Once again a wild week for independent sound effects, as no less than 9 interesting SFX libraries have been added to A Sound Effect!

They range from fierce sword fights, shotguns, sci-fi sounds to natural-sounding whooshes, foley, mopeds, toys and more. And once again, I’ve included a highlight of 3 of most popular libraries from the past 7 days. Happy listening :)

Swordfighter

Indecent Machines is a sci-fi sample pack inspired by a concept of mechanical disrepair and emergent AI consciousness. It features 1.7 gigabytes of 24-bit/96khz samples and bundled Kontakt kits, created by producer/sound designer Chad Glenn.

These sounds originated from field and studio recordings of various machines which were then processed through custom DSP algorithms using Kyma and other sound design tools.

The result is a unique set of mutant robotics, mechanical snippets, evolving textures, rhythmic artifacts and menacing atmospheres appropriate for music and sound design projects of all kinds. Features 347 .wav files and 5 Kontakt kits (full version of NI Kontakt required for the Kontakt files).

Cinematic & Trailer Sound Effects Creaking – Ropes, Cables, Wires Play Track 377+ sounds included $38

Over 375 sounds of creaking materials, including breaking cables, ropes under tension and about to split, wires and strings under stress, metal friction causing tension. Recorded with a combination of Sanken CO100K and Nevaton microphones for full frequency sound content. Saved as 192KHz these files allow for high resolution editing. Useful for impact sounds in cinema, games or documentary, but also for cartoon sounds or even creature sounds as many of the recordings contain vowel-like screeching and scraping.

Imagine a scene where a rope is about to break over an edge, an object being torn by a huge cable, a wooden structure about to collapse under stress and so on… Our brain is triggered by those rattling sounds or spine-breaking cracks coming from little fibers being split apart, parts of the structure creaking, wires scraping over edges…

These sounds can be perceived as delicate but have a great psychological impact as we interpret these and know what is about to happen. So suspense is built with both background and close-up sounds. Useful when building tension, when creating a sense of upcoming climax, these sonic elements will work out to amplify the details that are often important but not always visible for the eye.

Drones & Mood Sound Effects FRL. Kaleidoscope. Surround Play Track 228 sounds included, 540 mins total $60

Kaleidoscope is the first library of the project. It includes field recordings of various categories made in 2022-2023. All files are standardized according to the UCS system. The library features various atmospheric recordings immersing listeners into specific vivid and deep states.

Working on this library was very challenging personally for me. It took over a year to perfect it. It was difficult to remember where each recording was from and why I made it in the first place. Sometimes, photos from the locations helped, where I had to dig deep into my memory and listen to the recordings multiple times.

Kaleidoscope is a collection of disparate recordings united by one idea – to capture the here and now. From the clicks of waves resonating in the concrete confines of an abandoned duct to the atmosphere of an empty hotel room, from rain drumming on a metal canopy to sliding crystals in icy voids. The library is presented in two versions – stereo and spatial (5.0). Everything was recorded on the incredible Nevaton MS50 microphone in quad and DMS modes
