voice. It’s perfect for strong robot leaders, commanders, villians, in battles, etc. Highly intelligible.
The Okamoid sound effect library contains more than THREE thousands words, chosen amongst the most common English ones. This allows you to build all the sentences you need for your project with this voice.
Okamoid comes with a custom audio browser html file to help you quickly locate, preview and drag & drop the files you need to construct complete sentences.
This library of environmental recordings is the culmination of three recording expeditions to the stunningly gorgeous Pacific Northwest. We visited a variety of locations ranging from urban Vancouver, Portland, and Seattle to the wild and untamed Olympic Peninsula. We captured dynamically disparate sounds such as a noisy Seattle shipyard and the quietest location in the continental US – deep within the primordial Hoh Rainforest. There are excellent crowd wallas, and contemplative mountain streams. From beaches to mountain tops to luxury high rises no environment was left un-recorded! This is what the Northwest sounds like!
In all, this library features 69 individual files totaling over three hours of runtime. Total un-zipped file size is over six gigabytes. All sounds have been edited to remove discernable dialog and unwanted noises. What’s left is pure, loop-able ambience suitable for no-fuss editing.
All sounds were captured on a Sound Devices 744T recorder. Microphones used include a Sanken CSS-5 stereo mic and a matched stereo pair of Sennheiser 8040s in ORTF configuration. All recordings are accompanied by a high quality photograph for reference and tagged with Pro Tools searchable metadata.
As a special incentive we will also include a bonus mini-library of ambiences from the Irish countryside that James recorded on a recent trip home! Highlights include some great mountain winds and a rare recording of a starling formation taking flight!
Recordist, Producer, Editor – Jason Strawley
Photography, Video – Andrew Garraway
Asst Producer – James Nolan
Thanks, and enjoy!
The Sci-Fi Interface series returns once again with yet another packed library filled with fresh frequency modulated content, achieved with newly found techniques and approaches.
Aimed at complementing Vol. I of this series, Vol. II shifted its focus towards more unconventional sounds, on the noisier spectrum of science fiction User Interfaces. You’ll find a lot of robotic conversations, raspy glitches, insectoid clicking, amongst other oddities, created with experimental software pieces and semi-modular synthesizers. All of these sounds have been finely cut, edited and mixed, created with little to no use of external effects, ready to be dropped onto any given audiovisual project.
165 minutes of varied atmospheres and textures are also present, ranging from simple resonant ambiences, to digital sounding engines, to just plain harsh data processing sounds. Combined with over 900 one-shot sound effects, you’ll quickly settle behind the joysticks of your newly built space-ship, ready for an intergalactic journey beyond the sonic realms.

With A Sound Effect, Asbjoern has created a web site where our international community can browse, learn, and share the vast fruits of our labors. Together we are accelerating the very real potential power of sound design as a recognized art form.
A Sound Effect is an excellent resource for us to keep our animated films sounding unique and exciting.
A Sound Effect is a great asset to have discovered.
We found the site very easy to navigate, purchasing and downloads were effortless and the effects themselves are awesome! Asbjoern has done us all a great service.
We’ll definitely be back!
There are many great independent sound effect libraries available these days. The main problem with having so many, is keeping track of them!
A Sound Effect is a great hub, and is one of the first places I visit to look for sounds by category or genre. I started coming here to see if I could find libraries that I knew I had heard, but forgot WHERE I had heard them.
And in the process discovered libraries I never would have found otherwise. Great work! Keep it up!
We're always looking for new sounds to mangle, so when A Sound Effect had a holiday sale, I tried them out.
The purchase experience is really smooth and quick, and delivery is almost instant.
I'll definitely come back to them again in the future!
A Sound Effect is a wonderful resource for indie sound effects libraries. On top of that, it has some of the finest sound design, film and game audio interviews!
I often need very specific types of sounds so I've become a big supporter of independent recorders.
Until now I've always had to go to their individual websites. Now I can find them all in one place.
And, Asbjoern is great to work with!
A Sound Effect is a well curated boutique sound effects shop and a great place to find industry interviews and learning resources.
