This week we have four new libraries on A Sound Effect. You can take a trip to Vietnam and explore its temples, river boats and parks. Or you can join a colony of cormorants as they go about their birdly days. You can also take a break for some tea and dessert, or perhaps you’d rather hear momentum and gravity do what they do best.

    'Asia Reminds – Vietnam Ambiences' delivers a huge amount of recordings (more than 10 hours total!) from a trip to Vietnam. It's divided into three distinct ambience types: City ambiences, Nature / Town ambiences and Transportation ambiences.

    'Asia Reminds – Vietnam Ambiences' ambience types:
    City ambiences include recordings from Hanoi such as the Thien Mu Pagoda temple, street terraces, outside the imperial city, the literature temple, parks, streets, markets and more.

    Nature / town ambiences include recordings from the Halong Bay, Hue Tu Duc mausoleum park, the banks of the River of Perfumes, the town of Thuy Bieu, the Dam Chuon lagoon, brick manufacturing in the Mekong Delta, the waterways of Nhon Thanh Town, Phu Quoc Island (day and night), Cai Coi paddle boat excursions and more.

    Transportation includes a motorboat excursion, cruise ship excursion, the Hanoi Train, a rickshaw excursion, a fishing excursion, car rides, Long Xuyen canal and Ben Tre river boat excursions and more.

    'Asia Reminds – Vietnam Ambiences' is available in two versions:
    STEREO EDITION, with a total of 176 stereo audio files at 48 kHz / 24 bit (102 ambient sounds / 74 FX sounds)

'Cormorants' features this family of large aquatic fowls with their diverse range of bird calls. This library contains over a hundred minutes of content recorded over two months, with the help of many cups of tea. Soundholder stayed with a large colony and captured its individual birds, small groups and large flocks as they squawked, laid eggs, flew around, chirped, and communicated. With so many perspectives of these birds, it feels at times like they're right on top of the mic!

    Diffuse City is the unique urban ambience sound effects library you didn’t know you were missing. It captures the urban environment in its many forms – all based around the idea of diffuse ambience.

    The Diffuse City library is purpose-built for the times an environment needs to be felt, but not be distracting.

    Every track in Diffuse City was recorded with some sort of real life “filter” in mind; be it distance, elevation, time of day, physical material – Anything to provide the feeling of city life with out the specificity of many urban ambience libraries. No distracting close car pass-bys or people talking; only great natural ambience beds.

    Diffuse City was recorded in big cities, suburbs, small towns, and rural settings over a span of two years. It was largely recorded over very late nights, when very few people we’re around. Occasionally, however, a car would pass by… a gun would go off… While these were edited out of the recordings, they are included as “extras” in the library. Perfect for adding some flavor to a moment that’s authentic to the environment it was recorded in.

    Metadata – and markers:

    In addition to thorough metadata, each ambience in Diffuse City is embedded with markers highlighting unique moments that aren’t easily visible in a waveform. Software like Soundminer v4.5 and Reaper can display these markers, making it easy to identify distinct sonic moments in an otherwise nondescript waveform.
