Recorded by renowned innovators of film sound design Ann Kroeber and Alan Splet, the Stallion library features an incredible variety of charismatic horse sound effects including movements and vocalizations.
Intensify your projects with rumbling racing gallops, thumping canters, steady trots, and heavy rhythmic breathing. Bring creatures to life with the emotive whinny and neigh sounds of mustang stallions plus strong snorts, charming grunts, light nickers, and guttural exhales.
Many of these horse sounds were recorded for major feature films including The Black Stallion, The Horse Whisperer, and Hidalgo. Splet’s work on The Black Stallion won him a Special Achievement Academy Award® for Sound Editing. This recognition was largely due to the quality and depth of the source recordings he and Kroeber created.
Using a unique custom microphone rig (one mic fastened under the belly, another placed in front of the nose), the galloping sound effects in this library achieve an extraordinary dramatic quality with the horse’s powerful footsteps captured in harmony with its breathing.
Get an array of horse footsteps at your fingertips – moving at every gait and on various surfaces from gravelly dirt to shallow water, grass, sand, cobblestone and more. The Stallion library also includes miscellaneous sounds like chewing, saddle creaks, stretching leather, and scraping carriage wheels.
Following the libraries Cinematic Winds and Industrial Sounds with Soul, Stallion is the third exclusive release by Pro Sound Effects curated from Sound Mountain: Kroeber and Splet’s venerable private recording collection created over decades of film sound work with celebrated directors like David Lynch, Carroll Ballard, and Peter Weir. Kroeber has since worked on or supplied sounds for film, TV, and games – including 6 movies that won an Academy Award® in sound, and 7 additional nominations.

It's not everyday you get the opportunity to record in the Smithsonian Institute when it's open…let alone when it's closed! Now you don't have to. This library contains sounds from seven museums, an administrative area and the National Zoo. All recorded in M/S using the ultra-quiet Sennheiser MKH40 and MKH30, and decoded into stereo files.
This library includes sounds from:
• The Museum of Natural History
• The Museum of American History
• The Museum of Air and Space
• The Museum of the American Indian
• The Freer Gallery
• The subterranean exhibits of the Sackler Gallery
• The Museum of African Art
• The Administrative Ripley Center
• The National Zoo
All told, three and a half hours of unique museum ambiences!
Static Space is a collection of 155 space or Sci-Fi sound effects, focused on continuous, seamless loops. Instead of fly-by's and accelerations, you get the sounds of space ships going at cruise speeds or idling. If you need motion, just add panning, fades and doppler as you like.
Here are plenty of loops for designing alien environments, including engine rooms, general room tones, strange transmissions and more. Additionally, I have made sure to add plenty of variety; both in terms of moods, frequency content and tonality. Some of these are unmistakably space sound effects, while others are more ambiguous, and could be used for other high tech environments as well.
You will find both low- and high end sweeteners, so when ever you see the words “rumble” or “low end” in a file name; watch that master fader! Furthermore, I went for a strong, almost musical tone, in some sounds, while others are much more noise-based and abrasive.
Introducing a collection of writing, painting, paper tearing, cutting, and carving sounds featuring tons of different pens, markers, brushes, and types of paper. You won’t have any trouble cutting together any office or classroom scene with this library. All FX were recorded on a professional Foley stage at 192kHz/24bit.
Various types of pencils, pens, permanent makers, highlighters, crayons, chalk, and paint brushes big and small.
We used many different surfaces to give you more choices when editing, plus sounds of paper cutting, crumpling, carving, erasing, label making, box cutting, taping, etc.
We hope you enjoy it!
This sound collection covers a wide range of sounds produced by many different steam engines. In addition to the real engines there’s also a wide variety of Foley sounds which can be layered to make funny (steam) engines for cartoons for example. All sounds recorded with high end equipment – 24 bit and 96KHz (some in 48KHz)
The ‘MAIN’ demo gives a good taste of what’s inside. The ‘POTENTIAL KONTAKT demo gives a glimpse of what you can do with the FREE BONUS Kontakt Instruments. So the latter is just a demonstration, these sounds are not included as such!

With A Sound Effect, Asbjoern has created a web site where our international community can browse, learn, and share the vast fruits of our labors. Together we are accelerating the very real potential power of sound design as a recognized art form.
A Sound Effect is an excellent resource for us to keep our animated films sounding unique and exciting.
A Sound Effect is a great asset to have discovered.
We found the site very easy to navigate, purchasing and downloads were effortless and the effects themselves are awesome! Asbjoern has done us all a great service.
We’ll definitely be back!
There are many great independent sound effect libraries available these days. The main problem with having so many, is keeping track of them!
A Sound Effect is a great hub, and is one of the first places I visit to look for sounds by category or genre. I started coming here to see if I could find libraries that I knew I had heard, but forgot WHERE I had heard them.
And in the process discovered libraries I never would have found otherwise. Great work! Keep it up!
We're always looking for new sounds to mangle, so when A Sound Effect had a holiday sale, I tried them out.
The purchase experience is really smooth and quick, and delivery is almost instant.
I'll definitely come back to them again in the future!
A Sound Effect is a wonderful resource for indie sound effects libraries. On top of that, it has some of the finest sound design, film and game audio interviews!
I often need very specific types of sounds so I've become a big supporter of independent recorders.
Until now I've always had to go to their individual websites. Now I can find them all in one place.
And, Asbjoern is great to work with!
A Sound Effect is a well curated boutique sound effects shop and a great place to find industry interviews and learning resources.
